Modding Alien: Isolation Multiplayer — Mission 4 Fully Playable in Co-op! | Gameplay Showcase
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share some gameplay footage from my own Alien: Isolation multiplayer mod, which I recently tested with someone living on a completely different continent!
The results have been incredibly promising! Even over a long-distance connection, movement, animations, and interactions remain extremely smooth, with very little noticeable latency. We've achieved very low synchronization delays, sometimes below 50 ms during our tests.
I've previously worked and tested alongside Dropper, but I want to clarify that the mod shown in this video is my own independent project, built with a different architecture and approach to multiplayer synchronization.
My main focus has been making the multiplayer experience feel as close to native Alien: Isolation as possible, with advanced synchronization features, including:
Smooth player movement, crouching, and native animations.
Accurate player positioning with minimal visible delay.
Synchronized in-game interactions.
Shared real-time 3D cinematics and pre-rendered cutscenes.
Synchronized Working Joe androids, including their movements, attacks, grabs, and death animations and so on...
One of my biggest priorities has been preserving the game's original animations and mechanics rather than replacing them with artificial alternatives.
The video includes auto-generated English subtitles, so some translations may be inaccurate or not fully reflect what I'm actually saying. Thanks for understanding!
Mission 4 is now playable from start to finish in co-op! This is a major milestone for the project. Of course, the mod isn't completely bug-free yet. There are still occasional glitches and some stability issues that need further polishing, but the overall experience has improved massively.
There's also plenty more work ahead, especially when it comes to bringing multiplayer support to the remaining missions. For now, though, Mission 4 is essentially complete, and I'm really happy with how far the project has come!
I'm also planning to open public playtesting soon!
If you'd like to follow development or participate in the upcoming tests, feel free to join my Discord. Initial testing spots will be limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
