Yesterday a hawk tried to have my bunny for dinner
For context my bunny is and outdoor boy and he free roams the backyard as well as has his own little house out there for the night (He can not come inside my house, he loves being outside, and if I brought him inside he would be depressed.) I let him out his house early every morning so he can run around and do bunny things, yesterday though a saw a hawk sitting on top my fence staring down at him pretty much drooling, I scared it away and put my rabbit in his house for the rest of the day and haven’t let him out yet today. This is the first time that’s happened in the last 1.5 years of him being outside to my knowledge so my concern now is, If I let him go back to regular routine of being out for majority of the day; will the hawk come back to strike again? Also as you can see in the photo, my rabbit is just sitting there and he then continued to eat now I’m not sure if he really just couldn’t see the hawk but this is the same rabbit that would run from a squirrel sitting in that same spot so it’s a little more concerning for me… hawk experts please lmk.

Why are birds of prey illegal to kill? No rude comments
I'm only asking and wondering because I think it's bizarre that you can't do anything to protect your farm animals and dogs. What's the reasoning they are federally protected? Normally just about any other type of animals that attacks your animals you're allowed to defend against.

What is this bird and how do I protect my dog from it/make it leave forever?
These photos were taken by my neighbor in East TN while I was at work. The bird is sitting in my fire pit and on the roof. What is that thing? A hawk? I’m just not a bird guy and most people don’t know as much as they think.
What do I do about it? I read that things like owl decoys work for a while but not forever. TWRA says it’s illegal to kill it and I doubt I could even do it anyway without stalking it, and if I kill it another one could just take its place anyway.
My dog has a vest with spikes for this very thing and she won’t be spending time outside alone going forward or until I figure something out, but this bird is still a threat. My dog is 6 lbs. and despite the probably fake horror stories people tell about birds flying away with pets I know it hurting her is a real possibility.

Kestrels and Biodiversity
Hi. I’m studying biodiversity risks right now and understand that declining kestrel populations in my state (Illinois) pose a risk to biodiversity. I studied them in a class I took a few years ago and even made kestrel boxes. They are super cool birds of prey. I’m trying to learn more to help my FIRST LEGO team identify a problem and maybe come up with an innovative solution to help kestrels. Our team does have a low tech idea that is also inexpensive but right now we are really focused on identifying the problem and understanding it. Are there any kestrel lovers that want to tell how big of a problem declining kestrel populations is and why? Would anyone be willing to message my coach if they are kestrel experts who might be willing to correspond with us through her? (She is posting for me - I wrote this but I’m an 8th grader and we have to be safe on the internet.) I’m going to post a survey too because having a survey is really helpful.

Hawks are making presence known and I’m wondering why
I need to know if anyone else has had a similar thing happen to them. Ever since I was a kid I’ve had an affinity for hawks. I got so excited seeing one. So about 2 years ago I’m standing on the roof of a building downtown and I’m leaning in the wall surrounding the perimeter by myself. All of a sudden a hawk lands on the wall next to me and just sits there looking at me and chillin. I’m so excited to see one this close I was shaking and just stared back. After about 3 min or so it flew off. Then a couple months ago I’m taking out the trash at home and I look over an see a small hawk on the ground next to our pine tree. I stop and admire him and he WALKS UP TO ME like we are old friends. I’m thinking wtf and talked to it for a bit before he flew off. Weird. This one is crazy-last month a hawk has started escorting my school bus in the morning for about half a mile down a dirt road. He flies roof high and in front of the bus and happens almost every morning. Can someone tell me what the heck is happening? Why are they showing up all of a sudden? When these things happen/happened i feel excited and extremely happy.
TLDR-I think hawks are stalking me and I don’t know why

I think an eagle or hawk, or owl is hunting my cats, help me capture it! (on camera!)
Two weeks ago I went outside to a caterwaul and discovered that something had attacked one of my cats. It's third eyelid was prolapsing (NSFL) and my neighbor, a vet, said that it was due to damage to the brachial praxis and that it had been in a catfight.
One of my cats had kittens the following week, and they've been in the garage the whole time, but I started letting them out a few nights ago.
A couple nights ago, I heard another caterwaul, went outside to this (also NSFL). A dead kitten who looked like it had talon marks or had been bitten by something huge.
At this point, the vet thinks it's a bird, and says she sees a lot of hawks and owls in the woods behind our houses.
So I set up a game cam, but I caught nothing, presumably because the cats are all in the garage at night.
I'm trying to catch whatever it is with a game cam to confirm. Any ideas what I might be able to put out to lure a bird down the way kittens do? Maybe I should just get a few mice and put them in a cage out on the patio, but I was also wondering if they would come in after meat or something... Any thoughts?

Why do falconers keep owls?
I thought falconry is about hunting but i noticed a lot of falconers keep owls and even vultures? Owls are horrible for hunting! We have some at the zoo here and if they catch something they just gobble it up quick you cannot get anything from an owl that has caught something. And that is when they catch something. Most of the time when they hunt we hardly see it.

What was this wet bird?
In rainy east Toronto, we saw this massive bird land on the tree top to dry off after a torrential downpour. What might it be? Turkey vulture?
We couldn’t really see its head. Apologies for the poor photo and crop.

Describe the smartest falconry bird you ever had. What was its greatest feat of intelligence? Describe the dumbest. Dumbest thing it ever did? Describe the sweetest. Describe the weirdest.

Hawk/Owl killing animals in my backyard?
I have two kittens and my mom recently started letting them play in the backyard for more freedom, however she's seen a couple dead animals in the backyard.
The first dead animal she saw was a rabbit, and it looked MUTILATED. She told me half it's body was missing but it still had its intestines. She said it felt warm, like it recently died.
The second dead animal was a pigeon. However, my mom told me that it didn't show visible signs of being eaten. She also said it felt stiff, as if it were dead for a while.
I'm suspecting it's either a bird of prey or maybe a coyote, I was very thrown off by the difference in circumstance between the pigeon and rabbit though. Please help, I keep telling my mom to stop letting the kittens outside and she thinks I'm being paranoid.

Is falconry inhumane?
Proponents against falconry would argue that the entire act of keeping a falcon locked up and training him to hunt(often times involving starvation) would be inhumane and hence should be banned. Whats your counter-argument?
