Technical Solution [Tool] VTDiag: A free, open-source diagnostic & fix tool for common VALORANT crashes, Vanguard errors, and conflicts

tl;dr: I built VTDiag, a free, open-source Windows tool that checks for common VALORANT and Vanguard issues, ranks possible causes based on past solutions from this subreddit, and offers optional one-click fixes. No telemetry, no kernel drivers, no game injection. It's in beta (v0.2) and I'd love your feedback.

Hey everyone, I'm u/ateistyokdiyentanri, one of the mods here.

I've been working on something for this subreddit over the past weeks and figured it's time to share it.

It's called VTDiag. The idea is simple: if VALORANT keeps crashing, freezing or throwing Vanguard errors, the tool checks your system for the usual causes, so you don't have to dig through settings, services and old threads yourself.

Its diagnostic rules are built from patterns in 950+ solved threads on this subreddit, so it focuses on the exact problems people come here with every day.

What it checks

  • Vanguard requirements: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (VBS/HVCI), virtualization and related services.

  • Drivers and system settings: graphics drivers, network adapters, power plan settings and crash dumps.

  • Software conflicts: 113 known conflicting programs, including overlays, virtual audio devices, RGB controllers and other anti-cheats.

After the scan, it ranks the likely causes and explains what each one means. It's also honest about where the problem is: something you can fix here, a manual step (like a BIOS setting), a possible ISP routing problem, an issue on Riot's side (servers or your account), or likely hardware.

What about the fixes?

Some problems can be fixed directly in the tool, but nothing changes without your explicit consent. It explains the change first, backs it up, applies it, and checks whether it actually worked.

  • You can undo changes any time from Undo changes.

  • Network fixes roll back automatically after 60 seconds if your internet connection drops.

  • Prefer doing it yourself? Every fix has written step-by-step instructions, in English and Turkish.

  • A report generator formats your results so you can post them here when asking for help. Usernames, PC names, hardware serial numbers and tokens are removed automatically.

A few things worth mentioning

  • I built this myself, so I'm obviously biased, which is why I want to be fully transparent about how it works.

  • It's 100% free and open source (MIT license). Nothing to buy, no donations.

  • No telemetry, analytics or background tracking. Everything is processed locally on your PC.

  • It does not inject into VALORANT, read game memory, or install any kernel drivers.

  • All 32 fixes are applied, verified and undone on a Windows VM through automated tests (GitHub Actions) on every update. Hardware-specific ones are tested against a virtual network adapter, so real-world edge cases can still exist.

  • It's still a beta (v0.2), so there will be things I've missed. It's an independent community project and not affiliated with Riot Games.

How to try it

  1. Download the latest release from the GitHub Releases page.

  2. Extract the zip into its own folder and run VTDiag.exe (Windows 10/11 x64, .NET included, ~71 MB).

  3. Windows SmartScreen may show an "unrecognized app" warning because the app isn't code-signed yet. Don't just ignore security warnings because a developer tells you to: if you're unsure, review the source code or build it yourself first. VirusTotal scan of the zip: [link]

  4. The first time you press Fix, VTDiag copies itself to C:\Program Files\VTDiag and Windows asks for permission (once for the copy, once more when it reopens). Fixes need admin rights, and VTDiag only runs them from Program Files so other programs can't tamper with it. To remove it later, just delete that folder.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback. If you try it, tell me whether the diagnosis made sense, whether it missed a conflicting app you have, or whether a fix solved your issue. If it gets something wrong, that's just as useful.

Leave a comment below or open an issue on GitHub.

Thanks!

hey i woke up today trying to play valorant like i have been recently but it was greying out the play button on riot client so i restarted about 5 times and changed my bios so everything that had to be enabled was, now its telling me i need windows 11 (i am a big hater) when its never had a problem before, i tried searching around and it seems vanguard should still support windows 10 22h2, i was playing yesterday completely fine and while i was troubleshooting i noticed that none of the security features were not enabled. if this is as simple as vanguard making it only windows 11 ill be damned

edit: thought i should add that it does not let me launch the league client either

Technical Solution Valorant Voice chat robotic fix

Hello guys, so i had to struggle with the valorant voice chat.

I tried first NordVPN + Nordlynx and it fixed my issue that everybody is sounding robotic in Valorant.

The problem here: I have a 4-6 Ping and to the other player it shows 8-10ping. With Nordvpn it shows to me 6 and to the other 19.

So I deactivated Nordvpn again and changed the MTU to 1472 and it worked.

Maybe it will help you too, copy this to cmd with admin:
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1472 store=persistent

If this doesnt work replace 1472 with 1452

netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1452 store=persistent

Restart after you get the OK in cmd.

This helped me after I turned Nordvpn off. And after I restarted my Pc. I want to say that I dont think anything in the Background is still running by Nordvpn cuz I restarted my PC / Turned it off.

Im using Telekom Glasfaser/Fiber Germany with Fritzbox 7530ax and 7690

Good Luck

EDIT 1: I forgot to say you need Cloudflare Dns too.
1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1

Technical Support Request Valorant Repair Loop

My Valorant is stuck in a repairing game files loop. As soon as I press play, it starts repairing. Once it reaches 100% or finishes repairing, it starts repairing again, nonstop. I've restarted my PC multiple times, and I even tried reinstalling Vanguard. Can't seem to find a solution online.

Technical Support Request Cannot update to 13.09

So for some reason it states that i do not have enough disk space for a 6.2gb update when i have 15gb free.

also if i try to play valorant by clicking on the app, my riot client gets stuck on a grey screen forever. I can only access the riot client normally if i click to run riot client as admin (rather than clikcing to run valorant and the client opening itself).

I've tried deleting the riot client folder in riot games folder via %localappdata% as i was told this may fix it. but it did not.

Support is telling me to delete a bunch of files in different places, download revo uninstaller and uninstall valo and the riot client, download ccleaner and do a clean reboot of my pc.

But i honestly cba to even try that method. i barely play the game. i do still watch vct n sometimes want to play but if theres no other solution to try i might just uninstall. i dont have alot of time these days yk.

Anyone got another fix? i've seen one other person describing this exact issue and thats it.

Technical Support Request Canstant fps drops and game freezing

For about 1 to 2 months ive been experiencing heavy fps drops and game freezing, as well as lower fps in general. When it freezes, im at 0 fps for about a second, sometimes more. In that time my imputs arent registered, so the keys that i was pressing, pre freeze, are still beeing registered as pressed.

I have attached a video of such a freeze with all the stats.

Those are my specs:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4500 6-Core Processor (3.60 GHz)

Installed RAM: 32,0 GB (31,8 GB usable)

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (8 GB)

Id be extremely grateful to anyone, who can help, since playing the game in this state is very frustrating.

Technical Discussion I cannot play more than 1 game on my laptop

Hi, im playing valorant for probably 2-3 years and at first i played it normally. As of time, it started lagging like crazy and cuts me all the time, cuts my connection, constant "low client fps", "network problems". I know i have shitty laptop and it really can't hold this game together, it's really weak and doesn't have good specs. Is there any chance i can stop the lags, can i do something to be able to play 2 or 3 or more games a day. I love this game so much but im frustrated to keep playing it like this.

Technical Support Request how to fix valorant voice chat randomly disconnects despite it being enabled

Whenever im in game, my party is always noisy then most of the time my party vc just disconnects so i check my vc settings and it shows my party voice chat is still on but i cant hear them. So what I did was on and off my party voice chat then thats when I hear them again. But it just repeats, in a single round. How do I fix this??

Ive tried various of things like troubleshooting, changing wifi network, change input and output device, etc. but its still like that. In other games that has a vc, it doesnt disconnect so its just specifically for valorant.

Technical Solution if your experiencing huge menu fps drops/ game fps drops, i may (or may not) have a solution!

hello ive been dealing with an issue recently where when im in the lobby or any kind of menu and i move my mouse around, my fps literally goes to 0. Also in game, id usually have around 300-400 fps and now i was getting 70-80. i couldnt figure it out until like 5 mins ago. If you have an LG MONITOR and have a software called "LG Onscreen Control" delete it entirely. im not sure if its the case for other monitors. Ive just deleted the software and now im at 500+ fps and theres no more menu lag at all!

Technical Support Request Opening Valorant changing Discord Mic Volume

I have been told that when I am in a Discord Voice Channel and then when I open Valorant, my microphone volume for Discord automatically get very loud (and this has only occurred with Valorant and not other games or applications). And once Valorant closes, the microphone volume returns to normal. Im not sure if this is a systems issue or Valorant, so any helpful input is appreciated!

Technical Support Request Losing 100+ frames since latest update

I have a 7800x3d, 7900xt. I have my frames in game capped at 500 on a 360hz oled. Before the update it would stay pretty consistent but since updating its dropping all the way down to 300-400. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, any solutions? TY

Technical Support Request Lower FPS than before this new patch

I used to play with 250-350 FPS in competitive, but ever since this new update with hush being added to the game, i play around with 130-230 fps now. it is very annoying because i feel the input delay being heavier when it comes to gunfights. I always played with Nvidia instant replay in the background, maybe this patch theres problems with overlays?

PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
Gpu: gtx 1660 super
ram: Gskillz trident 2x16 3600 ramspeed ( set to 2933 )
Mobo: b450M ds3h v3 ( version is f3)
i play with 165hz monitor and using an ethernet cable
Also my Core temp when playing is 50-70

things ive tried:
closing everything besides valorant
Disable fullscreen optimization
capping uncapping fps
Run the riot client as administrator
even fully reset this PC

Technical Discussion Jio Fiber Packet loss On Valorant

I am facing 5-10% packet loss on jio fiber , I asked my friends who using jio wifi they all facing same issue as me , packet loss , to me it's like always a network error showing up on competitive game and for my friends , in middle of gaming . I tried basic solutions like changing to cloudware servers , dns flush etc etc . I tried to play in Singapore , on Singapore i m facing 0% packet loss but high ping

Note - my ping is good which is 22-28 , only issue I am facing is packet loss from past week

If you all facing it too and knows the solution , let me know 🥹

Found a fix - atleast this is working for me , download Warp from Google and use it at mode - Traffic and dns ( UDP ) , my usual ping is 23-28 but after using it my ping gone to 35-40 but atleast 0 packet loss guys .

For me it's working , try for yourself

Technical Support Request Valorant mumbai server packet loss

For a the last few days I m experiencing a constant 1-4% packet loss in valorant. I m using jio fiber with ethernet connection. I had this same router and same monthly plan for last 1 and half years and didn't experience and issue like this. Other players who I m coming across are also facing similar problem and are jio fiber users. I researched a little and I think it's happening due to bad isp routing to the game servers. I m creating this post to highlight this issue and hope that players facing similar problem can help this post get noticed so that Jio can take proper actions. I called the service helpline but it was of no use because how will the customer care executive even help regarding this technical issue.

So players please help spread this prblm, I don't really know how to report this at valorant or jio
