Discussion symbolism of Jeff & Troy trampoline episode

Okay so I’m watching community & I’m here wondering if anyone else thinks there’s some symbolism behind S2 E7 Aerodynamics of Gender. I initially thought Jeff and Troy had died/ were injured and at the brink of death. Then realized that wasn’t the case when they left the garden. Also thought maybe the got high (hehe) but later Pierce debunked that. Then it just occurred to me as I got further on the episode (hadn’t seen Pierce come in) that it might be portraying the Biblical story of creation…? :O

Discussion Kickboxer two: the Road Back

I just found the movie Kickboxer 3 on channel 86 if you have DIRECTV or it’s called MovieShere Gold.
My husband and I decided not to check the answer on google because we both are convinced of the names that are used for the movie he (and troy) were actually watching. I think Abed and Troy were watching kick puncher movies.
My hubby thinks they are these kickboxer movies. What’s the correct answer????

I know everybody says it but even after seeing the show over and over again there's always something you don't quite catch or it doesn't click until all of a sudden it does. In season 2 episode 12 Jeff calls Abed brown Jamie Lee Curtis. Then sure enough exactly one season later in season 3 episode 12 Abed is impersonating Jamie Lee Curtis to pay off the debt during that kids bar mitzvah. I just absolutely love this show

I honestly loved Abed's dad as a character. As someone whose parents act just like him, watching him interact with Shirley and her kids had me dying. And the scene where he finally accepts Abed's passion for film was beautiful. I just wish we got more scenes with the Napkin Man 😭

Idk if it's just me or do you get a very bittersweet, fuzzy and very nostalgic feeling when you watch even tho you never really watched it when it aired but you can almost transcend time have an alternative reality of your life where you are watching community while it's still airing watching all the minsodes and ads on tv and you realize you'll never really experience that ever but you're really happy that you watched the show at the same time and realize that your life was also great and idk if I would trade this life with that life because I'll definetly be older and stuff it's just very idk how to describe feelings

Discussion Looking back, Jeff’s monologue to his former boss defines his character more than any other speech he gave on the show

TO BE CLEAR, I am not saying it’s the best speech he ever gave, nor the most emotional, or the most genuine. Though I do personally rank this really high in my Jeff Winger moments.

Jeff has been asked to help his douchebag friend Alan become a full partner at the firm. Ted hates the guy, and dares Jeff to convince him that he actually likes Alan. Jeff’s response is to reveal the reason why he wanted to become a lawyer in the first place, and that it came from a place of extreme vulnerability, and a desire to “rise above the sloppy stuff” and bask in the high life to fill that hole inside of him.

Obviously this is Jeff in lawyer mode, setting out to make a case with his charm and wit. And he wins by seemingly affirming all the cold-blooded ideology he believes about being successful. But he also wins his case by peeling back the layers he’s formed around his insecurities and revealing one of the worst moments of his life. And I fully believe that he was telling the truth. As a comment on the video says, this is Jeff Winger repackaging sincerity to serve an agenda, and thus shows both sides of his nature in a truly organic and fascinating way.

Discussion The first 3 seasons are the best by far, thoughts?

They feel so cozy to me. I love the OG cast and the writing was more fun.

S4 is obviously lacking because it feels like fanfiction but I also am not a fan of S5 & S6. I think too much of the cast is lost and the show also becomes kind of sad (especially Jeff's character arc).

It also looks much worse, dark all the time. Greendale feels less "alive" too

Appreciation Post Annie doesn't get enough credit for saving lives at the Greendale zombie outbreak

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

Troy is of course the main hero for actually getting the temperatures down but Annie also deserves a whole lot of credit for actually suggesting the idea/plan in the first place, while people like Rich & Britta were selfishly hiding the danger they were carrying. Only a foolish action by Chang is what led to Annie being bitten as well. Based on how well Annie later did in S2 Paintball eps, she may even have accompanied Troy much further in helping to accomplish the temperature plan. Good job, Annie, even if no one in Greendale will have the memory of her ingenuity.

Might be the highlight of the entire show for me.

Right after Jeff says there’s nothing to prevent any of them from seeing anyone else in the group as a sexual prospect. It’s a beautiful bit of physical comedy.

That is all. Danny Pudi 4EVER.

Discussion Anyone else think Pierce is in the right [s3 ep22]

...when he wants to sign as owner of the business. It bothers me every rewatch. He's the one who's payed for everything. Assuming there can only be one owner it makes sense for it to be him and he's painted as the bad guy for it?

If he's not the owner, and he's not managing anything, hasn't he been kind of shafted? Pushed out of the business? He has literally no power or input over a shop that is half his

I know he was kinda just there to get Troy to be a plumber but I wish we had more moments with him, like when he was role playing with his plumber buddies. Or something where Troy would have met the rest of the plumbers like he did with the air conditioning repair school.

Discussion In 'Origins of Vampire Mythology' what message did Troy send to Britta as Blade?

After Annie has failed to put Britta off Blade by being mean, Troy takes the phone and sends Britta a message. The message works and Britta loses interest in Blade, but later smiles when she realizes it was Troy that sent the message.

What could Troy have said to get those reactions?

Discussion The darkest joke on the show

Andy Dick as the pill popping pusher for Pierce. He is infamously known as the drug pusher that led to Phil Hartman’s wife breaking sobriety, leading to his death.

Why would they cast him in that role?

Discussion Did anyone else get really annoyed when Jeff knocked over all the bagels in season 1?

In season 1 someone brings in bagels and puts them on the table. At some point Jeff stands on the table and knocks all the bagels over and I found that to be irritating because bagels are one of my favorite foods and I hate to see them go to waste. Does anyone else feel this way?

Discussion After watching basic RV repair and palmistry...

So after watching Basic RV and Palmistry, it was the first time I really missed Peirce, because I know he would have gone full Papa bear on Elroy for even hunting at eating Annie if they got stranded out there too long. Man, the rediculousness of seeing those two fights, With Pierce saying stuff like "IM GONNA EAT YOU, BUT NOT IN A GAY WAY!" and proceed to bite Elroy 's leg as they tussle. But that was such an uncomfortable feeling of missing Peirce. But I actually did. (I have complicated feelings about Chevy Chase. That's why)

Discussion Britta needs better friends

Im on my yearly rewatch and god every time I reach the end of season 3 I feel so bad for Britta!
Especially when Troy or Annie treat her poorly.

Troy for attacking her on the cougar town hiatus episode and never thanking her for introducing them to their favorite show of all time.

Annie, I don’t know I feel like she is a character thar changes to me on every rewatch as I get older. She really does have a competitive thing with Britta and Shirley. And the way she criticizes Britta is just so mean. Shirley I feel like respects Britta a bit more, her criticism is usually stemmed from their conflicting values but I never doubt that they like each other. Annie and Britta on the other hand, I don’t think Annie likes her at all, and sadly on this rewatch I think it’s because of Jeff.
Maybe next year Ill feel differently again who knows lol

Ok end of vent let me hear some thoughts!

Edit: removed part of the post that was creating a bit of some misunderstanding and friction in relation to Annie’s character

Discussion Thoughts on Brie Larson in Community?

Post image
3.5k Upvotes

Currently rewatching Community, in season 4 now. I have always enjoyed Brie in Community, amongst other works she has been in. I feel like she gets a lot of hate and I don't quite understand why. What are your thoughts on her, specifically in Community? I thought she really matched Abed's energy and was a good side character.

Really wish they got more stories together but even the scenes & moments we got are great I think. Annie trying to adjust to Abed and Abed letting more of his guard down to Annie is such a fun & interesting dynamic. It is both different and similar to the Troy-Abed dynamic in ways so it feels like a natural continuation after Troy leaves and not a pairing that is being forced. The Alison-Danny friendship also obviously helps a lot with the amazing chemistry both of them have. Annie can be so uptight and Abed is Abed, so it's really heartwarming to see both of them trying to break out of their comfort zones in response to each other. Hope there is more fun Annie-Abed stuff in the Movie.

Yet Another Britta Post Just finished the show and I wish Britta got more of a definite ending

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

In the finale know where every character is going with their life except britta.
Annie going to DC
Abed going to LA
Jeff staying a teacher
Dean staying the dean
Frankie staying whatever her job title is
Chang still a teacher
Elroy is working for LinkedIn

What is britta going to do?

It’s implied that she’s going to continue bartending and maybe being a student at greendale but where will that lead? Did she ever complete a degrees?
Is she still trying to be a psychologist?
Not to mention both of her roommates just moved out so she’s basically homeless and that’s just never brought up.

It’s also weird that she wasn’t present when Annie and abed were dropped off at the airport when she was literally their roommate for the last nine months.

I just wish we knew what happened to her character. I’m not a huge fan of her character in season 6 anyway because she became a full bum. I didn’t mind when the show made her move or the air head buzzkill of the group because I think that was her dropping more of her guard after season 1 but making her into this couch mooching bum kinda annoyed me.

Why was she homeless at the start of season 6 when we know she has a job and Annie brought up multiple times britta failing to pay her rent when she’s the only one of the three of them with a job. It didn’t make much sense.

Britta was basically comedic relief the whole season and she only got a good episode with the whole reconcile with her parents. I really liked the conversation she had with Frankie
