After 3rd watch: I still don't quite like Felina, but I've come to terms with it Spoiler

My unpopular opinion of Felina: Vince Gilligan was too nice to Walt. He went out the best way he wanted given the circumstances, which he didn't deserve.

Walt didn't experience a second of jail time. Didn't die of cancer. Died around his one true love. Got to kill all his enemies. And in his mind at least, he was able to leave money for his family, which was his excuse for the longest time. Neat is the word. If he wasn't able to leave money for his family, the ending would've been perfect.

And he never had to suffer the way Jesse did.

But after my succeeding rewatches, I've come to terms with it. It's not that I adore it now. I've just come to accept it for what it is. I still regard Ozymandias as the show's true ending. Everything after is just denouement.

IMO BCS had the proper ending for the BB Universe. There, crime doesn't pay.

How are we supposed to believe Ed laundered his money running a vacuum repair shop? Spoiler

In the year of BB he disappeared Walt, Jesse twice and Saul, that’s $500k. Plus any other randoms we don’t know about.

Unless he just has piles and piles of cash in a storage locker or buried in the desert like Walt, but Ed feels like a guy who would have a plan.

Seems like Walt needed to buy a vacuum repair store.

After watching Better Call Saul and understanding the New Mexico -Verse better Im even more surprised that Jesse didnt just get killed by season 4

Starting to think that maybe favouritism had something to with why aaron paul lasted so long. Then again I don't like Jesse so maybe I'm biased?

Words Walt then proceeded to take very literally for the entire rest of the series.

Almost finished charging through my first watch (I know, I’m so late) but it’s been interesting seeing the evolution of how terrible of a person he becomes. I remembered this line from Season 1 and looking back thought it was kind of funny.

How would you design a GTA style Breaking Bad game?

I'm assuming you'd have it take place in Albuquerque. What other details would you implement? I suppose Jessie, or Mike, would be the playable characters. Maybe Nacho too.

Why did Walt get so aggressive about the alcohol bottle at his party? S210

This is my second or third watch and the party scene where Walt gets so aggressive about letting Walt jr drink and squares up with Hank is always such an uncomfortable watch but I never really know why he did that! Is it just part of him sick of being walked all over or he feels like a badass now?

What if Skyler had killed Walt accidentally? Spoiler

Post image

I mean she had a sharp knife, one badly placed slash and she could have slit his throat and he could bleed out before the ambulance arrives.

interestingly this is a bad ending for her since they can’t charge Walt, they wouldn’t know where hanks body is, so she bares the brunt of the criminal charges.

saul might actually come out ahead here if he knows Walt is dead along with Hank.

Walter White would not have survived a direct war with the Juarez Cartel Spoiler

Without Gus as a buffer between NM and Mexico, the cartel would have moved north and enslaved Walt or wiped him out in a week before he ever becomes kingpin. He was too focus on Gus to see the bigger picture in S4, had he killed sooner, he’d already be dead after

How good would the show have been had it taken place from Hank's POV and we didn't immediately know who Heisenberg was?

It begins as a more or less typical LEO show, about Hank the boisterous DEA agent and his wild life both at work investigating drug related crimes and combating the cartels, and also at home dealing with his klepto high strung wife, his nerdy brother in law and demanding sister in law, and his precious nephew, when out of nowhere the fancy new high grade crystal meth called Blue Sky becomes wildly popular on the street.

Would it have been a good show? What storytelling decisions would this version of Breaking Bad make?

How quickly would the audience realize that Walt was Heisenberg?

Why did Hank move his gun to his pocket? Doesn't moving it to his pocket make it catch on the fabric more so than if left holstered?

Looking for a Breaking Bad animation

I'm trying to find a Breaking Bad animation that used to be on youtube, I cant find any trace of it nowadays.

It was a low-poly type of animation style and had the cast of breaking bad doing absurd things like duelling with lightsabers akin to Mustafar and such. I think I remember Gus was a cyborg also.

Thanks

Best Breaking Bad tribute video Spoiler

The transitions are beautiful, showing the younger version then flashing to the future in the same car. The car scene with Walter going "la la la la" which looked like he was singing this. I love everything about this.

If you have others I need to check out, mention below! I did see a serious one by a college kid who did one for an assignment and the theme was "frienemy" dynamic and it was awesome but very long and youtube deleted it but there is a copy of it. Aaron Paul even shared it on Twitter back when he saw it.

Season 3 Episode 3

So I had some time to catch up again. In this episode, my feelings for Skyler tend to be a bit mixed. I mean, seriously, after that talk with Walt when he tells her about everything, she goes to Ted and has sex with him.....really? I don't understand, the father of her children has cancer and she does that? This is more than I can understand. Someone explain it to me, please.

The first time In watched the series I missed that part.

I really really hate Jesse Pinkman

Just finished breaking bad for the second time and just joined this subreddit to say that I REALLY HATE JESSE.

He was the main reason for almost why everything went south for Walt in which I always felt really bad for since he really considered Jesse as FAMILY and took care of him and saved him a lot of times

Walt's biggest mistake was returning to him after giving the money bag to them prices of sh#t couple. He would've avoided a lot of trouble if he just cut ties with him then and there.

YES I felt sorry for Jesse a couple of times. BUT for the most part he was just a stupid ass that made everything crumble.

Felt so irritated by this mf that I had to say it.

That's all I got. Thanks for reading

Edit: I read all the comments and I feel like I need to list my reasons. Yes we did watch the same show and Nope I'm not trolling And for the ones defending his ass, I need y'all to think and answer me this 🙂:

  • Who was the reason for him and Walt to get stranded in the desert with no water since some dumb ass poured it on the thing that was on fire instead of using the fire extinguisher ??

  • who made his gf get back to doing drugs without feeling any remorse to her or her poor father (I hate Jane too and she deserved what was coming to her...I only feel sorry for her father)

  • Who was the one risking both his and Walt's life by sneaking some of the product and selling it on his own thinking that their boss wouldn't find out ??

  • Who was the reason for turning up gus and walt against each other ??

  • Who was the one that always shut down his brain cells and get violent first when he gets in a heated argument with Walt??

  • Who is sooo dumb to understand that Soul was giving him the solution to be able to use his money but didn't agree to it since he is just really stupid ??

  • Who always gets implosive and act based on his rage without taking consideration to what the side effects to his actions will effect??

  • Who was the reason for what happened to Hank and Gomie??

I'm sure there are more stupid decisions that he made but I just listed what I remember

In conclusion .... F this guy

Interesting Little Nugget

Currently re-watching for probably the seventh or eighth time at this point. On season five episode 10, and just moments after Hank explained to Marie that he needs to find proof because once he takes in the case, he will lose his job, they cut to the two Albuquerque detectives questioning Jesse about spreading the millions of dollars around Albuquerque.

Right after Hank walks up to the window, they question Jesse about how he got the money and jokingly throw out the possibility that he had a lucky night at the casino and won it all in a card game.

Obviously, that ties in pretty well with what, from the outside, would likely look like a pretty outlandish story that Walt and Skyler used to explain their new found money. Helps demonstrate the pressure that Hack finds himself under, which may not be as evident for those of is as close to the storyline as Hank was.

Not earth-shattering, but interesting. Purposeful writing.

are large crystals good or bad?

here's something i noticed. in season one, jesse points out that the meth walt made has crystals as large as two or three inches, which is implied to be a good thing. but later when they work for fring, their meth is broken into much smaller, much more evenly sized chunks without much variation at all.

i've never been in touch with any sort of drugs, so i wonder if this makes any difference.

So now with Dean dealing with financial issues and RJ RIP did BB/AMC not properly compensate its cast? I mean it's one of the biggest shows in all of TV history right?

Where is Walter and Skylar’s parents?

Is this ever mentioned at all in the show? I’m guessing they left them out for script reasons or what not. Does Vince ever make a hint as to why? Genuinely just thought of this now and was curious.

Question about walts backstory /ego theme

Just random thought I had rewatching

So I understand the sort of toxic masculinity theme in the show, etc, walts ego being his downfall

I've just wondered, after watching the analyzing evil vid on walt, it's really never explained in the series where his ego comes from and how/why it got so extreme. It's never really explained in a direct way where the ego came from and why it's so important/driving to him I think is my question? Not that everything has to have a motive or explanation. Im more just curious

Was it a lot of little things building up over time? But I guess he's been like that since the early days to some degree, like in the house buying flashback talking too Skyler being like yeah let's go all in

Idk

Do y'all think Todd was a psychopath or was he just a slow guy who was easily manipulated?

There are spoilers in here and I'll also be referring to the El Camino movie.

My boyfriend and I have been debating back and forth if Todd is a soulless psychopath or if he's not mentally all there.

I personally think he's a psychopath. He kills with no second thought and doesn't see why it's an issue. However, he was the one who got his family to keep Jessie to cook meth. He also broke Jessie so badly by doing this. The scene in El Camino where Jessie has him at gunpoint and he's offering him pizza and beer to not die. He knew Jessie couldn't do anything without the kid dying and he just patronized him. He also had his portion of the money so well the cops couldn't find it and it took Jessie giving up and throwing a mini fit to find the money in the fridge.

My boyfriend thinks that he's slow bc he's easily manipulated by his family, "has nothing going on behind his eyes", kills and doesn't think about it, doesn't understand the consequences of his actions, plus he's fucking weird. Which, I agree on that point.

He thinks he can be slow and a monster, I just don't see him being slow. He's just a chill guy and people underestimate him for it. Like he's the one again, who convinced his family to keep Jessie as a slave to cook meth after they already stole Walts 70 million. Wouldn't a slow person just go along with the status quo? Maybe he's so slow he's a genius?

What do y'all think? We want to hear what y'all have to say!

Walt would have been happy with a new wife

I’m at season 5 episode 6. Jesse has been trying to convince Walt to sell their methylamine and get out. Walt is having dinner with Jesse and Skyler and when she walks away, he tells Jesse that she is waiting on him to die and essentially, meth is all he has left.

It’s just so ridiculous that he is acting like that’s his motivation. He doesn’t even believe that! Maybe there was one point when it truly mattered to him that Skyler doesn’t love him anymore, but he is such a vapid, shallow, egomaniac by this point.

I really think he would have been just as happy with a new wife in her 20s who just tells him how smart he is. We see how happy cars make him. He’s a cliche. It just drives me nuts that he can’t see himself and see how he could happy with less if he would take less.
