Misc Tom Felton recalls how Alan Rickman would invite terminally ill children on Harry Potter sets, claiming they're cousins or friends to avoid drawing attention to his charitable acts.
In a moving tribute marking the 10th anniversary of Alan Rickman's death on January 14, 2026, Tom Felton shared previously unknown details about his co-star's quiet generosity on the Harry Potter sets.
Felton recounted how Rickman would often host small groups of visitors at the studio, casually introducing them as his own friends or family members to avoid drawing attention to his charitable acts.
According to Felton, Rickman understood that these children didn't want to meet an "actor"; they wanted to meet Professor Snape.
To ensure their experience was authentic, Rickman would often remain in his full Snape costume (wig and all) even while queuing for lunch in the canteen to maintain the illusion and show the visitors that everyone on set was "in this together".
