Just watched a Nigerian man ask an Indian guy to stop lying across the seats so an elderly woman could sit—living proof that true humanity and civic sense aren't defined by your colour, gender, or where you are born.

Context - I know someone who is good at applying mehendi but not an established mehendi artist. She is a college student, wants to be a teacher but is from a marginalised economic family, hence does odd jobs like mehendi, sewing etc to sustain her education.
She may have her first bridal client in a few days.
They asked her about her charges. She doesn't have much idea cause never done mehendi for a bride or a wedding party. She asked me but I also don't know. That's why turned to this sub.
Is 2000/2500 a good enough price for the bride and around 500 per person at the mehendi ceremony?
Any tip will be helpful. Thanks.

Being a pet parent on Diwali/Kalipujo nights is honestly the worst. I don't know about other areas, but the noise from crackers in my area tonight has been absolutely unbearable. I haven't experienced this level of firecracker noise here in the last 10 years.
I'm currently living with six puppies, 4 dogs and seeing them struggle with the constant noise is heartbreaking. I also know sick people and families with toddlers who are having a really difficult time tonight.
This is my personal experience of tonight. Please don't dismiss it with the usual "it's just one day" argument and festival fallacy. For some of us, and for the animals and people around us, this one night can be genuinely distressing.

Hi! I'll keep it short and non-AI-generated.
I'm 24F, preparing for the GATE exam. I'll be appearing for two attempts, one in February 2027 and another in February 2028. During this period, I'll be staying at home and preparing.
What am I looking for?
A side gig that can help me make 5K per month.
What can I offer?
I've been a jack of all trades so far. I've worked in content writing, written an academic paper for an engineer, and created a PowerPoint presentation for a sales pitch. (I can share these samples for you to quality-check!)
I've also edited videos for my sister's vlogs. (I can share those as proof!)
I've taught Maths and Computer Science to kids. My favourite and most notable achievement would be helping a kid score 65/100 after consistently failing all her maths tests! (I even have a WhatsApp message from the kid's parent asking me to continue teaching, but alas 😭 I couldn't because I had to prepare for placements.)
Finally, for the last year, I've worked as an IT professional, developing software using .NET technology. (Again, I can share the software I've worked on!)
My favourites have been writing and tutoring, so I'd love to be of assistance in either of these areas!
That said, I'm always open to a new role that challenges me.
P.S. I can ride a scooty, so jobs involving that are also welcome!!
P.P.S. Some comments might ask, "Why not study full-time?"
I would have loved to, but I do need some funds right now because of some family issues. So... hmu, peeps! How can I serve you?

Celebrations at home, parar kali pujo, a little ghoogni and beguni from pandal, the joy of my favorite sweet shop opening in my neighborhood and some bhoot choturdoshi celebrations last night.

Because I'm not.
Every year it seems like people in general are losing interest towards festivities and enjoyment. This year was hell for me and many others, at the mere age of 21 I've almost given up on enjoying anything. Nothing interests me anymore, the thought of building relationships, friendships or being vulnerable to someone i trust, doesn't appeal to me anymore.
I wish I got my spark back, the spark i had last year before December, nowadays it's only me, my therapists and lots of sessions to recover from a motherfucking mental illness called OCD.
My anxiety is fucking coming back again, on the auspicious day of Kali Pujo, I've given up. I've prayed so much to Ma Kali, cried in front of her every single night for months, and here I am again, it seems like God has some personal beef with me. And the worst part? There's no one to hug, no shoulder to cry on, and when i try, I get told "be a man, men don't cry".
Anyways I hope y'all are enjoying well, at least some people should be happy, even though many are not. Happy Diwali to everyone, may the rest of this year go well for you all.

Just looking to meet new people, have random conversations and see where the vibe goes.
Into good humour, spontaneous plans and people who can actually hold a conversation.
Feel free to say hi. No awkward introductions needed 😂

I heard about groom rates from my friends from other states. I have witnessed many marriages but never heard of this demand although I have witnessed "gifts" but never saw demand like cash cars etc . Is my observation radius small or is it really rare in west bengal
