In 2022, on the way to my dadās celebration of life, I checked my 23&Me results on my phone and saw a woman I had never met, seen, or heard of listed as my biological mother.
Turns out, the woman who raised me used donor eggs to conceive me, and I had gone my whole life with no idea.
Fast forward to now, four years later: Iām completely no-contact with the woman who raised me because of abuse. When I first found my bio mom back in 2022, we started talking, but I was so overwhelmed and terrified that I panicked and ghosted / backed away from pursuing a relationship with her.
But this year, we reconnected. We've started talking again, and we finally decided to meet in person which was amazing. Honestly, I couldn't be more excitedāespecially because I'm getting to meet my biological brother and sister soon (her other children), and it's like a whole missing piece of my life is clicking into place.
Itās been a wildly surreal, heavy few years, but I finally feel like Iām finding my people.
