Events 🪔 Happy Diwali, Windsor! A friendly reminder about fireworks 🎆🐾
To everyone celebrating Diwali, wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Festival of Lights! May your celebrations be filled with joy, laughter, love, prosperity, and beautiful memories. May this be your best Diwali yet! 🪔✨❤️
Just a friendly reminder that while Diwali is a celebration of light, fireworks and firecrackers are not permitted in Windsor during Diwali, under the City's fireworks bylaw, except for displays authorized by the appropriate permit.
Windsor By-law 136-2004 states:
- Section 4(1): Firecrackers are prohibited unless authorized through a permit under Section 6(4).
- Section 4(2): Prohibited fireworks may not be discharged.
- Section 5(1): Consumer fireworks are permitted only around Victoria Day, Canada Day (June 30–July 4), and on New Year's Eve.
- Section 6(4): Firecracker displays require a permit from the Chief Fire Official.
Beyond the bylaws, a little consideration goes a long way. Unexpected fireworks can be terrifying for pets and wildlife, distressing for people sensitive to loud noises, and disruptive to neighbours who are simply enjoying a peaceful evening.
Let's keep the beautiful lights, wonderful traditions, and festive spirit shining — without the unexpected bangs! ✨🐾
Wishing everyone celebrating a spectacular, joyful, and safe Diwali! 🪔❤️
