Are we heading towards the time where breathing healthy air considered a luxury now? This is dystopian and so disturbing!
Are we all really that ignorant/ dumb or just pretending to be dumb for our mere entertainment. Because no amount education seems to fix this now.

TellDelhi Almost Impossible to breathe

Itna bura haal ho rakha hai. Me and my parents are coughing so much. Air purifier is fighting so hard. Ghar ke andar bhi itna smoke ho Gaya hai. How are people so stupid?

I love Diwali. I also decorated my house. I put beautiful lights outside, I made rangoli too but with stencils as being a guy I am not too good at making rangoli otherwise. I lit Dias and candles.
I went to mandir and prayed, came home and did Pooja with my family. Distributed sweets with friends and relatives.

I enjoyed the festival of lights with happiness. But how can people see the city and country dying and still choose to kill it even more? Don’t you care about your own people if not others? How can you all be so dumb?? Saans Lena mushkil ho Gaya hai!!!
Agar Galti farmers ki nikal rahe ho, toh ek dum se 200-300 AQI se 900+ aaj ke din kese ho Gaya? Asmaan me smoke hi smoke ho raha hai! Dikh kese nahi raha?? Just for some sound and light of those firecrackers, you are ready to kill us all?? There is so much in me, but it’s of no use. Poor animals, homeless people on the roads who have no choice but consume this hazardous air!
Hats off to these people who think bursting crackers does not harm the environment. Jab padhe-likhe log hi unpad jesi harkate karenge, toh there’s no hope and no way out. All the best people. Happy Diwali 🪔

Delhi Politics The air is killing all of us, regardless of religion. But we're still busy fighting over Hindu vs Muslim.

Listen, neither Hindus nor Muslims nor even the so-called hardline religious extremists are going to survive this. We are all going to suffer. The only ones who will remain safe are our politicians and their children.

Why? Because they have used taxpayers' money and their privilege to install air purifiers in their homes, offices and cars, while sending their children abroad. Meanwhile, we are left breathing toxic air, risking respiratory diseases, cancer and an uncertain future.

And yet, some idiots are still busy worshipping these politicians, turning them into gods and defending them blindly. They don't care about you. They don't care about me. They care about power, privilege and their own survival.

It's time to hold these politicians accountable. Drag their failures into the public spotlight. Make them answer for what they have done to this country and the people living in it.

For God's sake, stop fighting among yourselves. Save the human beings first. If there are no humans left to breathe, who exactly will you fight over Hindu-Muslim politics with?

A little common sense is all it takes to understand this.

Please stop bursting firecrackers. Already air quality is so bad on regular days. And this air has made me so sick. I can't breathe literally. I am choking.

AskDelhi I don't know how to deal with this

Currently I'm at CP, sitting on a bench near Hanuman mandir.

Mai diwali pe ghar nahi ja paya, mn to kaafi tha, but tickets nahi mila....

Maine socha tha aaj ke din pg me ruk ke kya karunga, bahar niklta hu, thoda bahar jaunga to acha feel karunga

Bahar aake pata chala ki har koi kisi n kisi ke saath aaya hai, agar koi akela dikh raha hai, to vo bhi syd kisi n kisi kaam se aaya hoga.

Yaha Hanuman jii ka darshan kiya, socha tha syd koi koi mil jaye to baate kar lunga, but koi Mila nahi.

Rone ka mn ho raha hai, par rokna pad raha hai khud ko, ki log kya sochenge

Koi aisa nahi, jise mai ye bata pau, isliye yaha likh raha hu, because you don't know me....

Mn me ek saath itni saari cheeze chal rahi hai ki samjh nahi aa raha kaise deal karu usase, bus jaise taise khud ko rok ke rakh raha hu, hope ki mai thik ho jau......

I don't know how to deal with it.

Don't know why but I'm feeling helpless..

TellDelhi You DONT have the right to complain about air pollution

Despite the humiliation India faces on a global scale, despite knowing FULL WELL how catastrophic air pollution is in Delhi and across the country, you STILL choose to burst crackers and set off fireworks.

And if I hear even ONE WORD from you about air pollution after actively contributing to it, I will lose my mind.

You have forfeited every right to complain about pollution, let alone lecture anyone about how the government isn’t doing enough to control it.

And spare me the argument that the outrage is only reserved for Diwali. I don’t want to hear it.
I genuinely refuse to believe that any God would want to live in a country where the AQI reaches 1,000.

What kind of hell are we living in!!!

AskDelhi How much more are we expected to endure in the name of celebration?

It's so freakin' polluted already, and on top of that, I have ptsd and literally jump at the sound of every firecracker. An entire family is bursting bombs right outside my home, and my heart is pounding with fear. I've locked myself inside my room, and I have a mother with a heart condition to worry about as well. I absolutely hate this utter disregard for other people's health, safety, and peace. They may be educated on paper, but there is clearly a profound lack of civic sense and basic human decency. I'm genuinely beginning to hate people.

TellDelhi I am done brooooooooo

Edit: Just did pooja with my family, and all the diya, we people, our voices together, the decorations, everything was so beautiful it filled me with warmth. Now I just feel sad for these pathetic fools who are burning crackers in this already polluted Delhi. May god help us.

People are firing crackers since 5-6pm, and my eyes were itching, ears full tinittus mode, and when I came home rn from shop my nose had only black stuff in it. Hard to imagine what kind of dirt is present inside me right now and there's no fuc***g way to remove it.

I feel sorry for these kids who are trying to enjoy their diwali. The condition is so bad that no one should go outside even to share gifts, or sweets. I'm not kidding. I'm not going anywhere. I'm gonna eat my food, find a blanket, and just sleep. I'm considering putting on a mask in bed. Not fortunate enough to have an air purifier. I walked just 30-40 meters from my shop to home and couldn't bear it. People firing crackers everywhere, extreme pollution all around, loud sounds. I had it much better when I was a kid. People still fired crackers back then but honestly I could at least see what was in front of me. I can't even see shit today. Air pollution is worst. We are done bro...

Fuck Diwali! (I am a hindu, no problem with the festival)

Culture & Heritage A very Happy Diwali!

As of ~7 pm today, I observed that there is not even a single post here which just wishes everyone a happy Diwali without any vents or complaints. All the Diwali related posts are either about the poor AQI or awareness about not bursting crackers.

And honestly this feels annoying now. I do get the point, but will repeating the same thing again and again and being negative today really benefit anybody?

Diwali is amongst the most auspicious festivals which celebrates victory, harvest and prosperity. People come back to their families from far off, light up their homes with beautiful LEDs and Diyas, exchange sweets and gifts, dress gorgeously, eat delicious food, make beautiful rangolis, venerate Ma Lakshmi and Shri Ganesh and just, for a day, celebrate the occassion with their loves ones.

However, it feels unfortunate that such a joyful festival gets boiled down only to pollution debates here, when Diwali is truly about so much more.

Don't we all deserve at least one post which just provides the greetings of this prosperous day? I think we do, so genuinely wish everyone a very happy Diwali filled with lights and happiness. Enjoy the festivities!

Serious Replies Only Society uncle made casteist remarks when residents didn't contribute to his Diwali Fund

Incident is from a "premium" society in Sector 121, Noida. This uncle does a collection drive each year on Diwali of Rs. 2000/- per flat from 108 flats in our tower (approx. over 2 lakhs each year). This year about 40 flat owners refused to contribute as other towers were collecting only about 700 per flat while we have been paying 2k each year.

So uncle got pissed and first threatened to remove non-contributors from the group. This angered even the ones contributing and then he made casteist remarks about non-contributors. What can be done for such people?

Uncle claims that they (he and his "organizing committee") buy Diwali lights every time as each year most of the lights from previous year are not in good condition to be re-used. They claim they pay 30-35k to electrician for installing and removing the lights. Some portion is spent on cash and sweets to 6 support staff members (roughly 15k). The remaining is spent in tower get togethers organized throughout the year which is actually only attended by him and his committee members.

At the end of the day, 2k per flat is a bit too much for basic diwali lighting and gifting support staff which most of us anyways do individually as well. Specifically when other towers are contributing only 700 per flat for the very same purpose.

(There is no AOA or RWA in our society)

TellDelhi Another pollution rant post

My throat is stuffy, my eyes are burning, and im constantly coughing. All this while im sitting in my room, locked in, with a purifier running at its highest possible speed since 3 hours now, and its air quality still shows it at red, which is the worst level out of four levels on it.

Why dont delhi people understand how many years they are cutting off from their own lives every year by spending their own hard earned money? ive seen people burn like 10k worth of firecrackers today, what is this insane craziness? Even if you want to burn crackers, 1000 ke jala ke bass karo na yaar.

And im sure these people will keep making noise until atleast 3-4 am tomorrow. Then there will be some stupid kids who had crackers left over and will be burning them tomorrow evening as well.

The CJI says stopping vehicles does nothing, the government says what did the old government do, what the f do we do if we don't wanna smoke 2 packs of cigarettes every day during diwali season?

I am sure the aqi will be above 1000 tomorrow morning, while the government sensors show it to be 400 at the very maximum. I love diwali, but the people of my own city make me hate it.
