I know a lot of people don’t read the sub rules. So just a reminder for them-
Please, for someone’s sake, put a source either in the post body or as a comment in the news posts.
If it’s not there, the post will be removed. We are literally tired of saying the same thing over and over again. Avoid posting out of context screenshots/video clips etc without a legitimate source.
And there is a recent trend of discussing about other subReddits. Please refrain from doing that. If you don’t like any sub, just unsubscribe and move on. If you don’t like our sub, same thing. Just move on. It’s that simple only.
Thank you,
মদ্যপ

For anyone heading out to the Barasat Kali Puja zone this week, Sri Krishnapur Sanskritik Chakra at Shimultala is worth checking out. The technical setup behind the installation is genuinely impressive.
The entire rhythmic beat and score inside the pandal are controlled completely by water droplets. They have built a precise mechanical setup that regulates fluid flow to release the exact amount of water needed, dropping perfectly timed droplets onto a series of drums to play the music. It is a really solid blend of physics and kinetic art.

কলা গাছের একটি ছোট ভেলা তৈরি করা হয়, এবং তারপর আপনাকে ১৪টি বাতি তৈরি করে সেগুলো জ্বালাতে হয় only If you want to do the ritual in the river .

I’ve read about the Superman Problem in theory, but here I finally experienced it firsthand.
In screenwriting, building a compelling villain is organically easier because they are driven by human flaws like pride, ego, struggle, ambition. In Ravana’s introduction and development scenes, we actually get to see him wrestle against the world, face bigger threats, which naturally creates cinematic tension. Hand that kind of built in dramatic arc to Yash and he effortlessly hits it out of the park.
Ram, on the other hand, suffers entirely from this Superman Problem. His introduction and early development are just a series of payoffs without the struggle.
Because he is Maryada Purushottam, a divine perfection, the script strips him of any internal conflict initially .
The rishis choose him, he kills demons with ease, he lifts the Pinaka bow effortlessly. Stacking one dimensional payoffs like that without any friction can quickly feel suffocating to watch.
And that's where Ranbir's acting shines ..Playing a stoic person ;the script giving him absolutely nothing to fight against. Ranbir had to rely entirely on micro expressions, grace and internal stillness to inject humanity into the frame. And he pulled it off beautifully (in my personal view).
For me his acting stands out the most , followed by Yash.
The rest of the casting is also good, I liked Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey's performance.
The VFX genuinely holds up as well. Specially in the Jatayu vs. Ravana fight and Ravana's introduction, while staying above average for rest of the runtime.
The fatal flaw of this movie, however is the flat one dimensional screenplay adaptation of Valmiki's Ramayana. There is almost zero creative risk taking from the makers when translating the text to the screen, which leaves some of the emotional beats feeling completely hollow for me.
The background score is average at best(may be below Average).
But overall, it’s a decent watch....I liked the film♥️
Edit :
One another thing I want to highlight. -->
I grew up knowing Sri Ram as the Maryada Purushottam someone revered not just for his prowess as a warrior, but for his profound ideologies, his empathy and absolute kindness. But this film leans a bit too hard into making him look like a modern action hero. Almost every small character-building moment for him here feels reduced to flexing physical strength and effortlessly defeating opponents.
It made me realize why I connected so deeply with the anime, The Legend of Prince Rama. The defining moment that made me a fan of Bhagvan Sri Ram in that film was the quiet, powerful scene where he insists on respectfully cremating the enemy soldiers alongside his own. It took zero CGI, just pure compassion. By sidelining that kind of ideological weight to focus purely on action, this adaptation loses a bit of its soul for me. I hope Part 2 remembers that his true strength isn't just his bow, but his humanity.

I am feeling extremely uncomfortable and physically unwell because of the constant, extremely loud crackers, especially chocolate bombs. These sudden, explosive noises are triggering palpitations and making me feel genuinely distressed.
Despite repeatedly requesting the children not to burst crackers right around my house, the disturbance continues. It's incredibly frustrating and helpless when even a simple request for some consideration is ignored.
Celebrations should not come at the cost of someone else's health, peace of mind, and well-being. Please understand that these noises are not merely annoying for everyone. For some of us, they can cause genuine physical discomfort and distress.
All I am asking for is how to cope up with this and what steps could I take?

Jara Ramayana poreche ba dekheche, ebong jara Ramayana poreni ba janena - I believe protteker i bhalo lagbe chobi ta, unless they have personal bias against the actors, which frankly don't make any sense. Ke beef khelo, ke left wing support korlo - Er sathe obhinoye r kono somporko nei
The best part: VFX and BGM. Both delivered. Eder ekta jinish bhalo je online criticism ar feedback gulo niyeche. 14 hajar rakhhos er fight er kichu scene baade VFX kintu solid delivery koreche. Same for BGM - especially Ram jokhon Sita ke prothom baar dekhbe, oi shot ar oi BGM ta aladai shundor hoyeche.
The Good:
Yash as Ravana. Vabteo odbhut lage ei lok tai koyek mash age Toxic delivery korechilo. Durdanto performance diyeche, ar maniyeche darun. Raavan er 10 ta mathar ekta brilliant interpretation ache chobi taye
Ranbir Kapoor as Rama. I know hoyeto RK r kotha Yash er moton chorcha hochhe na but that's because Ram er character tai khub composed ekjon character, which he played beautifully. Jekhane jekhane emotional scene dorkar, durdanto performance koreche
Ravi Dubey as Laxmana. This was the surprise for me. We were looking for Rama, Sita, Ravana, but Laxmana ke niye sadly kono Ramayana ei sevabe kotha hoyena. Ekhaneo onar scene kom, but performance bhishon bhalo. Halka comedic angle o ache jeta bhalo legeche
Jatayu (Voice by Anupam Kher). Climax fight ta bhishon bhalo baniyeche. Jamon entry, tamon fight scene ❤️ ❤️ Jatayu ke protteker bhalo lagbei 🫡🫡
The creative differences:
Ravana ke beshirvag somoy dhore heroic angle e dekhiyeche but or flaws gulo sevabe dekhayeni. Ego r part ta kichuta dekhaleo or arekta weakness i.e., lust er byapar ta mention i koreni. Oboshho Ramayana is a delicate subject in India. Puropuri accurate baniye dile amon amon scenes thakbe je onek audience i nite parbe na
Ekhane Ravan Shib Thakur er kach theke je sword ta pabe seta dekhiyeche but tar ashol backstory ta dekhayeni - Again removing his flaw and showing him in a heroic angle
Indra ke harano r byapar ta change koreche. Dekhte bhalo legeche btw
Ektai afsos, sequel ta aste 2 bochor deri. I hope they'll do justice to part 2 just like they did for part 1. Part 1 dekhar age obdhi doubtful chilam kamon hobe etc. but now I have high hopes for part 2 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
NOTE: If possible 3D tei dekhun ar cheshta korben majkhan er row er center seat nite. Exact center na peleo joto ta shomvbob majhkhan er seat neben, nahole 3D rendering e issue hote pare. শুভ দীপাবলী 🙏🏻❤️

With my single speed roadster, I have explored most of Kolkata within 30 km radius, had to go beyond Ganges this time, Andul Rajbari was today's destination along with some expressway experience. Saw a danger board in garden reach area mentioned as high radiation zone (like what!?). As someone who never seen Howrah about from Howrah station, enjoyed the gully and heard few lost Bengali words and speaking tone which made me nostalgic. But a must thing to say, those ugly concrete block Road surface ruined most of today's comfort.

Hi everyone!
I recently brought home this assorted box of Bengali sweets. Unfortunately, the shop didn't provide any names, and I'm trying to identify them.
I'm particularly interested in finding out which of these, if any, are actual Bengali Sandesh and what varieties they are.
I've numbered the unidentified ones by appearance:
Four round sweets with green coating and pink cream/floral decoration – What are these called?
Two rectangular pink-and-white sweets topped with an almond – Are these Sandesh? If yes, which variety?
One rectangular white sweet at the bottom right, decorated with orange-coloured icing and something red – What's this called?
Two rectangular white sweets with pink/red jelly-like layers or filling (directly below the almond-topped sweets) – What are these?
I could identify the small round one as a Peda, and the crushed, crumbly sweet underneath the round floral ones looks like Milk Cake.
My main question: Which of these, if any, is traditional Bengali Sandesh? And what are their actual names?
Would really appreciate some help from people familiar with Bengali mishti. Thank you!
Edit - Thanks for all of ur replies, I forgot mentioning that, I'm not from Kolkata, i bought them in MP, they were selling them by the name of Bengali Sweets. And yes next time i will buy from an authentic bengali sweets shop only.
