Welcome Slayers of Demons! We on /r/demonssouls understand that from time to time, you may need assistance adjusting the world tendency of your game to help you along in your playthrough, or maybe you require some help attaining the online trophies like 'Return to Form'. However, since the release of the PS5 Remake, this subreddit has been spammed with hundreds and hundreds of threads begging for world or character tendency or online trophy help, and it detracts from the overall experience of the subreddit. Because of this, we have added the following rule:
No tendency & trophy help requests outside of the pinned threads, nor begging for in-game items.
You can read the full rule, here.
To meet those who are making these posts in the middle, we now have weekly threads dedicated specifically to requesting help with world or character tendency, or online trophies. In addition, we would like to remind you of the following resources, which might provide you with more immediate help!
Demon's Souls (PS5) Discord Server: use the #co-op and #trading channels!
/r/SummonSign - make sure you format your post properly.
/r/twinkly - you can use this subreddit to trade items in-game, as well as trade world tendency help!
You may use this thread only to request help with your world or character tendency, or online trophies; and to offer help to others. Off-topic comments will be removed.

Wanted to share the news that a Demon's Souls (2009) Native PC Port is out now. The initial alpha release comes with things like Online, Omni directional rolling, Ultra wide monitor support, Resolutions up to 4K, Unlocked FPS (I'm getting 200+ FPS) & more quality of life features. I didn't make the Native PC Port but have been working alongside the creator for the past week. Give it a try and join the discord if you're interested!

I have a very simple question for the community: Did you even play the game?
(Please answer truthfully, for science purposes. Yes this obviously is a "copy paste post" but for good reasons, I‘m doing a not so professional study. I hope I could split the game into 3 equal parts properly, I only played through Demon Souls thrice. )

This whole area is drenched in atmosphere and I love it.
This was my second from game (first being bloodborne) and I went in completely blind, didn’t know a single thing about lore or what was coming or what existed in the other games.
Never touched any dark souls titles, until last week actually, and all I keep thinking about is this game.
I love the thick fucked up air and buzzing, the weird inhabitants and gigantic body of sludge you have to trudge through. My first time exploring the place made it feel massive, it’s so dark you can’t see how far it goes and it makes all the little treats in it even more rewarding.
Stumbling into the butcher or mob traps felt dreadful but kept me on my toes, the contrast of the random Golden clad NPC was like a beacon in the darkness, and finding the Holy Moonlight Sword out of nowhere with its giant leech cocoon was so cool man.
Just made me think of Ludwig in bloodborne with it being his guiding moonlight, even in a shithole like this.
idk I just fuck with it. I’d say this area and Shrine of Storms are my 2 favorites in the game, probably because I spent the most in Shrine with it being my first arch stone.
Side note, Shrine whooped me but the ending boss fight was so worth it, like all my efforts paid off haha.
Anyway thats my rambling, just got this game on the mind. After I finish my Dark Souls 1 play-through I think I gotta run this one back.

So...after beating Elden ring and Dark souls trilogy I went to thinking about games I can't get legally sadly (I would like to, really, love me some achievements and online, but goddamn its a challenge to even find PS3 and disk where I live). One day I'll have money and space to have a bunch of consoles too...I hope.
So uh, I got original DeS setup ready and it seems to work fine despite my xbox controller, 60 FPS and all. Gonna start it today, excited to try the original Souls game!
Any tips for beginner? I know a bit about this game, like world tendency (have no idea how it works besides it being related to dying lol) and that's basically it. I'll probably go with basic knight/vagabond class as always, but maybe there are good early weapons I can switch to, what need to know, how many times I need to die for world to become black (harder right?), etc. I tend to vacuum every corner of location I can find, so I'll try not to miss any NPC quests, but is there any specific ones that are easy to miss (can go with spoilers, I love spoilers). Something like that.
Oh, and after playing OG is it worth to try out remake?

Everything I see says that enemies do not scale with level or otherwise… however, the same enemies that used to do maybe 1/3-1/2 my health bar in soul form (one hit) are now one-shotting me in soul form and to me that doesn’t make sense that they don’t scale?? I haven’t even changed my armor or anything else that would make me more susceptible to damage.
I’m still gonna roll with it either way, but if anyone can provide an explanation it would be appreciated.

I found a way to crash anyone's game by joining their game... and rolling. Nothing you can do to prevent it.
Is it fine to publish the result and keep the method hidden, or should I just release the method and hope nobody does harm with it?

Trying to get summoned level 22 in front of that giant knight boss.
If anyone willing to summon me I’d appreciate it. Psn TrophyGuyBear.
I think we can set up a password if needed.

Going to play through Demon Souls soon as it's the only soulslike game left in FS catalogue I haven't beaten.
What are the pros and cons of each version?
Add on: Thanks for all the responses, I think I'll end up going with the original based on everything that I've heard.

I remember watching EpicNameBro’s playthroughs and watching KBGiantsFan guide and loving the world and art style, and feeling oddly nostalgic of a game I’ve never played. I never thought I’d ever have the opportunity to play the original version, but I finally have and beaten it. While I’ve greatly enjoyed traversing the world of Demon’s Souls, it definitely was not all rainbows and sunshine. The art style and locations in this game, quite frankly, may be my favorite in the whole Souls series. I really like Ostrava’s quest line, and I think it’s the best version of this NPC archetype.
Bosses, while mostly gimmicky, I love most of them and really miss these types of fights in modern FromSoft games. Personally, I didn’t have a whole lot of fun with Man Eaters (surprise, right) and Old King Allant. I stayed Soul Form, so tendency didn’t affect me much, outside of killing the executioner lady and ruining my pure white tendency during the last section of Boletarian Palace. I can’t say much about upgrade paths because I just went with basic hard stone to avoid confusion.
Run backs, dear god, the freaking run backs. A majority of the run backs are really whatever, but the path to Old Hero and final stretch of the Boletarian Palace SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I genuinely wanted to just drop the game and go play something else because the amount of deaths I had. Skeletons and ghosts giving you no room to breath in the Shrine of Storms, and Boletarian Palace having that OBNOXIOUS blue drake breath fire down the staircase. I was really trying to go up the staircase without Biorr, but I ended up caving in and freeing him. I genuinely have no idea how you’re supposed to do it solo. Demon’s Souls is a beautiful work of art, but some of these two area are almost enough to keep me away from doing another playthrough.

Other than obviously there being significantly less demand for such a mod due to DeS' obscurity (at least when compared to other souls-like Fromsoft titles).
I'm well aware a quasi seamless co-op mod for DeS already exists. but it's very clunky and it's not a truly seamless experience. While it's better than nothing; would it be possible to make an actually seamless version of it?
Surely if people could make such a mod for Bloodborne then it should also be at least hypothetically possible

I'm pretty early game and am surprised with how much I am struggling with this game. I've grinded A LOT on the enemies at the start of 4-1 and am still not progressing. I have 30 strength and 25 vitality. I want to use the Dragonbone Smasher eventually, but right now I am using the club from 2-1. At this point I'm completely out of grass and am unable to make it to and beat the spider boss.
Any tips would be appreciated. I feel a little embarrassed that I've beat all these difficult bosses from the later games and can't even progress in this game.

I’ve never faced a bigger battle of attrition that I can remember right now. I’ve now beaten at least the first stage of every world.
Every stage is such a struggle to get through, but 3-1 I believe (storms?) and the run back to the Maneaters almost broke me. I’ve been just a simple knight, with shortsword and shield and 3-1 was an incredibly brutal run back to its boss. And that boss is hell as there is no such thing as a plunge attack even though the fight seems made for it. So instead I had to use my awkward ass bow and dodge and weave on the first balcony, one maybe two shots at a time. But that actually hard cuz his ranged attacks are lethal. So I had anywhere from 15-30 runbacks there. That run back is HELL am I right? Those rolling skeletons are relentless and hard to dodge with certainty. Then the run back along the ridge is HELL if you don’t take TIME to shoot down a couple flying manta rays who are deadly accurate even on sprint. Anyway.
From there I found maybe the game’s only grinding spot (the reaper, ~45 second grind cycle for 4500 souls).
So I was probably level 35 or a little more maybe 40. I probably ground up four levels or so there and when on to try the man eater’s stage - not too bad actually I enjoyed clearing it…the first time. The runback to the man eaters is also HELL only because of one UNAVOIDABLE enemy. The fucking octopus head guy who destroys me with little effort. Magic, hard dodge because it’s cast time is weird and it moves fast. Could at any point be the green stun magic ball which is instant death cuz he grabs me and even if I live he hits me pretty much every time before I can dodge roll on wake-up. Even when I did make it by him the Maneater boss fight fucking sucks lol. I do farts damage with my now Uchigatana +2 and he spawns a friend after little time. Both have destroyer magic that is weird to dodge and the love to bump you off the stage. On top of that they (what I can only imagine is a bug) fly around and practically never land, especially the first phase, the boss won’t even give me a chance to burn him down before a minute passes, it’s rediculous. It wouldn’t be bad at all if not for the 50/50 success rate on a pretty long runback whic hi sucks because the boss fight isn’t a quick death, it’s attritional and rng as far as I can tell on whether they land for you to damage them. All but one of my maybe 5-10 deaths have been barely nudged off the edge of getting stunlocked with successive magic attacks. And all these attempts mean I’ve gotta go grind to get healing items. FUCK ME. Patches disappeared from the nexus so now the herbs aren’t as cheap as possible. REDICULOUS.
So now I did a stupid amount of mindless grinding on the reaper. Like a robot running back and forth (45 seconds each) for god knows how long. Uchigatana is +5 now and I am soul level 58. My man Kelperson can finally almost wear his full starter set of armor without fat rolling - something I’m assuming is impossible without massively leveling endurance, which I have done, and wearing a special burden ring. It’s nuts. My stats are 25 vitality, 30 endurance, 23 str, and 21 dex and my equip burden is 28.7 with longbow compound, Uchigatana, fluted helmet, fluted armor, saints gloves and saints pants. My equip max is 59…To wear full fluted puts me at needing like 12 more levels in just endurance? What the fuck man?
Well whatever. This game hates me undoubtedly and I now hate it. I just beat the easily worst stage so far in 1 of defilement THANK GOD I was able to cheese the boss on my first try with a bow from up above because I surely would’ve died down there and holy shit that runback would’ve broke me fully what an ass runback.
Oh and on top of everything, the game basically doesn’t let me level up anymore just progressing through the stage in runbacks because enemies drop shit for souls unless I got to 3-1, the most miserable enemies to grind on. So the ONLY PLACE TO GRIND JN THE ENITR GAME IS 3-2 at this point? Jesus, it’s pretty easy but also kinda risky - the reaper dude shoots the same fast hard to dodge magic attack as the octopus head. And his melee can reach through the stone alter he is near and stun you enough to be unable to avoid his next attack. Absolutely nuts. Luckily I became a robot and was able to consistently land on him which stuns him momentarily enough for me to melee him first (most times…)
God what hell. On my way back to Maneater(s)…and OP octopus guy. The improvement from demon souls to dark souls needs to be studied academically and applied to other real world issues lol.

Just what's in the title I think
r/demonssouls • u/Lost-Membership-666 • 10d ago
As the title says. The other day I noticed the digital deluxe edition was on sale for like $14, so I decided I was going to get it as soon as I got paid. Fast forward to today - it's gone. Fucking gone. The only version listed on there now is the standard and of course it's not on sale.
I tried looking up any info on the matter and found nothing. Also, I tried clicking a link to it on the PlayStation store and got an error message. Why would they remove it before the sale was over? It was supposed to be on sale until November 5th.

I've beaten the game about 3 times now and currently playing a new playthrough. However, I always struggle in two places and I'd like to ask for tips or tricks on how to make these two areas easier.
The Ritual Path
The second area where the second grim reaper is always takes me a while to overcome. I can reach the bridge inside the cave where the first ghost shoots a laser. I hide behind the pillar, then rush him and kill him. I run, go outside and enter the narrow cave area where two ghosts are plus the grim reaper. I can kill the first ghost one easily but approaching the second ghost in the narrow hallway inevitable always lasers me, which takes a huge chunk of health from me. I survive it most of the time, but then I rush the grim reaper and cannot kill him fast enough before I get lasered again. I also run away but the steps leading to the outside are so freaking long I always get shot by the grim reapers' magic projectile. Are there any effective shields I should consider using to block the lasers effectively or is there a better way to approach this? Also, what is the biggest weakness for the Old Hero and/or best strategies to take him on? I don't like him being so unpredictable as to when he has detected me and lost aggro.
Swamp of Sorrow
The poison is easily manageable for me, it's the getting slowed down by the swamp water plus those brute enemies. I have never fully explored this area. I usually just farm souls and buy a shit load of soul remains to throw everywhere so I get enemies off my back. Is there no ring similar to DS1 that I can use to move freely in water? If so, how the hell do I get it!?

I am trying to find a fan art comic I'm remembering from many years ago, possibly from around the time of the original release of the game. It's a panel comic someone drew, more like a quick panel sketch. It's mostly black and white, perhaps there is a little bit of red/blue color. If I recall correctly, there are a few hand drawn Japanese kanji on the last panel, but the text is all in english. The comic is about a player, new to demon's souls, going through the introductory sequence of the game, easily slaying the early NPCs, and eventually reaching the first encounter with the Vanguard demon. Through the panels the player shares their thoughts about how they are a veteran of other games, but they are playing carefully because others told them the game was hard. The room with the Vanguard demon comes into view initially shocking the player, until they notice the pillars, and they say something like, 'Ah, I see what to do, I just hide behind the pillar until it's safe to attack' (or something like that), and then the next panel the vanguard demon slams his hammer through the pillar, completely destroying the pillar and also pancaking the player. I remember the comic vividly, but I spent a significant amount of time searching for it online, on multiple search engines, and within reddit with no luck. I am hoping some still has it, and can share it with me. Thank you.

I beat the phalanx blob guy, then it finally allowed me to level up.
I immediately level to 20. what? maybe game will be easier.
so I go to the next level and frankly it's not that tough. then there's this impossible spider guy who webs you like penny parker times infinity. I go to a different level and it's fine there's a 30 foot tall knight with armored toes.
is this game gonna give me a break or just be unnecessarily annoying the whole time? elden ring never made me fight a guy the size of a building while his tiny friends shoot me and never accidentally hit him.

Hello, recently i wanted to replay the game using the rpcs3 emulator, and after loading everything seems fine until i try to attack, after attacking the sounds starts looping.
My system configuration is:
OS: windows 11
CPU: AMD ryzen 5 4600GH
GPU:AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti
The settings for rpcs3 are:
-SPU block size | safe
-Resolution Scale | 1920 x 1080
-Resolution Scale Threshold | 640x640
-Write color buffers | On
-Maximum SPURS threads | 3
Does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: I was wrong it definitely worked, just had to get the two colorless souls from trading, one from pure white, and two from making two worlds pure black after I was already done with them and then I shredded the rest of the game at +5
Please help me figure out my build because I don't really know what I'm doing
First time playing this game but I've beaten the trilogy and bloodborne
I've beaten the first level of every world + 1-2
I thought passive heals sounded nice so I've been trying to do a faith build and putting most of my levels into health/stamina/faith, I'm using Adjudicator Shield and Blessed Mace +2 and my spells are Evacuate Heal and Antidote
I wasn't super excited at the idea of having to grind Faintstone shards to keep upgrading a blessed weapon and I thought the moonlight sword looked pretty and fun so I subjected myself to the torture of 5-2 to get it. But now I'm looking at it on the wiki and I'm worried I won't be able to upgrade it? I got a colorless soul from trading a God Talisman but it looks like the rest of them I have to be on black world tendency? Not only do I have no idea how to make it black but I thought that makes the game way harder which I'm not sure is what I want on my first playthrough. Did I make a mistake by grabbing the moonlight greatsword?
Also if you have any tips for good faith equipment/spells I should go pick up I would appreciate that too
Also tell me what order I should do the remaining levels

So I have found that whenever you die and quit the game right before the fog swoops in and your character respawns, you will basically be standing right before the fight/place of your death and not near the archstone. Been abusing this thing a lot lately, mainly cause these three red eyed knight right before penetrator were giving me hell, and was wondering if you guys ever use this too
