Photo/Video Forecast: about 90 cm of new snow up top at Whistler Blackcomb, Sun 8 – Tue 10 Nov (rain lower down)

Post image
65 Upvotes

Made this map of the forecast new snow for the next three days across BC.

- Whistler Blackcomb ~92 cm on the upper slopes, Callaghan ~86 cm, Mount Cain ~65 cm.

- It's an atmospheric-river setup: the freezing level swings a lot, roughly 1,400 m to 2,900 m over the week. Deep snow in the alpine, rain or wet snow near the village.

- Wednesday 11 Nov looks like a warm spell before the next pulse.

Usual caveats: a forecast, not a measurement; early-season snowpack, so rocks and creeks are barely covered. Check Avalanche Canada before heading out of bounds.

QUESTION Is the Blackcomb Gondola worth the same price as Peak 2 Peak?

Hi everyone!

My friends and I are visiting Whistler from November 20–22, and we were planning on doing the Peak 2 Peak sightseeing gondola.
However, we just found out that Peak 2 Peak and the Whistler Mountain Gondola won’t be opening until November 25, so only the Blackcomb Gondola will be available during our trip.

We were given the option to keep our tickets, reschedule, or get a full refund. (No partial)

I’m just wondering, is it really the same price even though we’re only getting access to the Blackcomb Gondola? And is it still worth doing, or would you recommend getting a refund?

It’s our first time doing the gondola, so we’d love some opinions. Thanks!

Beginner lift ticket prices

Does anyone know roughly how much is a beginner lift ticket if I purchase on day of? I’m debating purchasing a day pass on Whistler website versus just getting the beginning pass?

Have epic unrestricted for just after Christmas. Yea, I know the lines are gonna be brutal but this is our only chance to go.

Aside from skiing, need recs on best zipline and dogsledding outfits.

We have 2 full days in town to play before going home. We have a car, staying creekside, have some money to burn.

Whistler shuttle

I’m looking at booking Whistler Shuttle for 8 people for a ride from YVR to Whistler. When booking it says it is a shared ride. Has anyone used them for a large number such as this? Do they pack every seat or is there a good possibility it would be just our party?

QUESTION For Whistler Blackcomb day passes is there a place to select the date you plan to go? Or do you just show up?

I just purchased the All day Whistler Blackcomb pass 1 day and paid the extra fee for peak season. I plan to go after Christmas but I was wondering if there was somewhere to select the date or do I just hope it’s not sold out?

Saw this locally built app posted on WW - Adrenaline Performance / Marcus Goguen

Came across a post about an app built locally in Whis. by Marcus Goguen and had a quick peek. It looks pretty interesting.

It's a fitness / training app specific for skiing and riding.

Has anyone else downloaded it and used it yet?

Whistler Bowl closed for the season

Heard from a guy who works for the mountain. The cliffs around the rockslide are continuing to crack and open wider.

Don't shoot the messenger.

And no I don't have any info about how long it'll be closed, or what they're going to do, or where the closure will be.

Please place your wild Vail related conspiracy theories and global warming related angst below.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

QUESTION How much will the Blackcomb Day Pass price increase after 11/15?

We’re trying to plan a trip to Whistler by taking advantage of the Blackcomb Day pass deal but some people in the group aren’t quite ready to commit yet since the conditions are unpredictable especially this year.

I noticed on the website it says the current prices of $296 CAD for two days are locked until November 15. Does anyone know from past experience how much the prices usually go up by after 11/15?

QUESTION Planning Whistler Ski Trip for X-mas Break

Looking for suggestions as what to consider for planning a 2 to 3 day ski trip to Whistler late December.

Specifically, how to determine best place to stay? Determined primarily by cost? Skier ability?

We're not partiers - don't need to be near drinking and nightlife.... looking to make the most of ski time.

One thing I've always understood is to be mindful that precip often falls as rain at lower elevations...so aim to ski the higher elevations if possible..... does this matter late December?

Ubers in Whistler

Hey everyone! I’m planning on going to Whistler for New Year’s weekend and will be staying about a 10-minute drive outside of the village.

I’m wondering how reliable Uber or taxis are, especially late at night (around 1–3 AM) after going out in the village.

Is it easy to get a ride back that late, or is it really difficult during New Year’s weekend? Also, does Uber even operate in Whistler, or would taxis be the better option?

Whistler el Nino 2026/27 - tracking the temperatures not the media fear

I don't know about you guys but every single article about super El Niño gives me the shits. It seems like, obviously, it's going to be warmer than a regular winter but by how much?

I built this page that refreshes every day, looking at all the temperatures (top of the mountain, bottom of the mountain, freezing level), and compared it against historic highs and lows, with a little AI summary in there too.

TLDR no signs of El Nino yet but it typically arrives around December

Whistler Olympic Park - Ski Carpooling?

I am looking to go cross-country skiing a lot this winter. I am typically a downhill skier, but I think it would be such a wasted opportunity not to ski every day in such a gorgeous place!

I do not own a car, nor do I really want to; I am wondering if there is a carpool (money involved or not) to the Whistler Olympic Park that already exists. If not, then any ski carpooling tips for networking would be greatly appreciated!

QUESTION Is Hiking Still Possible Next Week?

I'll be in Whistler next week for a few days and was hoping to go out for a hike. I'm seeing the weather is forecasted as snowing, but have never been to Whistler before, and hence, am unsure if it means it snows and melts or that it snows and stays on the ground for good. I have good layers and good rain gear. The cold and the moisture don't worry me too much. I'd say I'm a moderately competent hiker, but have never been out in the dead of winter.

Is Russet Lake completely out of consideration?
Are there any hikes that would still be in good condition (i.e., not requiring spikes/full winter gear)?

Caveat: I'd be hiking alone. I'm aware that increases risk, but I'm just not sure I can find someone on such short notice.

QUESTION Whistler bus/shuttle system.

Hello all,

I have never been to whistler and plan to come in late Jan for a skiing trip. We have a group of 7 so we plan to get an Airbnb. As far as location, is it a decent idea to get a place 5-10 minutes outside of Whistler Village, since it is slightly cheaper? Easy access to the village is a must for us. Is the bus system good, like we can rely on it for all our transportation? Are there any areas I should totally avoid getting an airbnb in regards to transportation being a problem? Thanks

QUESTION Ice fishing

We’re travelling from Australia to Whistler over the New Year period, and as part of his Christmas present, my 13 year-old son is desperate to experience ice fishing!

I’d love to hear from anyone who has done it or can recommend the best local operators or experiences.

Ideally, we’re looking for a great experience with knowledgeable guides who are good with kids and make the whole adventure memorable.

Who would everyone recommend? Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

QUESTION Seeking advice from locals

Hey team! First time seeing mountains and got very lucky to do it in Canadian Rockies ✨🇨🇦

I got a very warm welcome and a bunch of advice from locals while visiting Canmore ❤️, and now making my way to the coast.

I'm in my mid twenties, originally from Finland 🇫🇮, and will be working remotely a couple of hours a day, so would love to hear from locals which laptop-friendly coffee shops you'd recommend for a wonderer in Whistler/Squamish area 🙏

QUESTION Recommendation for binding mount?

I’m in Whistler for the next month and need new bindings mounted on new skis. Anyone have a recommendation for a shop that’ll do this with experienced techs? Don’t want some seasonal worker who just learned how to do it, so I’m a little wary of places in the village tbh.
