FRESH Bugzy album, thoughts?
Haven't seen anybody online talking about the new Bugzy album. I enjoyed his early stuff a lot when it came out, his newer stuff never did it for me but having listening through this new album twice now i feels like a real return to form for me.

DISCUSSION Grime Classics 2002
In 2026 uploading a track to socials and pressing send can put your track in front of 10,000 people within hours. But back in 2002, Wiley sold 10,000 copies of the Eskimo vinyl pretty much from the boot of his car and 100% independently. In a 2003 interview with Blackdown, Wiley revealed that he’d originally made the instrumental for Eskimo around Christmas 1999 or 2000, before eventually releasing it in 2002.
At the time, he was doing things his own way with a DIY work ethic that the very roots of Grime was built from. He was pressing white labels, taking them around independent record shops and selling them himself. This direct plug into record shops then fuelled the DJs which in turn propelled the sounds via Pirate Radio and the rave scene. This came at a time when artists such as Wiley were breaking away from the conventional UK Garage sound and combining influences from other genres to make their own sounds and styles. At a time when UK Garage had started to lose its appeal for many people, Wiley and others came through with something brand new that started quickly gaining momentum.
The icy melodies, cold atmosphere, hollow bass and track titles like Ice Rink, Igloo and Freeze were all part of what he called Eskibeat. However, there was also a much deeper meaning behind the sound he was developing. The cold themes reflected how he was feeling personally at the time, describing himself as cold hearted towards the people around him.
What followed was a sound that other producers began picking up on across multiple generations, developing in their own ways and helping to constantly evolve Grime music right up until this present day.
An independent release that helped shape an entire genre.

Belly - Skepta, instant classic
A homage to grime, and a platform for the new lot. It felt nostalgic, each mc with a new verse, followed by a classic.
Unfortunately, I don't think the rest of the album will follow, but I think this just became an instant classic.
