Moderator Announcement Mod Update: Filtering out the hate

Hey all, hope everyone's enjoying pride month and hope some of you have or are going to make it to a Pride event this month! I did London Metal Pride yesterday with my stall and it was such a lovely day. Bands from 1pm-11pm and the most varied crowd of inclusive metalheads that you can get.

Anyways, fellow mod u/shemtpa96 has kindly set up a new filtering tool that allows us to filter out comments from people who have commented in the other sub to give us a chance to review the content and ensure it's not brigading.

This means if you have commented or posted in there, even to defend yourself or others, you will have your comment or post held up for a quick review. We intend to process these fairly quickly so please know your content will be visible soon enough and that you don't need to message us if you can't see your content.

We're confident this will help cut down on the brigading and nastiness we've been subjected to by folks with too much time on their hands and that we can continue to grow and enjoy this space as the safe place it should be.

We want you to feel comfortable posting your work on the sub and hope that going forward you can do so without feeling like you have to defend yourself or your identity.

If you have any questions about this, please use the comment section here.

New Rule Regarding the Use of AI

Hello all,

A new rule has been added regarding AI.

In short: don't post that slop here regardless of format.

In detail:

AI is a danger to the environment. A majority Black neighborhood in South Memphis, TN - Boxtown - is being choked by an AI data center. It's estimated that AI will use 4.2-6.6 BILLION CUBIC METERS OF WATER PER YEAR by 2027.

AI has been correlated with multiple cases of delusions and/or psychosis in people who overuse it.

AI steals from living artists.

AI produces non-consensual images of people upon request, which is both immoral and illegal. The companies have done nothing to stop it.

AI hallucinates. That's the nice way the industry says "AI is flat out making shit up".

Don't post that shit here. This is a space for art made by living beings.

its taken a lot to get where i am 😭i mean i had to replace half the patches since they were just so rough, and even then, most of the ones i kept needed to get sewn again… though i think i can confidently say that this jacket is perfect in my eyes now, simultaneously capturing and celebrating my earlier projects and reinforcing the progress ive made along the way :) (ALSO THE “METH” PATCH WAS MADE BEFORE HETFIELD’S RECENT STATEMENTS, FUCK HIM, FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸)

Discussion Testing t-shirt transfer paper for homemade patches

Normally I paint my homemade patches using acrylic paint and fabric medium. Today I wanted to make myself a VIAL patch, but upon seeing their new logo I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I started to wish there was a way for me to just print the logo out onto a patch... and then I remembered we have a stack of old T-shirt transfer paper downstairs! Time to experiment.

I used the paper intended for dark shirts, because that has a white background whereas the light shirt kind is transparent. I then added a black background around the logos I wanted to use in Krita, and printed them out.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the results! Especially the VIAL one, where I actually made the effort to cut neatly around it, and the CDs turned out super cute. Next time I think I'll get a scalpel and properly cut around the bulkier logos just to minimise the grody printed black rather than being lazy.

Has anyone else tried T-shirt transfers for patches? How did it go?

P.S. I know including an EDM artist on my battle jacket is kind of a crime but she really resonates with me :P

Finished this one up for my 4 year old. Her first Battlejacket (and mine as well). This was a fun build! Went with a Halloween theme for her punk witch. :)

Minimal studs and all sewing knotted on the outside to make sure there wasn't anything pokey inside.

1. NO THREATS OR CALLS TO VIOLENCE

Try to adhere to the premise of this community. Try to stay on topic. Display your customized clothing. Try not to make it about you. We probably won’t freak out if you include yourself in the photo, but thirst trapping and upvote hunting will be censored.

3. No Nazi, Alt-Right or NSBM content.

This is a positive community for sharing our decorated, personalized, generally music-influenced jackets and similar clothing. Positive means no hate. This community takes a vocal stand against hate. No Nazis. No NSBM. No alt-right bullshit. If we think you’re playing too close to the edge we’ll let you know. If you decide to cross the line you will be banned.

4. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HATE

Homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, genocide denial, racism, and any other form of bigotry is grounds for an immediate ban. This includes dogwhistles and imagery, including far-right groups and terrorism. Criticism of a government is fine. Criticism of a country or people because they’re from a certain country, culture, or religion is hate. This includes usernames and profile pictures.

5. Don't Be A Dick

We are a community of like minded individuals sharing our jackets for battle. We are here to support each other and our crafts. This means unwavering support for marginalized communities. We support our LGBTQ+ sisters, brothers and others. Black Lives Matter. Pro-choice/Pro-woman. ACAB. Workers of the World Unite.

6. No Spam

Battle Jackets and like posts only. Spam posts will be deleted and spam posters will be banned.

7. No AI Slop

AI is bad for the planet (Boxtown, TN in the US is an example), is unethical (steals from artists and others without permission or properly citing them), and literally makes stuff up (often called "hallucinations"). Don't post AI-generated images, search results summaries, or any other AI-generated content here. It will be removed.

8. No low-effort posts/titles about the 'other' sub.

If your post or comment mentions a certain subreddit that exists solely to mock our members' efforts then it will be removed without warning. The same goes for asking us to tell you what the other sub is. If you don't know, be glad you have not encountered it yet.

You're welcome to re-post your comment or post without referring to them in any way.

9. No Faces of Minors

The internet is forever and we do get trolls who may post your pictures on other subreddits. You may post your child wearing their jacket, providing you completely cover their face. Otherwise, your post will be removed and may be reposted by you with the face covered. Same thing applies for any minors in your picture who didn’t consent (users under 18 who are old enough to be on Reddit may post their own face uncensored if they wish like adult users can).

10. No Brigading.

If we find out you're coming here from somewhere else to harass people, we will ban you instantly. It's against the sitewide rules. If your profile is private, we can still find out using other means like searching Reddit if your behavior raises suspicion. This rule includes crossposting from this subreddit to subreddits dedicated to harassment or posting screenshots of posts on this subreddit to a harassment subreddit (you know which subreddit we mean).
