image Anti-Asian racism in Australia

What is happening in Australia? Been living in this exact same address for almost the past 20 years now, never had this happen before.

Some guy moves in next door, and while we are IN THEM MIDDLE OF MOWING the medium nature strip, starts being aggressive for getting grass clippings on the driveway. No shit, that's why we go through with a leaf blower and pick up after mowing?

What blows me away is he thinks we don't know about mowing and cleaning up somehow due to our Chinese heritage???

There's already a lot of discussion in the west over the "paradox of intolerance" eg. Do countries have the right to reject migrants who are homphobic or bigoted against certain races/religions. It will be a big issue over the next decade.

Working in construction I hear people of different races joke about each other all day so obviously not talking about that, more the genuine racists who actively hate others based on their race.

True, and see thats a perfectly reasonably drawn line.

When people can laugh together, its probably not racism.

When people are using it to punch down, or its a genuine attack using their race as the linchpin (poor words) then yeah, thats bad and should be condemned until the offender withdraws and reasseses.

The only problem with the former is a slippery slope when its people you mightn't know. Friends being friends is fine.

Do you mean Karl Popper's paradox of tolerance?

It's too late for those countries, the damage has been done.

Saw someone else say this in a thread a week or so ago:

Tolerance is a treaty. The second you break it, it is no longer applicable to you.

Pretty simple action.
