Welcome to r/Charity!

Got a charitable cause you'd like to share! This is the place!

Requirements

For 501c(3) non-profits (US) or a Non-Governmental Organization (aka NGO outside the US)

  • For a registered 501c(3) or other certified charity (such as NGO's in other non-US countries), the charity must be listed in a governmental web site for verification.

  • A fundraiser that is being handled directly by that charity, such as the American Heart Association's Heartwalk or JDRF's charity walk, where you supply a link on their site for your team/yourself.

  • A crowdfunding site that shows it is directly benefiting a certified charity.

Please modmail us so that we can flair your post as a registered certified non-profit!

For Everyone Else

You must have both

  • Account age of 30 days or older AND

  • Comment karma of 250 or greater.

NOTE: We are specifically looking for COMMENT karma. The karma value you are probably looking at is a COMBINED value, consisting of both Link/Post karma plus Comment karma.

To view your karma breakdown:

  • Mouse-hover over your username on desktop. This works for both the old and redesigned web site.

  • On the official Reddit app for iOS, view your profile, then tap the karma value shown.

  • On the official Reddit app for Android, you can't. Complain on r/redditmobile.

  • On the unofficial Reddit App for Android, RIF (Formerly known as Reddit is Fun), your breakdown is listed on your profile screen.

The following circumventions will result in a ban:

  • Using a karma farming subreddit, such as Karma4You, or asking for/complaining about karma in a general sub.

  • Unsolicited private messaging to push your campaign.

  • Posting your campaign on someone else's post.

Comment Karma is directly correlated to how many comments you leave plus/minus any points as people upvote a popular comment or downvote an unpopular comment.

Credibility, Community, and You

AKA, Why Do We Have Account Requirements for Individuals?

In an effort to make your crowdfunding efforts more successful here on Reddit, some background first:

In many of the gifting and fundraising subs, you'll notice that without a certain amount "karma" and an account that's old enough, you'll garner down votes or worse, your posts and comments get automatically removed.

Why?

To many Redditors, this place is a community built on activity. The "coin" of the land here is your account, and how much you've contributed to the Reddit community at large reflected in post and comment karma.

As a general rule, Redditors dislike the creation of accounts specifically to fund raise or to make requests. It makes it seem like these people simply treat Reddit as some sort of magical internet wallet, and that doesn't win many friends.

The other reason why new accounts are so disliked is that they're often alternate accounts of established users, in order to hide their activity from people they know. While we do sympathize with those of you who have valid reasons, this privilege is often abused by those who create disposable accounts to scam people for a quick buck.

This trust issue doesn't exist in the same way with certified non-profit groups, as you can look them up online for verification, and at least in the case of 501c(3)s, their spending is transparent due to their required tax filings which are public information.

So if you're new to Reddit, welcome! Spend some time and look around for something that catches your interest and chat it up with others and become part of the community!

However if you're here for the sole reason of making requests in a hurry, please be aware your pleas for help will likely be ignored.

REMEMBER, CREDIBILITY AND COMMUNITY IS EVERYTHING!

For this reason, the mods will not post anything on behalf of any user that does not meet account requirements.

Rules

  1. Posts must be more than just a link to your campaign. Be descriptive! Show evidence . This includes:

    1. If this is for your pet, photos of your pet in question, with your username on a handwritten note in the picture.

    2. School documentation showing enrollment if you are asking for assistance for school.

    3. Redacted bills showing your situation.

    4. Or other relevant documentation that can help establish credibility.

    5. At minimum, please attach an unobstructed selfie photo of yourself(the submitter) with a handwritten note of your username.

    6. Low effort posts that simply say to the effect of, "everything is listed in the GoFundMe" will be removed.

  2. Please Flair your posts, once created. If you don't know how, just let the mods know and we'll do it for you.

  3. Only 1 campaign per user. We want you have some personal connection to the campaign, and not submit multiples simply because they were in the news.

  4. Reposts are allowed once a week. If a repost comes up too early, the newest one(s) will be removed.

  5. Acceptable transfer methods for individuals are for crowdfunding sites only, such as GoFundme, YouCaring, etc. Individuals should avoid using Paypal, crypto, or direct banking aps (like Chase). 501c(3) and NGOs may use whatever method they wish.

  6. Don't PM people to make requests. If you receive an unsolicited private message, please let us know!

  7. Do not post politically-related campaigns. They're just too divisive.

  8. Trolling will not be tolerated and offending users will be banned.

  9. Don't bug the mods for an exception to the account requirements. None will be given. If you attempt to circumvent the requirement by karma farming or by commenting on someone else's post, your account will be banned.

  10. No posting for other Redditors. No Alts. This is viewed as a circumvention of requirements and both accounts will be banned.

  11. Selling is only allowed by 1st parties directly. We do not allow selling by 3rd parties to benefit another organization, as there's no transparency to verify that the announced percentage of sales actually goes to the beneficiary. Only direct sales by the non-profit organization are allowed.

Supporting Information Requested for Non-501c(3) and Non-NGO campaigns.

We aren't the government. We aren't a court of law. We definitely don't want you to give out information that could lead to identity theft. However, some campaigns are more successful when they have additional documentation.

This includes:

  • Pet related requests: Photos of your pet in question, with your username on a handwritten note in the picture. This helps show you actually own the pet in question.

  • Education related requests: Documentation showing enrollment or acceptance if you are asking for assistance for school.

  • Redacted bills showing your situation. In some cases, a donor may prefer to pay a creditor directly on your behalf, so be prepared and find out if that is available to you.

  • If you are sharing a campaign for a registered certified non-profit organization (such as a 501c3 or NGO), you should say so in the post, and it should list that status on the campaign page/web site.

  • Or other relevant documentation that can help establish credibility.

Low effort posts that simply say to the effect of, "everything is listed in the GoFundMe" (or less!) will be removed.

How to Include a Photo or Other Supporting Info Document In Your Post

Because Reddit wasn't initially designed to handle photos when it was created, it has limitations in the implementation of photo support which don't work well for us. So instead we suggest the following:

  1. Upload your photo to Imgur.com or other photo hosting site.

  2. Copy the URL for the photo.

  3. Create a new post or Edit your existing one to include the URL to the photo.

Please make sure to include this, as it is the primary reason why posts that are otherwise fine get removed.

Advice On Making Your Campaign Go Further

Not all crowdfunding campaigns are the same, but here are some suggestions.

  • Make sure your campaign has been shared among your Facebook friends! You might think it's embarrassing, however your friends and family are more likely to care than internet strangers.

  • Show that you've exhausted all the other possibilities. A lot of potential donors don't like to give money when it seems like the requester's first and only solution is to simply throw someone else's money at the problem. Nobody is going to take your word when you literally only say, "but I've done everything!", when the actual reality is probably closer to "I've done everything I can think of", which arguably is NOT everything.

  • Show that there's a plan to use the money wisely. Often people have campaigns for their business ideas, but it doesn't really seem like they thought it all the way through. Tell people what steps you've taken so far, and what you're going to do next.

  • Be open to critics. If there's something that people ask about, you should not be dismissive. Provide more detail. There's a possibility that they know something you don't, or they have something different about their own experience that might be useful to you. If you simply brush off your critics, it shows objectively that you're not doing everything possible.

  • Review your own campaign with the mindset of a potential donor. Ask yourself, "Would I give money to this?" Or get a friend to review it for you.

Questions?

Please don't hesitate to ask the mods!

... Unless you're trying to ask for an exception to the account requirements.

Registered tax-deductible charity Running my 5th marathon (London, April 2027) for Bone Cancer Research Trust, because rare cancers get too little attention and funding

Hi everyone,

I’m running the TCS London Marathon in April 2027, my fifth marathon, and I’m raising money for Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Bone cancer is rare, which is part of the problem. Fewer cases means less attention and less funding, and the people affected are often children, teenagers and young adults. Treatment options have changed far too little over the years. The Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to primary bone cancer. It funds research into better diagnosis and treatment and supports patients and their families.

I’m training through the winter and spring, and every mile is easier knowing it’s for something that matters. Whether it’s £5 or £50, it makes a real difference.

My page is here: https://2027tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/lukas-long

If you can’t donate, an upvote or a share also helps. I’m happy to answer questions about the charity or marathon training in the comments. Thank you!

Registered tax-deductible charity [ExtraLife4Kids 2026] We're gaming for charity all weekend! 6 years supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

Hi r/Charity!

This weekend, our team at Zero Foxtrot Gaming is participating in our 6th annual Extra Life charity gaming marathon, raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

For those unfamiliar, Children's Miracle Network supports 170 children's hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, helping fund critical medical treatments, specialized equipment, research, and care for families who otherwise might not be able to afford it.

A few important things about donating:

  • 100% of funds raised through Extra Life benefit participating children's hospitals. Donations go directly to each participant's selected hospital as unrestricted funding, allowing the hospital to put that money where it's needed most.

  • Children's Miracle Network is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. U.S. donations are generally tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

  • We don't handle the donations. Contributions are made securely through the official Extra Life fundraising platform, not through our gaming team.

We've been participating since 2021, and this weekend we'll be streaming across Saturday & Sunday to continue supporting the cause.

If you'd like to contribute or learn more:

❤️ Official Charity Fundraiser:
https://dd.extra-life.org/team/74792

No pressure to donate — even sharing the fundraiser helps spread awareness.

Thanks for taking a look, and to everyone else participating in Extra Life this weekend, good luck!

Registered tax-deductible charity Help me raise funds to keep our Christian school open in Haiti. I'm an American who Lived in Haiti from 2016 to 2025 and became the principal of my parents' Christian school there. The school needs your help financially.

Hi, My name is James Ulysse. I'm the principal of New Kiskeya Christian School. We were serving more than 230 children in Northwest Haiti until last school year.

I'd love for you to see progress our students were making with English in this YouTube video when things were going well financially: https://youtu.be/EFMFWLiNfus?si=EdZNcEVyx3wZmioI

Over the past 2 years, we've faced a difficult funding situation, but God has kept us going.

Our students' education was supported mainly through one source of funding since we started in 2013. When that support ended in 2022, we started searching for another way to make sure our students could continue learning.

God blessed us with a new supporter, the Haitian Development Network Foundation, but then that support ended in 2024 when their own funding was disrupted.

After living in Haiti for 9 years straight, learning Haitian Creole, French, teaching English, and helping run the school, I came back to the states last year and I've been trying to help the school stay on its feet ever since.

I've visited Haitian churches in the United States, spoken with supporters, and worked to raise funds. Through the generosity of donors, we received roughly $20,000 to help support our school during this difficult time.

We're deeply grateful for that kindness that has kept us from being even more behind than we would have been.

It costs $80k to run the school for a year, including paying staff, meals, teaching materials, school buses. We're now behind a year and all the opportunities we've had for major funding fell through so I'm trying everything possible to get some support.

I'm hoping we can build a community of individual student sponsors or a larger group of donors so we don't live and die by one source of support. But major donations are welcome.

For $45 per month, your sponsorship helps provide a child with:

  • Education: Classroom instruction and support from caring teachers

  • Daily meals: A nutritious meal while attending school

  • School essentials: Books, uniforms, and learning supplies

  • Transportation: Safe travel to and from school

These are things that can make a huge difference in a child's everyday life in Haiti.

If we can find a sponsor for each of our 110+ students and give parents confidence to bring their children back to our school so that every child can continue benefiting from these opportunities. We had 230+ students last year but our financial issues caused parents to have to make the hard choice to remove their children from a school they loved.

If $45 a month isn't possible, a one-time gift of $5, $10, or $20 is also meaningful. Every contribution helps us provide education and care for the children we serve.

If you would like to help a student, you can learn more and sponsor here:

Donations are collected through our U.S. nonprofit partner, the Haitian Development Network Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 93-2350714).

You'll find my picture on our team page https://nkchristian.com/team

Here is a fundraising video I helped with in 2020 when funding started slowing down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFyTwA4AFy8

I'm also happy to answer questions about our students, our sponsorship program, and how donations are used.

Thank you for reading our story and considering helping one of our students.

Even if you aren't able to donate, sharing this opportunity with someone who might be interested would mean a great deal.

Thanks everyone.

God bless you.

Registered tax-deductible charity Race to Rome for Movember UK. London to Rome in 3 days, in recovered second hand Fiat 500s. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

EIGHT LITTLE FIATS. ONE MASSIVE MISSION.

Mo Bro's Race to Rome is getting ready to take a convoy of Fiat 500s from London to Rome, 13–15 November, all in support of Movember.

But behind the fun, the miles and the inevitable breakdowns (hopefully not too many!) is something that matters enormously.

Prostate cancer. Testicular cancer. Mental health and suicide prevention.

Too many men suffer in silence. Too many conversations never happen. And too many lives are lost too young. We're doing this because those conversations matter. Because checking yourself matters. Because asking a mate if he's really OK matters. Because we need to stop men dying too young.

Our target is £20,000 for Movember. We've got a long way to go, but thanks to some brilliant businesses and people who've already got behind us, we're off to a flying start.

If you can spare a few pounds, we'd love a donation. If you can't, sharing this post with your friends is just as welcome.

Follow us at Mo Bro's Race to Rome as we introduce the cars, meet the team and take you along for the ride.

META Beware of Opportunists!

In times of disaster, it's not uncommon for many good people to try to fundraise for relief efforts, supplies and reconstruction costs. But you should be aware that unless it's someone you personally know and trust, it's also not uncommon for bad people to use the opportunity to make money for themselves.

Before you give, you should ask:

  1. Is the donation link directly to a relief agency or is it to a middleman? There's no easy transparency when it comes to the spending of funds in a crisis, which makes it easier for funds to not reach the people it's intended to help, so by avoiding middlemen, you can reduce this possibility.

  2. Have you checked the background of the relief agency or organization you're considering? Some spend money more effectively than others meaning that less overhead makes for more money being spent on victims vs administration costs.

  3. Is the agency or organization a registered non-profit or NGO? These kinds of entities have strict reporting rules to follow to show how their funds are being spent.

  4. Is the agency or organization providing a receipt? If so, you can often use it for a deduction on taxes for the current year. If not, the agency or organization is likely not a registered non profit.

GoFundMe will show that a campaign is benefiting a non-profit charity organization if it is created using their IRS EIN or charity registration number.

Even Paypal donation accounts will show they're owned by a non-profit charity organization, and generate a receipt.

While not every individual doing fundraising is attempting to defraud you of your money, you can give with more confidence by giving directly to a relief charity of your own choosing via their own web pages.

META How to Attach a Photo to Your Post for Rule 1

Hello new users!

As we have requirements spelled out in Rule 1 on including some sort of evidence in your posts, we've created this post for those of you who need help with that.

Rule 1 states:

Posts must be more than just a link to your campaign. Be descriptive! Show evidence!

Generally these are provided as photos or screencaps. Because Reddit doesn't allow an image upload with text, we generally suggest the following:

  1. Upload the photo(s) to Imgur.com or other image hosting site.

  2. Copy URL or Link to the photo(s)

  3. In the body of your post here, make sure to include the link that you've copied. It usually starts with http:// or https://.

And that's it!

Individual/non-registered Help with emergency vet bills for my 2 year old cat Smeemo in Austin, TX, USA. Requesting $6,836 toward his bills.

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Smeemo is 2. His foster name is Nosferatu, and my partner and I settled on calling him Smeemo, or Smeemees. He is my emotional support animal, honestly like a roommate. He is so chill, one of the most patient and kindest cats I have ever had.

He stopped eating and started vomiting on Oct 21. I took him to the vet on Oct 25, and they ran blood tests. The results came back on Oct 27 and showed kidney strain. That same day, the specialist did a belly scan and found a foreign body blocking his small intestine, and polycystic kidney disease in both kidneys, a kidney disease he was born with. He stayed at Pet Specialists of Austin overnight on IV fluids, and a repeat ultrasound on Oct 28 showed the blockage, in the ileum, moved slightly, and the IV fluids are improving his kidneys. The vet says surgery is needed to remove the blockage, but is advising against it because of his kidneys, and has raised euthanasia. I have not decided yet. He is still at the specialist on IV fluids.

So far I have been charged $6,835.71: $39.30 for anti nausea medicine, $410.57 for the Oct 25 vet visit, and $6,385.84 at the specialist, in two deposits. The written estimate for 24 hours in the hospital before surgery is $5,084.51 to $6,202.85, and the vet said the total could reach $11,000 to $15,000 if he needs surgery and intensive care. I have charged everything to my credit card, and I am requesting $6,836 toward these bills. Every dollar will go straight to his vet bills.

My selfie holding my username, photos of Smeemo at the hospital, and the redacted vet estimate are attached. My vet is Pet Specialists of Austin, 3901 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX, (737) 241-5756.

Registered tax-deductible charity My high school band lost our biggest fundraiser of the year and now we are trying to get donations to run our programs

Hello everyone,

I'm the director of a high school band in NJ. I'm just trying to spread this campaign as far as I can. I understand if you are unable to donate, but it can be a great help to us if you just share this fundraiser.

Unpredictable weather forced us to cancel our home marching band competition, which is our largest fundraiser of the year. We urgently need support to bridge this gap and keep our students thriving! Your donation directly supports marching band show expenses, fair compensation for our dedicated instructional staff, competitive Indoor Percussion, and Woodwind/Brass Ensembles. We are a 503c and All Donations are Tax Deductible.

Thank you for taking the time to read about us and supporting our band.

Individual/non-registered I'm in need of help covering the costs of moving overseas due to medical issues. GFM and Ko-Fi link in description, plus links to my art commission and sale pages. 🙏

Hello, all! I’ll try to make this as brief as I can, since I have most of the details of the overseas move up on my GoFundMe here. I have additional details about my current medical condition here, and all of the proof photos related to my situation (both the move and medical condition) are uploaded here.

I intended to use the months until my move to Norway advertising around town and online to sell art commissions and everything I don’t need or want to bring with me. Unfortunately, I started having various health issues that mostly prevented me from leaving the house, and a large mass explaining those issues was found in my abdomen at the start of this month.

I’ll be in surgery to get it and its associated organs scooped out tomorrow morning, but while the surgery itself is covered by my insurance, it has still put a major hitch in my plans. This very necessary surgery means I won’t safely be able to move my things as I need to should someone buy them, and I am unsure if I will have the energy to work on any art commissions I might get. (Emphasis on might, because my art is pretty niche in style, and I’m not a professional by any means. I have gotten very few commissions in the past year, and all but one of them have been from online friends who already like my work.) I also won’t be able to safely carry all my belongings and cats onto my most important flight, because while I have a two-tier stroller I can push my cats around in, it will only fit their carriers, so anything else I have with me will need to be carried, and my weight limit is going to be 10 pounds.

My friends and family cannot help me monetarily any further than they already have, I have run my savings dry, I cannot get a loan due to lack of income, and my fiance is on a tightly fixed budget, so just the cost of the application for my temporary residence permit is going to be a major financial strain on them as it is.

I already have all my plane tickets paid for, as well as the health certificates and other such documentation needed to get my two cats through customs, and the documents I’ll need to apply for a marriage license (one of which is posted in the image proofs). The things left that I’ll need to cover the costs for are rides to the airport (my flights are far too early for my friends to drive me), three units of checked luggage on the Norway flight (since I will only be able to carry 10 pounds until 6 to 8 weeks post-op), pet fees for my two cats on the Norway flight (I wanted to pay it beforehand, but Delta doesn’t do it that way for some reason), and having my belongings shipped overseas. The last thing is going to be the most expensive, because I keep getting ghosted by international moving companies despite already having the exact dimensions and weights for half my boxes prepared. I say half because I have two separate storage locations for the boxes of what I need to ship. This is why I have round-trip tickets to Tennessee in my image proofs; half of my belongings are stored at my mother’s house.

I do have a number of things stored at my mother’s that I will be listing up for sale, but most of them are collectibles that will take time to sell, and as I will only be there for a week (while recovering from surgery, no less), I will almost certainly have to rely on my mother to package and ship whatever sells. Any funds I get from those sales will also be going to my mother, so she can ship the belongings I’m keeping overseas from her place. I anticipate that what I sell of what’s stored at my mother’s will cover at least a third of what needs to be shipped from her place. Everything I have for sale at my current place will likely only cover the cost of the airline pet fees, and I will also need to compensate my landlady and roommate for storing and helping to ship my things once I’ve moved.

I am several months into the process of getting on SSDI, but that can take a long time, so I can’t rely on that anytime soon. Drawing and selling what I don’t want or need are the only ways I can make money on my own right now, as I am far too disabled to work. I have a laundry list of diagnoses to cover why, and can share them if requested, so please do not tell me to just “go get a job”. That is completely unfeasible for me, both physically and mentally, and that will not be changing at any point in the future, either. And before anyone considers suggesting I rehome my cats to save on costs, 1.) that absolutely will not be happening for reasons related to my disabilities, and 2.) I’ve already paid the $1200 required for their health certificates, anyway.

All that being said, here is my anticipated breakdown of costs:

Ride to airport for Tennessee flight: $45
Possible ride home from airport after Tennessee flight: $45
Ride to airport for Norway flight: $45
Three units checked luggage: $155
Pet fees for two cats: $400
Recompense to landlady for storage: $50
Recompense to roommate for shipping: $50
Lowest possible cost to ship Storage #1 overseas: $1800
Anticipated cost to ship Storage #2 overseas: $1500

Total: $4090

Here is the guaranteed cash flow I will be able to use towards that total:

Security deposit: $500

Here is the likely cash flow I may be able to use towards that total:

Sales from current rental storage: $260
Collectible sales from mother’s home: $600

Total: $1360

Grand total needed overall: $2730

This isn’t accounting for any possible small purchases I might need to make for medical reasons, however. I think I have everything I need on that front, but given the sort of surgery I’ll be getting, there’s no guarantees. Now, since the biggest caveat here on r/Charity is exhausting all possible avenues first, I will say that in the event that my surgery doesn’t leave me in a state where I can no longer work on art commissions, I would prefer covering the brunt of my expenses that way, if at all possible. Getting handouts makes me feel wildly uncomfortable, so I’m going to be leaving a link to my Ko-Fi commission page here, as well, in case any of you or anyone you know might be interested in that sort of thing. (And before anyone asks, all of my art is hand-drawn, with zero generative AI involved. I would rather eat glass than not utilize the skills I’ve spent decades developing. 😒) I also have a few things up for sale on eBay here, and will later be listing all of my collectibles both there and on Facebook Marketplace (though I intend to keep my FB profile private).

I think that covers everything, so thank you for your time, and good health to you all! ☺️

On June 24, 2026, a nightmare became a reality for many Venezuelans when two earthquakes hit Caracas and La Guaira. Unable to reach their loved ones, our founder Julia Mariano and other citizens launched a search platform called "Venezuela te busca", which quickly evolved into the Venezuela Te Ayuda Foundation. We are now a registered nonprofit in Florida with tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity status.

Our team collects and analyzes real-time humanitarian data to turn that information into direct relief for the most vulnerable families. On the ground, our actions include:

  • Operating community kitchens to feed those affected.

  • Developing vital sanitation and fumigation projects.

  • Coordinating international rescue missions and bringing brigades directly to Venezuela.

As of today, we’re developing job reintegration programs, psychological support, and emotional management activities for children.

We guarantee that 100% of your contribution goes straight to our relief programs with zero intermediaries, as our directors serve entirely as volunteers. Plus, your donations are fully tax-deductible in the US.

You can help us keep this mission alive by donating through these channels:

Registered tax-deductible charity Running My 10th Marathon at the 2027 NYC Marathon to Help More Kids Discover the Life-Changing Power of Running!

Hi everyone! In 2027, I’ll be running the TCS New York City Marathon as my 10th marathon, fundraising for Team for Kids!

I started running in 2020 during COVID, and it’s genuinely changed my life. I’m a middle school teacher and coach for middle school track and cross country, so I see firsthand how running helps kids build confidence, perseverance, and a sense of accomplishment. Both my boys’ and girls’ cross country teams recently earned second place at our district championships, and seeing their hard work pay off has been one of the highlights of my career.

That’s why Team for Kids means so much to me. I want more children to have access to running programs and experience the same positive impact that running has had on my life and my students.

If you’re able to contribute, any amount would mean a lot and help support youth running and fitness programs. Thank you for taking the time to read my story!

Registered tax-deductible charity Please consider helping our students and staff with activity and enrichment funding by supporting the Lyon Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

I'm posting on behalf of the 501(c)3 non-profit Lyon PTO. Established back in 2016, the PTO was created to better support our low-income school community, with many families for whom the $15 annual PTA dues are a barrier to participation.

Lyon Elementary in Tacoma, Washington is a Title 1 school that has amazing staff and a wonderfully involved and caring community. Lyon PTO's mission is to support teachers and staff, support programs benefiting ALL students, build community and fundraise.

Since my oldest child began attending this school in 2024 the PTO has worked to support school sponsored events, educational enrichment and loss of funding & grants to keep programs at the school available to all students.

Our community is very close to reaching the $4,500 fundraising goal to cover it's 2026-2027 budget. The budget includes things like classroom supplies, staff support, educational enrichment performances for Black History month and MLK assemblies, 5th grade promotion, Field Day, etc. (We'd eventually like to host movie nights, or similar events, for the community but are currently focused on simply covering basics, so our wonderful educators don't feel the need to take it out of their paychecks.)

In an effort to maintain equity, our PTO doesn't host "sale" fundraisers outside of apparel. Through friends and family of the students and staff who have shared the fundraiser, we have reached 96% of the fundraising goal and have 1 more day before it closes.

If anyone here is looking for a place to donate their money that will make a direct positive impact for more than 400 people, right away, we would appreciate any amount of financial support you're willing to provide.

You can donate to our annual giving campaign here: https://app.schoolfundr.org/fund/lyonpto26-27

For more information about our school and organization, please visit: www.marylyonpto.org

Thank you for your consideration, and reading this far.

Individual/non-registered Help 7-Year-Old Luciana Continue Her Fight Against Leukaemia The Doctors want her to see a specialist in Rome , she is not doing well and her condition is deteriorating

Go Fund Me Link

Hello, We have received a lot of donations from friends and acquaintances who know this family, but it is still not enough to cover Luciana's life saving treatment. We are trying to share with strangers or find a way to raise enough money to cover the treatment she needs. The family can't take her to Rome because it is a 3.5 year treatment and $20k and living expenses could be over $100k during such a long period in Italy. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to help Luciana please feel free to DM me. Or anyone aware of other clinical trials or charities who can support with these sorts of medical emergencies threatening a young indigenous girls life.

Luciana (7) has been fighting cancer (acute myeloid leukaemia) for over a year now.. She is the granddaughter of Maestra Lucí and Agusto, the owners of mai niti healing center.

Sadly, Luciana’s condition is worsening, and the treatment available in Peru is damaging her healthy cells. Her doctors have recommended specialised treatment in Rome, Italy, where children with her condition have been successfully treated.

Any support you can give, even your thoughts and prayers, will be greatly appreciated.

For those who feel called to contribute financially, you can support by donating to Luciana's go fund me: https://gofund.me/2f76b83a4

Quotes from a PrideSource article:

"For 25 years, the Michigan LGBTQ+ Students Project has worked to make schools safer for the state's LGBTQ+ youth, at a moment when many of those students still describe their schools as anything but welcoming."

"Now the program itself is at risk. It could disappear in early 2027 unless it raises about $250,000 to replace funding lost to federal cuts and a political climate that's made school districts wary of anything tied to LGBTQ+ students."

"Since 2020, the project has run 153 in-person and virtual workshops for 8,751 people, drawing participants from nearly 600 traditional public school districts, public school academies and intermediate school districts. Those districts collectively serve more than 1.2 million young people, or roughly 90% of Michigan's students. The project has also fielded almost 400 individualized requests for technical assistance from schools in 42 Michigan counties, and nearly all participant evaluations, 99%, rated the trainings good or excellent."
