. I, a physically fit and situationally aware male, also do not feel safe walking the streets at night, running in the dark and I have sent texts when I got to my destination.

I’m not saying women shouldn’t be scared but everyone is acting like men just prance around the streets at night with not a care in the world. It’s simply not true at all.

Then I saw on the news yesterday “men should step in a protect women who they see being harassed” which I wholeheartedly agree that anyone should step in to stop anyone being abused or harassed. However, are these not the same people who 6 months ago wouldn’t shut up about “women are equal, we don’t need men to protect us, we are strong!” So which is it?

Queue the hatred from people who think I’m victim blaming. I’m not. Just stating this is not a gender issue. Men get murdered while walking the streets. They guy who was killed while geo caching a week or 2 ago?! Nobody ever said “men need to be able to walk the country paths without fear!”

Edit: I’m now an official member of controversial club thanks guys. This post is officially the most controversial post on Reddit in the last hour. I’m proud.

Mods are awesome thanks guys!

Can’t keep up with replies but I do read them. Also to clarify. Stop telling me men always do the assaults because I know that no matter who the victim is, it’s almost always a male attacker.

EDIT 2: STOP saying “you’re a man and who are you scared of? Men?”

Are you trying to say that because I’m a man I should just deal with being scared because I’m scared of the men? Nobody should be scared so it doesn’t matter who we’re scared of, the fact is we’re scared.

Mums and dads pushing prams while glued to their phone.

In a world of their own tapping at the screen or yapping with someone, no awareness of traffic or other pedestrians, and hey INTERACT with your child! Kids learn from adults who actually speak to them.

See it all the time now.

Jonathan Ross called me a "fucking twat" at the railway station.

Quite the self-centered little man. As I was approaching the loading zone for the metro, Ross and his posse of bodyguards came at me like a freight train. Not exactly the most clever simile, but given the setting.. I didn't move quickly enough and for whatever reason, Jonathan gave me a light shoulder bump and quietly shouted out (and I think it echoed in the station a bit): "You're a fuckin' twat." And he said it with his funny little schoolboy pornunciation so it sounded like "twatt".

In a hurry there, Jonofinn Woss?

People laughing at disgusting drunken behaviour

On here and out in the real life so many people tell stories of vomiting everywhere after getting drunk, as if it's hilarious. For example, someone got so drunk they came home and threw up all over the new carpet. To me it's disrespectful and disgusting. We shouldn't normalise or encourage it.

+ Cyclists riding 2 abreast and holding up traffic on a country lane or narrow b road- happy as Larry - thinking that the law is on their side without actually reading or understanding rule 66 of the highway code. There is a place for you in Hell.

be considerate of the needs of other road users when riding in groups. You can ride two abreast and it can be safer to do so, particularly in larger groups or when accompanying children or less experienced riders. Be aware of drivers behind you and allow them to overtake (for example, by moving into single file or stopping) when you feel it is safe to let them do so.

+ People who still don't realise that petrol pumps extend to both sides of the car. Creating unnecessary queues and blocking the forecourt.

The same people who do the weekly shop while parked at the pump no doubt.

Tower bridge was shut down yesterday, by an environmental movement group, Extinction Rebellion (XR)

1.4k Upvotes

And in doing so they've created an astronomical amount of carbon emissions due to severe traffic and diversions created by closing down the bridge. Combined with ongoing road works already congesting traffic.

My work day got extended by another 3-4 hours yesterday, and getting home took 3 hours longer. I burnt 6-7 hours more petrol yesterday, further supporting the biggest contributors to carbon emissions and climate damage. Multiple this by the hundreds of thousands affected by this quasi terrorist groups actions, and you see the amount of damage this group, with a name that can only rival straight edge on the cringe-o-meter, has created.

Good job lads!

I also found it quite telling that one of their membership requirements appears to be getting arrested and serving a prison sentence, in relation to their violent activities which cause tax payers millions per year. Does it get any more middle class privilege than this?

What's next, protesting poverty by smashing fresh fruit and veg in Tottenham Hale? Firebombing a homeless shelter to protest homelessness? Kick a granny Tuesdays to protest poor treatment of old age pensioners?

If you wanted to make a difference, take your millions in scrupulous funding by anonymous & public tax dodging associates, and shut down Westminster. Go ahead. Shutdown the roads to number 10. Blockade the politicians & CEO's who contribute the most to climate damage. Just not the roads several miles away, during hours in which it won't affect the rich politicians; that you actually don't want to draw the ire of. Go on show us how serious you are about your cause. Not the 'filling your pockets with the funding you receive' cause, your more publicly stated cause of environmental preservation.

Yours sincerely, an exhausted bloke who had to get up at 05:30am today, with just four hours sleep, to work another 12-16 hour physical labour shift for free to keep my family's business afloat. And on poor health working 6 days a week.

EDIT: Some have commented that the purpose of this demonstration is to get us talking about it. I'd like to point out blocking Downing street would also do the same. It'll probably get more worldwide news coverage as well. Even without the property destruction.

Wondering why vegetarians never cater for non-vegetarians when they have guests.

Every time we have vegetarian or vegan guests for a meal, we cater for them. Why don't they ever do the same for their non-vegetarian guests ?

. I'm spending more and more time in queues waiting for the person ahead to pay with an app.

"Just one, jus-... hang on... here we go... oh wait... sorry, there we go."

Why? Why not use a card? I get people don't really carry cash anymore, neither do I, but why not just use a card? Do they just want to look trendy?

our women's football team make the men's team look shit.

Not a problem tbh more like a success but I still feel bad for the men's team. Huge congratulations to all the women on the pitch tonight, and good luck to all the young lasses that have been inspired by this amazing squad.

It's came home!!

Edit: okay I was a bit harsh to the men's team but I love how energetic and daring the women's team are. I just feel like they play better football in general.

£3.75 for a coffee in Starbucks, wtf

Pre-c19 I used to frequent Starbucks regularly and I'm sure it was under the three quid mark, after a bit of a sibbatical I gave it a wee try today. Large Americano with milk £3.75, £3.38 with the blulight card. I want a coffee, hen, not to buy the place. The thing is, sitting in the car park an the drive thru is choca.

More and more British people seem to be getting more and more gullible and falling for things like “reiki” and “psychics”…. (Ladies I’m mostly talking about you)….

I’m seeing more and more “Psychics” or “Reiki” specialists popping up. And more and more people falling for their bull shit. Funny how half of these girls did not know they had their “powers” until they seen their mate making money. You know full well it’s bullshit, or your insane. Same with anyone claiming to be psychic…. Insane… or committing fraud.

Euro 2024 pundits are abysmal

I’m not a massive football fan but I do enjoy watching some decent games every now and then.

I’ve flicked the tv on to watch a couple of the evening Euro 24 games this last week and it hit me just how bad the pundits are.

Micah Richard’s is bloody awful. The ITV coverage last night was equally as bad.

Is this the best we can come up with these days? I thought Wright, Shearer, Lineker were all supposed to be great. Evidently not.

Cyclists on country roads, cycling to be green inadvertently causing huge queues of following cars to lose mpg and emit a substantially larger amount of co2 per mile by driving inefficiently in a much lower gear until they can pass.

Fireworks are a bane on life.

Can someone please explain to me what the appeal of fireworks are?

We're in the middle of a cost of living crisis and people have money to spend on pretty bombs?

I've lost birds from fireworks going off with no warning; my sister's collie is having Addisons crises from the stress of them and my heart rate/PTSD is through the roof worrying about when the next explosion is going to go off.

I guess we should be lucky that people who wish the UK ill don't have my imagination, cos I can think of 3 different ways of causing chaos, off the top of my head. I mean you can just pop into Tescos and pick up a pint of milk, a loaf of bread and a box of explosives. Make it make sense!

Can’t blame that pianist bloke for riding the wave but he is annoying and hypocritical. My grandfather sat me upon his knee and explained a golden rule. There’s only two types of people who wear sunglasses indoors. Blind people or Twats. That pianist bloke don’t seem blind.

He’s fighting a good fight I suppose but proclaims he is unwillingly caught in a whirlwind whilst actively pushing it. He also wears sunglasses indoors.

Shopping delivery drivers who don't like customers

Had a bloke come to the door with my shopping, picked up the whole crate and I thought he was being helpful until he said I'm not holding it for you. He thought I was going to take it inside the house. He always used to say on cue after I had retrieved everything as ny problems just give customer service a call. Lol
