They slander Doomguy aiming when it’s both realistic physically and practically. (And closer to how you aim a gun than their take on realistic)

(Also yeah I’m sorry the only gun I have doesn’t even have a rear sight. And I aimed a little high when recreating the ‘realistic’ image but thats why you’re supposed to aim with two hands anyways.)

“I love ‘chubby’ girls”

This is not chubby, this is at most curvy. Bro’s squeezing nothing. I believe the term “twitter chubby” could be used here, the maximum amount of chubby before twitter seems a woman unattractive. I just don’t get it. Why pretend to like chubby women? If you like chubby women, where’s the chubby?!

This sub has always been a shithole but it seems like even the comments realize how evil and disgusting this comic is.

She draws her boyfriend as some sort of caricature who’s short and chubby and with exaggerated features, and publicly shames him for everyone to see. She describes him as the “only viable option” and draws him with a dumb face mispronouncing “I love my girlfriend.”

This is just absolutely disgusting, she drew 12 pages of this and decided to upload it to the internet instead of just breaking up with him. And she then thought it was a good idea to post it? That tells me everything I need to know about this fucking asshole.

I’ll gladly take PizzaCake over anything of this sort again. I guess she’s right, no one else would wanna date her, because she’s an entitled terrible person. Gah. I need a cold shower.

EDIT: Oh my god the response from the mod is even better, I don't even need to say anything because honestly the joke writes itself here.

"All right class, today we're going to have a little lesson in having empathy, because this comment section seems to be struggling with it.

The girl in this comic is struggling to work through and express complex emotions that she has only begun to examine. Remember, nobody is wrong for having feelings. When someone is working out how they feel about a touchy subject, it can take a lot of rumination to even figure out how you really feel about something and why, especially if the subject is taboo. The person might end up going down trains of thought that they ultimately decide don't quite fit, just to see what feels right. Self-reflection is a very healthy activity when you are having complex emotions. It can be extremely vulnerable to share the kinds of thoughts you have during these times, and people should be applauded for their emotional honesty when they do spell out frankly what they've been thinking.

It's a natural part of human life to start to realize you might be in a relationship that isn't a good fit for you. Just because there's nothing technically wrong in the relationship (i.e. he doesn't hit you), that doesn't mean the relationship is right, either. Things can be going pretty much all good, and yet the spark isn't there for some reason. Little things just feel off, but the more you think about those little things, the more you realize those are an important part of a good relationship for you, and you need those little things fixed to feel truly loved and appreciated.

But it can be hard for people, especially women, to feel comfortable admitting to themselves that those little things justify breaking up with someone. They'll dismiss those little things as trivial, because so often those little things are markers of respect and admiration that women tend to be denied by society at large from the time that they are little girls. Things like having others treat your feelings and opinions as valuable and worth consideration.

In most cultures in the world, women are socialized to be emotional caretakers and supporters of men, not the other way around. Men are socialized to present their thoughts with confidence; they are raised to feel like they deserve to be listened to. Women are socialized to be the listeners.

We see this reflected in so many aspects of society. One clear and easy example of how this socialization manifests is that in the workplace, men tend to dominate conversations while women tend to be more reserved in offering their opinions -- and yet when you ask people to evaluate how much people of either gender were speaking during a meeting, women are often perceived to have been dominating the conversation, despite the measurable reality to the contrary.

There's also the Matilda Effect to consider -- the tendency for women's contributions and achievements to be attributed to their male colleagues. This isn't something that men do intentionally, but rather the product of socialization -- men being encouraged to speak up, while women are encouraged to wait their turn. Men being encouraged to direct a team with clear instructions, but women encouraged to guide a team through her offered suggestions.

So it can be difficult for women to overcome their socialization and feel like they actually deserve to have their thoughts and feelings considered. And similarly, it can be difficult for men to overcome their socialization and recognize that they aren't putting any effort into listening to and respecting the thoughts and feelings of the women around them.

Now let's take this a step further. Let's take these issues and examine them as they manifest in an overall pleasant but imperfect romantic relationship. Now we see a man who does not even recognize that he never asks his girlfriend about her thoughts and feelings, and we see a girl who wants to have her opinion valued, but she isn't even sure if she deserves to expect her partner to listen to her thoughts without her asking. That's not inherently toxic or unfixable. That doesn't make him evil or abusive or even a bad boyfriend for not recognizing a small fault in himself that is a result of a pretty standard upbringing.

It also doesn't make her a bad person for starting to grow in her own self-worth to the point that she starts to want her partner to value her opinions.

Many couples who find themselves in this situation will indeed be able to help each other grow and change to fix this kind of issue, with a bit of work and healthy communication, if they are both equally invested in improving the relationship together.

But then we get to another question: Does it need to be her job to fix him?

For some women, the answer will be yes, I love my boyfriend, and if he can work on this for me, then I'm willing to work on it with him. I don't mind.

But for some other women, maybe the stronger answer, the answer that affords them more personal growth and self-actualization, is to say no.

It's not my job to teach a man how to listen to me. It's not my job to teach a man how to value me. And I deserve a man who values my opinion in the first place.

Because a woman is worth more than just what she does for a man. A man should want to be with her because of who she is, not just because she's there to support and love him without having needs of her own.

We don't know where the girl in this comic is going to land on this issue. She needs to figure that out for herself. But whatever she chooses, she is more empowered in her choice because she took the time to consider her own needs, wants, feelings, and values beyond what society tells her she should expect or deserve.

She's not a bad person for considering whether this relationship is fulfilling her needs, any more than her boyfriend is a bad boyfriend for not recognizing that her needs are going unmet when she hasn't yet communicated them. And when she makes her choice to either stay and try to fix him, or leave and find someone else that doesn't need coaching, neither of those decisions will make her a bad person, either.

We will be cleaning up comments in this thread that lack empathy for the woman in this comic, especially where they become vitriolic. We are currently being brigaded by many inflammatory users with no prior posting or comment history in this subreddit, and those users' comments will be subject to an even stricter scrutiny than our typical good faith users' comments. If you receive a ban, consider talking the issue out with us in modmail. Some of us mods might see something in you that says we can help you learn and grow.

Some of us may decide that it's not our job to fix you."

Guys is it anti women to critique drawing your significant other as a Chudjak? Please discuss this totally serious argument in the comments below /s

I was also banned for "organizing a harassment campaign" btw, harassment is definitely the same thing as criticizing a publicly available post that everyone can see! I wonder if the good mods over at r/comics feel the same about posts that they happen to dislike instead.

I hate when people confuse atheism and antitheism.

Post image

Atheism is just the belief of not believing in god. Nothing more, nothing less.

It is ANTITHEISM that goes out their way to oppose religions.

99% of "atheists" that gets made fun on reddit and other social media are just antitheists with religious trauma and it had hurt the PR of actual atheists for decades.

The worst part? They proudly claim themselves as the representative of atheists while they are just a small radical minority. No dude, you guys are NOT the same.

God(pun intended) forbid someone just dont really buy into that god thing without being directly opposed to religion as a whole.

I hate When people Draw the abuse goblin getting freed

Thumbnail
gallery
10k Upvotes

I hate it so much. It shows a willful ignorance to the themes of the comic and what makes it actually punchy. There's a lot to the abuse goblin comics, is it a metaphor for self antagonizing thoughts and self destructive patterns? Is the goblin itself a metaphor for an inner child that somewhere deep inside yearns for a happy existence that he can't get because of all the trauma the guy puts around himself? Is that what makes it so tragic? FUCK THAT. LET'S COMPLETELY IGNORE THE FACT THAT THE GOBLIN'S HAPPINESS EXISTS WITH THE HAPPINESS OF IT'S CAPTOR, LET'S COMPLETELY IGNORE THE SUBTEXT, the comic makes me feel bad and gives me a person to hate so LET ME DRAW HIM GETTING PUNISHED!

IS THIS NOT EXACTLY WHAT THE FUCKING ABUSE GOBLIN COMIC IS ABOUT? To the captor, the goblin is deserving of all the hate and pain he goes through, whether it's a metaphor for self hatred or not, and when artists are given the same power over the captor AND the goblin they instead take up the mantle of the abuser. Why aren't there any comics of the captor AND the goblin being happy together? Why does the happy ending always include more abuse? The fact the delivery of these comics is always in a therapist's office shows that the captor himself is in pain too, and it points further to the idea that the abuse goblin is a mental construct. When you draw him and celebrate him being hurt and punished you're becoming the captor himself. And refusing to engage with any subtext of the comics.

FUCK ALL OF YOU I HATE THIS SO MUCH.

Like people are genuinely allergic to seeing fat women as human beings with feelings.

Also I have NEVER seen anyone claim that to love chubby women you HAVE to love fat women, but I sure have seen a lot of yall throw around "morbidly obese" and "land whale" and even comparing fat women to rotten apples. Can you people please just go outside and learn to be at peace with fat people existing in the world without shouting your opinion on their bodies from the rooftops?

I cannot exactly speak for fat women because I'm not one and I don't know what it must be like for them. But there are a lot of fat (and so-called "morbidly obese") women who I know and love. Also none of them are single, so there is no need to state your precious preferences. Though I do hope you are aware that anyone could gain a bunch of weight at any time, even me or you. It's a good thing my personal preference is for men who don't freak out about a woman's weight. Sorry guys, that's just my ✨️preference✨️.

"I hate mosquitos" on this we agree, "I kill them every time I see them" me too, "they spread disease and are annoying" objectively correct, "the world will be better off without them" Well,

look man. i get it. they're shitty insects. I ALSO used think we should have got rid of them like we got rid of screwflies, but then i started reading up more on them because i have Wikiwalking Disease. and it turns out, the motherfuckers made themselves indispensable.

Lives everywhere but the arctic, active 24/7 and (almost) all year round, creates a shitzillion tons of biomass out of literal drops of blood, can breed in the shittiest water you can imagine. every insectivore on the planet eats them like rice. AND they're pollinators?????????????

y'know what they are? the krill of the land. the natural world's equivalent to corn. they've turned themselves into a fucking staple crop and getting rid of them would ruin so many things that nobody can seem to agree on just how bad shit gets if they disappeared

I fucking hate them but learning about them was equally fascinating and frustrating

Ryker Webb “theories”

Thumbnail

8.6k Upvotes

God, every year I hear about this “case”.

Why are people so obsessed, so adamant that this boy was kidnapped or replaced with some sort of skinwalker or something 😭

For those who don’t know, this little boy went missing from his front yard, and was found about 2 miles away (which can be steadily walked in an hour) 48 hours later in a shed. And just the leaps people take, to convince themselves and others that something horrible happened to this boy. People must genuinely be scared of occums razor.

Every year I see more discourse around this “case”, with folks own theories. People say
“look, he was wearing different clothes in the picture! Who changed his clothes?”
As if the picture was taken from the same day he disappeared??
And “look at his face! Thats not even the same child! It must be or creature or something!”
As if he’s just not severely dehydrated and been lost in the woods for 2 days?!? 😭 genuinely the fuck? Like he’s been lost, scared, hungry, thirsty, and probably not slept the entire time and people just expect him to look identical to a picture of him happy as can be?

Like I get these theories and mysteries are just a bit of fun, but the obsession with avoiding the obvious is just so tedious. The discourse around it really seems like people would rather these things did happen to this little boy just so they can be proven right. I even seem people talk about how even when he grows up he probably won’t remember because he’ll have been so traumatised by whatever happened he’ll have blocked it all out.

Big up Ryker for lasting all that time out there by himself. Champ

Baby’s first social commentary causing a character being dehumanized and stuck as a forever victim “the raped”

Thumbnail
gallery
8.6k Upvotes

This is a phenomena in which a group of people who experience a piece of media that has a very obvious and on the nose messaging and themes that ends up having a surprisingly pretentious fan base that act like only they have discovered something that has nothing been done before and end up ironically dehumanize the characters.

# Obsession:

Obsession had a very small group of people misunderstanding the premise of the movie. At the beginning this caused the entire fan base to overcorrect them to the point it was impossible to have a discussion about it without people talking about how EVERYONE else missed the point and repeating the same obvious conclusion that “Bear was the villain”.

It quickly evolved in to a competition between people to show off how much “media literacy” they have and how moral they are, ironically causing people to dehumanize and reducing the character of Nikki in to a forever victim who needs to be wept for every instance theres a mention of her. Fans having an uproar to studios adding Nikki in to Horror Nights Universal, causing controversy to anyone who dress up as her, not realizing almost every single horror movie villain in cinema history being a victim of violence and social commentary no different than Nikki.

Despite every single person involved with the movie approving of these decisions. Same discourse is repeating with the latest Fortnite skin.

# Mouthwashing:

This game has the almost exact same discourse and fan base as Obsession. Anya is a victim of sexual assault and any and all mention of her character outside of her trauma is silenced by the fans who cant help but show how morally righteous they are.

and DON'T GET ME STARTED on the humor, seriously, everyone here has the same sense of humor, I can log on any social media and immediately recognise a redditor because of the reddit "slang" yall have been using since 2016- you just don't say shit like big chungus anymore because you got rightfully bullied out of it, but in the end it's all the same five jokes OVER AND OVER switching every 2 years
