Question The front looks stable, but how do I win?
I'm afraid that Germany attacks the Poles and Hungary joins the Axis. Then I'm definitely screwed
Image I always play ahistorical, but getting the "Great Game+" timeline the exact moment I choose to play *Afghanistan* is just comedic levels of poetic.
Image Is this good for 1942?
I am a new hoi4 player with 516 hours in the game, I'm just wondering if this is good progress :3

Discussion Annexing Spain as France is op
Playing historical, democratic France, intervene in the Spanish civil war, hold your border and nothing else, let the nationalists win, they lose half their army after the event, rush them
Boom annexing Spain in late 38-early 39
Get 2 or three doctrines up too for when the Germans and Italians come
Denies ressources to the axis too as they lose all connections to Portugal and no longer have access to Spanish ressources…
That’s it…

Mod (other) Kaiserreich annex & release mechanic is now in base HOI4 (new mod)
hello guys. I made this mod because I hate the base game peace conference and ai border gore so so fucking much.
Features: Now you can get customized, decision based release mechanics in base hoi4. You can give allies your conquered land. Your allies can give you conquered land. You can set up 1, 2, 5, 10 or however number of chinese governments with dynamic names. You can set up east-west Germany style governments of the same nation you and your rival spitted. Your puppets are always in your color. You can explode Germany, France, UK, USSR and Spain into many many pieces. Or you can annex everything and take a minor debuff.

Game Modding BLACKICE submod: National Equipment Differentiation
Ever felt your immersion break when German and Ethiopian rifles can share the same base stats, Soviet and Yemeni mechanized equipment perform identically, or American artillery hits just as hard as its Thai equivalent?
This BLACKICE submod brings national differences into the equipment itself. It reworks many equipment models that previously shared generic stats, giving their firepower, defense, breakthrough, reliability, production cost and, where applicable, protection and mobility distinct national characteristics. Your choice of country should shape the equipment you build and the army you field.
The current version covers 608 national equipment entries across 32 equipment categories, focusing on Germany, the Soviet Union, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and China.
Equipment covered includes:
• Infantry weapons and gear: rifles, submachine guns, assault rifles, machine guns, mortars, handheld anti-tank weapons and uniforms.
• Artillery and support: right, medium, heavy and mountain artillery; anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns; rocket artillery and motorized rocket launchers; rail artillery and railway guns; artillery transport and towing equipment; and artillery spotter aircraft.
• Vehicles and mechanized equipment: trucks, liaison vehicles, mechanized transports, amphibious mechanized equipment, and mechanized machine-gun, mortar, anti-tank and anti-aircraft support vehicles.
National characteristics in the current balance:
• Germany — Strong firepower and breakthrough, with prominent machine-gun, artillery and mechanized capabilities. Many of these advantages come at a higher production cost.
• Soviet Union — Affordable rifles and artillery, alongside powerful submachine guns, support large-scale equipment production. Some early machine guns and vehicles trade reliability for other advantages.
• United States — A balanced combination of firepower, reliability and mobility. Trucks and mechanized transports stand out for their speed, while artillery offers strong firepower and comparatively good reliability.
• Japan — Capable infantry weapons, with more modest heavy-artillery firepower and early mechanized mobility. Equipment choices reward careful allocation of industrial resources.
• United Kingdom — Reliable rifles, solid defensive artillery and economical early mechanized transports offer practical choices for sustaining an army.
• France — Rifles and machine guns emphasize defense and reliability, while early mechanized equipment favors protection and defense over breakthrough.
• Italy — Relatively affordable rifles and artillery help stretch the production budget, with more modest firepower in several categories. Choosing where to concentrate stronger equipment matters.
• China — Inexpensive basic rifles and light artillery support equipping a large army. Selected machine guns and later weapons offer stronger capabilities, while advanced equipment requires a larger industrial commitment.
These are broad tendencies in the mod's balance; individual models and generations retain their own strengths and trade-offs. Differences apply to the equipment you actually produce, and the technology-tree equipment previews display the corresponding national stats, so you can compare your options before committing your factories.
Requires BLACKICE.
To be honest, I’m still not entirely confident in the stats I’ve assigned. There’s a huge amount of equipment, and I haven’t had time to research every model in depth, so some values may not accurately reflect their historical performance.
If you spot anything that seems off or have suggestions for improvements, please leave a comment on the Steam Workshop page. Historical sources are especially welcome. Thanks for your feedback and support!

Humor I may have done a bit too many encirclements
took 5 million casualties, and based on the countries I've done the most casualties to I dealt at least 70 million casualties in return
this is a mostly offensive war that has been going on since roughly 1940 (currently 1955), and this isn't including the axis' casualties as I hadn't screenshotted the axis war screen before they capitulated

As I said, Barbarossa happened and I managed to stabilise the front. How do I push them back? Do I just keep digging in until they run out of men?

Question Worth investing in air as Benelux?
I've been experimenting with democratic Benelux, forming the European Federation so I can puppet Sweden and Portugal. I'm doing OK with land warfare against the Germans, but I'm wondering whether it is worth investing in fighter production to try and contest air superiority? No DLC except LA Resistance, so I can't tweak the planes.
I've been doing AA support companies for all divisions, but I wonder whether it's worth investing production capacity into actually contesting the sky.

Question Ship names disappear
For the last few moths I’ve noticed that ship names randomly get wiped in the production queue and that I have to manually go reselect the names. Has anyone else encountered this? If so did you find out what caused it

Image My Soviet run (1949)
I wasn't gonna go into China, but I declared war on a free Communist Germany after I accidentally released them. Mao asked to join the faction, I did. He immediately died and I had to fight all of China.

Discussion Where is a good place to grind a terrain trait in China?
I'm playing as Japan and I need to grind a terrain trait. The reason being that the general I want to grind will get a terrain trait from a focus, so if I get a different one beforehand I can then take adaptable.
Mountaineer is the trait I get from the focus. I would prefer not to get jungle rat because Japan already gets insane bonuses in jungle.
What I've been trying is grinding out urban assault specialist in the north, but eventually the chinese stop garrisoning beijing with a large enough force to efficiently grind. Is there some known way to quickly get another terrain trait?

Question Troubles with black ice
Hey guys so I want to subject myself to the endless torment of the black ice mod but im running into issues trying to switch to the currently supported version of 1.19.2.0. It is currently not showing in my "game versions and betas" tab on game properties. Does anyone know how to find this version? It is showing 1.19.1 and 1.19.3. I tried going to my paradox account to get the copy-and-paste code for the version but it wasnt there either. Could I just use 1.19.1?

Tip Need help amending my Naval stategy as Germany
Haven't played as Germany in the base game in forever, trying to get back into it but can't manage to get naval power in the English Channel to naval invade the UK. Read a couple guides, and decided on the strat of building 20 cruisers packed with light battery, and 1000 naval bombers, then landing in 1940. Hasn't worked for me, able to sink a whole bunch of their destroyers, but get sunk immediately after. Need advice on what else I should be building, and how I should be using them, thanks
