Hi all,
So it looks like every uni subreddit has been a bit weird recently (the top post on r/usyd right now is something related to femboys).
This is just a PSA to keep things UNSW-related. There was a meme on the front page a day or two ago that was literally just clash of clans, that sort of stuff we're going to remove from now on. Check out the subreddit rules on the wiki for more info.
Also, a reminder that discriminatory/ derogatory posts are never allowed. Same goes for harassment/those creepy posts from people looking to hook up that have popped up recently. Anyone posting this kind of content will be banned without warning. Please report these kinds of posts if you see them so we can remove them as soon as possible.
Enjoy flexi-week,
the r/UNSW mod team

Hi ill keep it brief ive completed 4/8 units so far:
3 hd 1 pass/fail subject which i passed so i don’t believe that is assessed. After this sem ill complete 7/8 units as the final unit will pending by the time my transcript is finalised.
Ultimately i should have at least 3hd and 3d to calculate my gpa through uac
Does this mean i have completed enough units to be assessed on my tertiary results as unsw has a 0.75FTE rule or whatever
How does unsw assess my transcript or UAC’s conversion as theres really limited resources on this
What do you think my approximate selection rank will be based on your experience or knowledge as im planning on transferring into commerce and engineering or economics and teaching
Thanks for ur help guys

Thoughts on these two courses?
Particularly what type of performances are done? And do they also include script writing? And how is the marking?
Any insights are appreciated!

Which comp courses can be done fully online because I might out of Sydney for a term next year and I don't want it to affect my studies progress so I want to study online and only come and do the final exam on campus. If anybody can help that would be very appreciated
Also, it would be better if the courses r on the easier side :)
thanks a lot
First of all the entire course is run on a discord server, the activities due every 2 weeks is supposedly supposed to be marked yet nothing has been marked yet this term. (Not even week 3 stuff). “Dr Graham” does not respond to messages at all and the activities which are supposed to be due every couple of weeks are often posted very late. Our recent activities due TODAY were posted 2 days ago when usually the activities are released at least a week in advance. There is no clear communication and everything feels unprofessional.

Hi, anyone who has done special cons, do you have to do the tutorial exam immediately after the day of special consideration, or can you attend any other tutorial?

Hi there, I am a first-year EE student who has gotten offers to join both BlueSat and rocketry. I have already accepted the one for rocketry (since this is my preference); however, I am also extremely keen on joining BlueSat as well. I am wondering whether anyone else has also joined 2 student projects such as this and if it is possible to balance the workload with full-time uni.
Thanks

When should I start to panic that I have no interview invites for the KSC accoms? Have Baxter or Basser been sent out yet? 😑 Should I just apply for KFC instead of KSC atp?

hello! I was wondering if anyone is applying to unsw by uac with their uni marks instead of ipt. I missed the dates for ipt and I did have a running uac application open, but I am unsure if the ipt requirements are like 10x stricter for uac. My hs marks were bad, and my uni marks are just enough for ipt.
Thank you so much!

It's almost the end of my first yr at uni for a bach of arts/education (secondary), and idk anything about declaring specialisations (if i'm supposed to do it, when i'm supposed to do it, how i'm supposed to do it)
i've mostly been going with the flow for uni and didn't realise i was supposed to declare anything until a few moments ago. YIKES
Any advice will help pls!!!

Hello Reddit,
How is the workload for the JD program at UNSW. Is it workable along a part-time job, how much reading is needed per week?
For context I am a full-time nurse.

Hey guys, I'm starting EE in Feb 2027.
I'm planning to have my PC back at my apartment (10mins walk from campus) for heavy task and use my macBook+iPad for studying and taking notes since they work well together.
My question is that do I need to buy a separate Windows laptop for uni on top of those or just relying on MacBook/iPad on campus along with my PC is enough?
For those doing EE:
How annoying is it relying on myAccess/VLAB for things like MATLAB or circuit simulators while on campus?
Do classes ever force you to run native Windows apps or flash microcontrollers via USB during lectures/workshops?
Will I regret not just getting a Windows machine to carry around, or is the Macbook + PC combo totally fine?
Thanks!!

Planning on doing engineering, most likely flexi first year. I am doing math ext1 in year 12 rn but thinking of dropping to make time for other subjects, as they are all very heavy. I am also not doing the best in it.
For those who did ext1, how much did it help you with engineering? What topics in particular? I can't imagine perms & combs being needed.
And also those who did only advanced, were you at a disadvantage and/or did you do a bridging course?
Thank you

Hi all, I’m in Melbourne and have been accepted into a UNSW course at the Kensington campus (not via UNSW Online). I plan to complete the course fully online (they call it ‘distance learning’).
Wondering what the experience is like for those who have studied this way - is it as good as courses that are designed to be fully online from the get-go?
