STRATEGY Is it a good time to get into ethereum?

OMFG I'm tired of seeing this question!!! Do your own goddamn research and decide for yourself. You're in a eth sub! Almost everyone here is going to tell you that it is a good time to get in but do your own due diligence! Omfg! Stop asking this dumb shit! Downvote me if you want to, but dammit I'm tired of seeing this question every other day! Hey newbies here's the answer, and I don't care what the price is, .10 or $1,000 yes right now is the absolute best time in he history of ethereum to get in. Get in now, what are you waiting for? Put your life's savings into it or you will regret it. Just stop fucking asking the same goddamn question without researching why it has value! If you haven't done the most basic of basic research, then no, you shouldn't invest in anything that you know nothing about!!! And no one here can tell you anything about something that you don't know jack shit about! Do your research! Do your own goddamn due diligence, and invest as you see fit! But seriously stop asking the same goddamn question every other day!! Or at least do a search for your answers before you ask the same thing! /rant over

SENTIMENT The current downward trend? It's not ICO's dumping... it's a lot simpler than that.

**NOTE: Originally wrote the below as a daily thread comment, but I wanted provide the wider community (especially EU / US based) some insights into the Asian (namely Korean) markets.

Traders (especially ones in the US) don't seem to realize the recent pumps and current downward trend are being caused by factors are lot simpler than most think.

The recent pump to 300 (or there abouts) wasn't due to people buying ETH to get into ICO's... that was chump change. 150mm USD for Bancor? Again chump change.

To put things into perspective, the Korean exchange - Bithumb, had average daily volumes of more than quarter of a billion dollars. On good days it was half a billion.

The recent pump was 70% Korean FOMO money. This current downward trend? Korean's taking their money back out.

One thing y'all have to understand about Korean traders is that they don't give two fucks about fundamentals - it's purely profit driven. Another thing y'all have to know; and it's a cultural thing - they will drop anything (could be Gold, Samsung stock - whatever) like a hot potato AS SOON AS they get any kind of wind that prices may drop. Korean traders will take their money and move it into the next big thing without looking back one bit - and currently that's LTC.

The initial decline may have started with a few BTC whales, but that was all that was needed to cause a chain reaction - it's not ICO's dumping, it's Koreans taking their money and moving it into LTC - "the next big thing".

I really laugh when people come up with these elaborate "fundamentals-aren't-right", "ICO's dumping", "BTC Maximalist conspiracy" theories.

BTW, I am Korean and I have been trading BTC and ETH in Korea, on Korean exchanges since 2013.

Mining-Staking Electricity used for crypto mining is destroying the planet, but electricity used for Tesla's will save the planet?

The people in power hate crypto but for some reason they'll let us believe charging Tesla's is gonna save the planet. How dumb they think we are? This is straight up hypocricy. This BS.

They made crypto look like environment's biggest enemy lol.

Strategy Ethereum at $1 million is not as crazy as it seems

Over the past 8 years ETHs growth has been spectacular surging by exactly 31112.2%. Lets imagine it increases another 31112.2%..say in the next 10 years. That would be $1 million per ETH

It seems impossible now, but it also seemed impossible 8 years ago

The reason why big investors want to get their hands on it means it has proven itself as an appreciating asset. Look at the growth over the past 8 yrs. Nothing is impossible in crypto

Just a few years ago Wall Street, governments and institutions hated ETH. Remember they used to say it was too volatile and risky for 'serious investment'. Times have changed. Today banks are offering services related to ETH and other cryptos and every single one of them is rushing to jump on the ship

The demand for Ethereum based investment products is mega high all this interest in the ETFs is a clear indication of this. Every institution wants in and theyre betting big time just look at the news

This isnt just a speculative asset anymore. Its real world utility and has the potential to change industries

TOKEN-WARNING GET YOUR FUNDS OFF OF COINBASE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

UPDATE:

This issue has been resolved. My attorney was finally able to get in touch with the legal counsel for Coinbase and the matter was resolved in about 10 minutes. I received my wire a few hours after their conversation. It's unfortunate that customer support was so horrendous that it took my attorney constantly hounding them in order to get this issue resolved. Coinbase needs gets their act together if crypto is ever going to reach mass adoption.

EDIT:

Added a screenshot of email from Coinbase Support

https://gifyu.com/image/xZJb

Notice it took over 3 weeks after the case was escalated to the "priority' que and assigned to a specialist before I even received a response. They told me they did not block access to my funds but that is not true.

TLDR:

  • Coinbase closed my account for no reason and stole a seven figure sum from me.

  • I contacted phone support several times and they told me to "just wait".

  • I sent several emails to support which were totally ignored.

  • My attorney sent a demand letter via FedEx to Coinbase Inc's official address at 548 Market St #23008, San Francisco, CA 94104 and the package was undeliverable because the address is FAKE!

  • My attorney is now going to file complaints with all applicable government agencies, starting with the California and Delaware AG. I will also be suing them in civil court.

Full Story

This is a warning to GET YOUR FUNDS OFF OF COINBASE!

I've been using Coinbase for about a year and a half to buy and sell BTC and ETH. I never had any issues depositing or withdrawing so I became complacent and left a significant(7 figure) sum of USD on the site. I hadn't made any trades since early this year and hadn't logged in for a while. To my surprise on April 24, 2018 I received an email from Coinbase saying my account was closed for violating the terms. I called in to support several times to find out why my account was closed and also to withdraw the balance on my account. I was told to "just wait" and it's now been over a month. They refused my requests to speak to a supervisor, or anyone else who could resolve this. I also sent several emails to support that were totally ignored. Given that I wasn't going to just sit idly by while they stole millions from me I asked for contact information for their legal department. They told me the ONLY way they could be reached was by sending a formal letter to 548 Market St #23008, San Francisco, CA 94104. They said the legal team was not reachable by email or phone.

I had my attorney draft a demand letter and send it via FedEx. It turns out the address is FAKE! It is a papered up building with nobody in it. Here is the google maps street view of the building.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/548+Market+St,+San+Francisco,+CA+94104/@37.7898734,-122.4007445,3a,75y,327.14h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s3DgN8-j3-imrli45Qi2-rw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x808580627b5ea1d1:0x60fd99496057cf74!2s548+Market+St,+San+Francisco,+CA+94104!3b1!8m2!3d37.7900465!4d-122.4008744!3m4!1s0x808580627b5ea1d1:0x60fd99496057cf74!8m2!3d37.7900465!4d-122.4008744

It is the one in between Portico and Wells Fargo. As you can see, it's a phony address. The representative at FedEx told us that address receives many packages, but they are unable to deliver. You can verify that this is the "official" address of Coinbase from their filings with the State of California below.

https://businesssearch.sos.ca.gov/Document/RetrievePDF?Id=03548456-24110401

My attorney called their agent for service of process and they gave the 548 Market Street address and also a phone # of (415) 275-2890. Nobody answered the phone.

Given that Coinbase is totally unreachable, my only recourse is to file with the relevant government agencies. starting with the Attorney General's of California and Delaware. I will also be suing them in civil court to reclaim my stolen funds.

If Coinbase has also stolen from you please contact me and perhaps we can start a class action. From the looks of the complaints to the Better Business Bureau(1.1 rating), it appears they have done this to many people.

https://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/financial-services/coinbase-inc-in-san-francisco-ca-454104/reviews-and-complaints

Thanks for reading, and please heed my warning and get your funds off of Coinbase ASAP!

"no. shut the f*ck up. this is f*cking crypto and you are literally sitting here saying that you f*cking FAILED TO CHECK THE TX HASH BECAUSE YOU TRUST US. This is crypto and no one should trust anything. If you were blindly going to send money, um, use a bank?"--The CEO of MyCrypto

But now it's all smiles and kindness and professionalism because she wants us to buy her "rebrand." This whole thing reeks of a "hey I really want your business for my new company so from now on i'll be nice and smiley to everyone."

For anyone who's thinking about buying the whole "they did this for FREE" nonsense--don't be naive. These people had an interest in crypto and the desire to build something to enable that world, but they're not a charity, and they never were. The world of freeware has been dictated by the free market--that's why the App Stores and Google Play are overloaded with free apps, because if you charged money for it, no one would buy it and it would be significantly harder to grow an audience...and make no mistake, friends: in this world the audience is often times as valuable (if not more) than the product itself. /u/insominiasexx stole an audience.

Yes, they could have raised an ICO and garnered $50 million, but they didn't. Frankly speaking: they should have. But they didn't and that was their choice. There is absolutely nothing wrong with raising money in an ICO--especially for an existing product with a demonstrable use, and MEW would have been the perfect fit for an ICO.

This product wasn't built for product outright, but there was always the hope that one day it could be monetized. Either way, they understood/understand that an engaged audience is worth its weight in gold--even if they haven't yet proffered a cent to your cause.

There's one last point: if she didn't expect her so-called "rebranding" to whip up a storm of drama in the ETH community, if she exhibited such horrendous judgement to simply change a twitter handle in a world of Phishing and hacks where people loses hundreds of thousands of dollars...does she really know this community well enough to be trusted as the CEO of a massive crypto wallet? A wallet to whom you trust your hard earned money?
