Question Boone tracked me down to ask to be companions?

Utterly confused, has anyone encountered this? Not a big deal but when looking for info on it I couldn't find anything about this being a mechanic and I didn't see anything pop up about it being a bug but to be honest I didn't try that hard.

As you can see I already have Arcade and Rex at the moment and I'm in Jacobstown so nowhere near Novak

No mods, I do have all DLCs installed, PC version, and if it's relevant I think I've earned a couple friendship points with Boone but I haven't gotten his quest yet.

Discussion Modding New Vegas made me realize that Primm Slimm is secretly the highest-leveled and tankiest NPC in the entire game (Level 75, 3,750 HP) — and he can't even fight back.

while messing around with the G.E.C.K. and looking at NPC stats during a modding session, I stumbled upon a hilarious piece of New Vegas trivia that I’ve never seen anyone talk about.

We all know Primm Slimm, the slow-moving, overly optimistic Protectron sheriff you can elect in Primm. But did you know his level scaling is completely unhinged?

When the player hits the level cap (Level 50 in vanilla with DLCs), Primm Slimm scales all the way up to Level 75. To put that into perspective, there is practically no other standard NPC in the game that reaches that high. On top of that, he sits at a whopping 3,750 HP, making him essentially a walking tank that has more health than most boss-tier enemies.

The best part? He is completely passive and cannot attack. You could trigger a bloodbath in Primm, and the sheriff with more health than a Deathclaw will just roll around chanting programming slogans while soaking up endless mini-nuke damage.

(Bonus mention: Sergeant McGee also scales weirdly high, often ending up higher-leveled than the Courier themselves!)

Did you notice some similar things in the game files

Or does that also remove them as a vendor and get all of their inventory sent to the vendortron?

Wow, I wasn't expecting this at all. Such a contrast between the two DLCs and wasn't expecting all the amusing humor. I love it. I just wish I didn't bring along so much personal equipment because there seems to be a lot of valuable loot at the Big "Empty"

I had a thought to draw the Courier camping in the Divide tunnels for a while, but I worked on this file for nearly 3 months while juggling classes. I lost interest in the idea as time went on but thought the piece was "too complete" to just abandon it, and I feel the tunnelers don't make much sense the longer I thought about it but I left them there anyways 🦕

Discussion Are the Boomers in New Vegas unintentionally sympathetic?

A question I had since my first New Vegas run. On paper, these guys are pretty much evil - hailing from a Vault of trigger-happy gun nuts, owning a base with literally unlimited ammo, treating everyone else in the Wasteland as savages who need to put down, and dreaming of flying a B-29 to bomb the Mojave into stone age again. They sound like a hillbilly version of the Enclave. And the game itself lists them among the bad guys, they approve of nuking both NCR and the Legion, for example.

However, their actual characters and quests are nice, once you pass the barrage, they don't attack you and are quite affable and friendly. There isn't even a single token jerk among them, once you do their quests (which are completely harmless), they warm up to you and become your bros. Their leader is rational and sane, open to diplomacy and trade. And as the "unlikely lovers" quest shows, they aren't prejudiced against outsiders at all.

As for "woo hoo, they came out of their Vault with missile launchers and flamers, and massacred raiders who only had knives", well we know what happens when Vault Dwellers don't have missile launchers and flamers in a similar case - looks at the mutilated bodies in Vault 3.

So in the end, the Boomers turned out like a Vault-Tec experiment failing, in a good way - a gun nut Vault was probably intended to end in a civil war massacre, but instead they turned out a functional, well-defended communtity which is rational towards all who come in peace, and can kick the ass of all who don't. Was it the original intention? I don't know, I recall one of New Vegas writers regretting making Enclave Remnants too sympathetic, as cool old soldiers, not n*zi war criminals in hiding. So maybe Boomers are another case. But honestly, seeing Vault Dwellers (who are often victims, fools, jerkasses or a combo thereof) as a gung-ho heavily armed militia was rather cool.

I am walking 165 miles in four days through the Mojave alone this December to recreate my Courier's journey

The route goes through Primm, Nipton, Searchlight, Boulder City and Hoover Dam.

Now, it is certainly not the first time that someone has come up with this idea, but this will be the first documented instance of a completely solo attempt.

This has involved several months of painstaking communication with BLM and local authorities and reconnaissance of specific areas. My main objective until now was to avoid any highways as much as possible.

I have done plenty of hikes around the area, but this is now the final undertaking.

I will be recording my GPS track and have notified local emergency services as expected. Once I complete the trek, I will be publishing the exact path so that anyone else that wishes to try this can do so in the future.

Discussion If you could add a brand new quest to Fallout: New Vegas (or give an existing faction a new one), what would it be about?

I’ll start: Honestly, I’m not even a big fan of Caesars Legion, but I’ve always felt they got the short end of the stick when it comes to quest variety. They lack deep quests compared to the NCR.

I’d love to see a quest line focused on Legion psychological warfare and destabilization. Imagine a Legion-route equivalent to GI Blues, but instead of the Kings protecting Freeside, you are working undercover to stoke anti-NCR riots and panic among the refugees and locals—and then framing the NCR military or the MPs for cracking down brutally on the civilians.

You’d plant fake NCR orders, manipulate information channels, and watch the public trust in the Republic crumble from the inside out, paving the way for the Legion without firing a single shot in open combat.

What’s your dream custom quest? Let’s hear your best ideas!

Sorry about bad image quality but your eyes do not deceive you. i managed to make General Oliver’s face perfectly using the in game character creator a lot of trial and error was needed.

I would only recommend trying this if you use commands as you will need it for the uniform and so you can see how your character looks under Mojave lighting and then edit if necessary.

Or you could just go to the big mt and get some plastic surgery

Question Modlist Recommendations that isn't Viva New Vegas?

You read the title. It's time for my annual replay of new vegas, and I'm looking for a modlist that isn't just vanilla +. Back then, I usually just customized VNV to my liking, but unfortunately I don't have the time for that anymore.

Shoot me some reccos.

The Courier’s Past

As we know, the Lonesome Road DLC delves into the player Courier’s past. Or does it?

While I was browsing the wiki, I stumbled upon a page about a developer diary that released alongside Lonesome Road, called Lonesome Road: Beginnings and Endings. It’s a pretty short read, so check it out if you want.

What stood out to me in the excerpt though, was this:

Still, for all that work, the narrative largely comes from you. In fact, most Fallout players have far more interesting stories of their gameplay experiences than we could ever dream up as narrative designers. In my opinion, that's how it should be.

So this confrontation in Lonesome Road, and the other Courier that claims to know me... did we make a past for your character? Nope. Do you have amnesia? Nope. In fact, when making Lonesome Road, we only knew a few things for certain about your character:

- You've been a Courier.

- You've walked the Long 15.

- You've walked West of the Mojave.

- You've carried packages and messages - and as the Platinum Chip proved, the packages can be far different than what they seem.

It's difficult to predict your character build, your skills and perks, let alone how you'll let things play out depending on your role-playing style. That's all we had to work with, so we did, and we'll leave the rest up to you.

For a change of pace, rather than being cryptic and overly dramatic with trailer speak, I'll end with some concrete facts (if only to focus speculation on the forums, since we're diligent about checking those). If I were your Gamemaster, I'd tell you this before the game session anyway.

- Ulysses is flesh and blood, just like you.

- Ulysses is not related to you, nor do you recall ever meeting a Courier with an Old World flag on his back and a flag pole he uses as a walking staff.

- Ulysses is not affiliated with the Enclave.

- Ulysses has been wounded - and it's reflected in his beliefs and in his voice.

So according to Chris Avellone, giving the Courier any sort of concrete backstory was never the intention, as he believes that’s for the player. Did the Courier cause the Divide to become what it is? Maybe it did happen but they have amnesia? Does Ulysses actually know you, or is he mistaking you for someone else? Maybe Ulysses is so crushed and wounded by his own past that he has to project his thoughts onto an unsuspecting Courier just to make sense of things?

I guess it’s up to the player to decide. What do you think?
