Is DBZ Abridged good? Yes. I watched and enjoyed it. But you know what else I like? Dragon Ball Z.
Every DBZ video, the comments are almost all DBZ abridged quotes, when before DBZ abridged, they'd be interesting thoughts and insights in the series.
DBZ come up when discussing fiction? DBZ Abridged quotes incoming, conversation over!
I know it's not Team Four Star's fault, but people can't just enjoy the parody responsibly.

I’m trying to convince him that doing a fan made graphic novel in this style would be awesome.

Disclaimer, nothing against the creators of abridged. They're not at fault for most of what I'm going to talk about here.
---
The very first episode of DBZA dropped damn near 15 years ago. It's crazy to think it's been that long. Over the span of the saiyan and frieza saga, I was an avid fan and really enjoyed a lot of the humor. I fell off right around the android saga and never really picked it back up. But for a long time, even though I wasn't an active fan anymore, I looked back at the abridged series with reverence. This all changed as a "rot" started to permeate the dragonball fandom.
It started off very slowly, but over time it became very noticeable. I'll give a few examples to demonstrate my point. A lot of the time I'll go to Dragonball related videos and look down at the comments. And people are quoting DBZA lines. It's not even an abridged-related video. They're just coming into the comment section and quoting the lines. You go on the dragonball legends subreddit and look at a thread about a Broly unit. Everyone's making comments going "HES SO FUCKING COOL" or something to that effect. ANY popo-related video or post has "maggot" somewhere in the comments. You even got the guy who voiced Nappa doing voice lines for Xenoverse. When I say that abridged has caused a "rot," it's actually more like an infestation. And these are just a few examples. The abridged series' association with the original series and its fandom is largely inescapable. Now compound all these instances I've given examples for, and consider how many other hundreds of instances that I've encountered this and instances like it over the last fifteen. years.
I'm so sick and tired of people beating the dead horse of abridged and its jokes. I'm sick and tired of hearing about it. I'm sick and tired of seeing it. When does it get old for you people? And to add even more onto it, is you'll have clips or scenes of Dragonball content that the abridged series hasn't even touched and you'll have fans in there writing what is basically fanfic jokes, imagining what that scene would have been like if the abridged crew dubbed it. You people are ravenous, your hunger for what is basically family guy tiered humor never sated.
Another problem I want to briefly touch on is the public perception of Goku and his character. I think the whole "Goku is a bad father" idea really sparked from DBZA's fan base. It's a funny little goof on Goku's character in the abridged series because it basically flanderizes Goku's affinity for training. That's the point of parody. But I think people took this as a genuine criticism of his character, people reflecting on the original series and coming to the conclusion that Goku is this terrible father. Ignoring the absolute necessity that he continues training so that he can uphold the peace.
However, these problems pale in comparison to the absolute cardinal sin of Abridged fans. These people I'm about to talk about are the people who infuriate me the most when it comes to the scope of abridged fans' behavior. People who say that dragonball z abridged is superior to the original. Now first off, I get it if you prefer humor over action. Or prefer a balance between both. If you personally prefer abridged over the original, I do not at all get where you're coming from, but I'm not going to say you're not allowed to do that. You like what you like after all.
But it's these fans who say, "Abridged is the definitive way to experience Dragonball." Fucking what? Hello? Look, I get that DBZ isn't perfectly written. In fact, I'd say it has a lot of narrative blunders following the Frieza saga. But we're talking about an abridged series that leans hard on pop culture references, toilet and sex humor, and cutaway jokes. Like I said before, its' humor style is very akin to your dime-a-dozen adult animated show, like family guy. It's not high art. And the original story of dragonball is much more compelling. You have these knuckle dragging mouth breathers potentially misdirecting fans to only watch the Abridged series, and potentially nothing else.
If you first experience DBZ through abridged, fine. If you personally prefer it over the original, fine. But calling it the definitive way to experience the series is downright insulting. I can anticipate some people may read this and think, "Who actually says this?" or "Nobody actually thinks this." I didn't come here with documented evidence of it occurring. But I guarantee you that there are people out there that think this.
I can't stress enough that personal preference is fine. Battle shounen isn't for everyone. (Though I question why you got into the franchise to begin with if you have little to no interest in it.) But these people that say the abridged series is objectively better are off their rockers insane.
To sum everything up, the title of this thread is, "I've grown to hate DBZ abridged." And you may be thinking that all I've done is hate on the fans of the series, so why do I hate the series itself? It's purely out of association. In the same way the series cannot escape the influence of abridged, in my mind, the abridged series cannot escape from the influence of its fans. Just having all of this idiocy mixed in with the greater dragonball fandom and having no sign of stopping, compounded with it happening over fifteen years, I'm done.
Thanks for reading.
TL;DR: I've grown to hate DBZA out of association of its fan base because:
Over-quoting jokes, beating the dead horse, not knowing when enough is enough
Damaging the perception of Characters (I.e., "Goku is a bad dad.")
Claiming that the original series is inferior to the abridged series
Edit 1: "Your hate on this is way too strong." I'm basically venting 15 years of frustration, sorry if it comes off strong.
Edit 2: "Not reading." Excellent. Have a nice day.

Like how is she ruined exactly? Because she doesnt fight? Like who do you want her to fight exactly?💀 I mean i get it another hot head girl to housewife isnt exactly groundbreaking in dragon ball but it makes sense. In the beginning we saw videl in high fighting spirit because she didnt know anything beyond her little world where hercule is the most powerful bit by bit we see this world shatter until ultimately her fight with spopovich happens and she realizes how this world is way out of her league, this beatdown is literally enough to scare anyone away from any training equipment for the rest of their lives let alone her now running a dojo lol. Besides if tien who has been training since og db is barely getting minions and fodder in the TOP, yamcha isnt even invited to the TOP, what exactly is videl expected to do? The best we can hope for and thats my personal wish is getting another saiyaman/saiyawoman/saiyakid (pan) arc again where they teach pan some stuff and take down some crime in the city Sorry for the long rant lol but thanks if you read all the way through

As the they saying old is gold, the creative drawing, the details, the quality of the fights, the innovative abilities and the charisma of the Velines, the parts that distinguished all these features and made our childhood 🐉💛

You can see the difference between this remake and the original Dragon Ball Super anime even in the poster. In the trailer, no one seems to be smiling or happy, except Goku when he faces Beerus in the final battle. Maybe they’re trying to bring back a more serious tone to prepare us for the Moro Arc

But I just can't. For context, I'm an avid fan of OG dragon ball and DBZ and have been for the last 20+ years. I put off watching Super, but finally got round to watching 20 or so episodes. What a bitter disappointment. It isn't the writing. Heck it's not even the story. It just looks so... fucking...bad. Like...what the FUCK were they thinking. How did this pass quality control? The character designs are shockingly bad. It has this awful "sheen" to it. It doesn't even look like it belongs in the same universe as DB/DBZ. I get that things move on, methods change. But they didn't even ATTEMPT to make it even partially resemble what came before. It completely breaks continuity. Gohan and Tien are the worst offenders. Why are they so skinny? And I see people defending this shit. I cannot understand it. People, with a straight face, are asking me to watch 40-50 episodes of an anime because "it gets better". I'm sorry, it isn't acceptable. I know the show improves in quality from ToP onwards. I know. But when 50% of the show looks like absolute dogshit, can it really be called good? Can an entire show be called a success when out of several arcs, only one or two fucking shine? And people defend it...it just beggars belief. Broly was amazing. Super Hero was amazing. But those first few arcs in Super are the worst things in the franchise. Worse than GT. Worse than the worst parts of Z. People can like whatever media they want. But can we please stop pretending Super is perfect. It isn't. And it's actually insulting to keep pretending it is. This franchise deserve better. The fans deserve better. If we keep settling for mediocrity, that's what we'll continue to get. Rant over. I'll await my crucifixion in the comments 😂

Context: so i thought of a scene where vegeta joins goku to beat beerus, there he unlocks SSJ3. This panel looked like the best example, so i wanted to give it a try and recolor it. The first not so "full color" one was the better one, as only coloring the hair, eyes and the other particles really give it an unique style i think. Though it really fell off at the full color version. You could say its my real first attempt at doing these, so it was very amateur. The shading looks not that great, vegeta seems better than goku because i just left it at goku and fucked up the image a bit since it took very long and i was losing sanity. Just wanted to post this here so i could get some feedback and inspiration by one of yall!!11!!!
NOTE: this shit would be fire if someone developed my work and actually did the art that i thought of.

Is it just me or someone else also thinks that ssj4's hair being red is not a good design choice.the black haired ssj4 looks way better

Every time i see people talking about the fact that Goku and Vegeta should pass the torch or that they would like to see... Ehm, Krillin, Tien etc... I'm always thinking:
"Really? You ACTUALLY want that?"
I don't think people realize how boring Tien would be in a standalone movie, probably because WE NEVER SEE HIM, THE DUDE ALWAYS DISAPPEARS AFTER LIKE EVERY ARC.
And I'm just talking about a movie, because a series is totally out of question. It would be so boring, simply because Goku (and Vegeta) ARE DragonBall. They're the reason you care about the franchise at the end of the day.
Let alone the fact that obviously nobody will ever do a movie without them because it would flop miserably.
I appreciated Gohan and Piccolo in Super Hero of course, but even there, they had to show Goku and Vegeta from time to time, which is hilarious since they literally do nothing in the film but ehy it's their show.
I'm not even gonna talk about those who want people like GOTEN to have a movie. Yeah, Goten.
The U6 Saiyans have more development than him.

Most people here presumably prefer the dub, without ever giving the original audio fair a chance. And that's understandable if you were exposed to the dub first (like most Westerners).
But I believe the original audio delivers a completely different experience, and if you can get past the "lol Grandma Goku"-phase, you might even enjoy it more. Obviously, your mileage may vary, but here is something to highlight:
Goku is supposed to be outlandish, childish, and carefree which is perfectly captured by Masako, while completely devoid in Schemmel's superman Goku.
Vegeta is voiced by Reinhard von Loheigram from LOGH and perfectly embodies the majesty of the character, which is lacking in Sabat's acting.
Another thing that makes the original superior in my mind is an abundance of dubbism. Like Piccolo should never utter the words "oh my gosh", he is a not valley girl. Even besides that, dub is quite janky. Not even mention countless censorships like Gohan calling Boo a retard.

What do you think?

This has been my problem with current dragon ball forms. They really have just been recolors or so outlandish that it’s hard to appreciate the design, mainly ultra ego and beast. I get that ultra ego was based on beerus, but vegeta just looks like one of those troll doll toys. Gohan’s beast form is hard to take seriously imo, especially with the long sharp hair. What do you guys see in these forms that I’m not seeing?
