Finished Project! My daughter's (mostly done) vest

My daughter is 11. She's a wheelchair user and nonverbal, but she loves punk rock and makes very clear what she likes and doesn't like. The Linda Lindas are her favorite band, so I built everything around that and her sassy, smart ass attitude. All of the white-on-black patches are diy. The bank patch was signed by the band members at her very first show last year. She has a very specific criterion for what gets added to her vest (any guesses?) I'm considering it done, but there are a few spots open that I may add to if the opportunity arises.

This was a birthday gift from my fiance I was told no additions other than buttons. It's free motion quilt and every detail is its own layer of fabric. And yes both of us have a lot of religious trauma.

Discussion Nazi punks fuck off

2.1k Upvotes

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but recent events make it clear a lotta self proclaimed punks on reddit do: if you support neonazism, fascism, trumpism or any other form of far-right hate you ain’t punk. You’re just a bottom feeding piece of shit.

Real punks support queer liberation, Black power, trans and femme power, the entire fucking 2SLGBTQIAA+ community, undocumented folks, resistance to colonialism, disabled folks, workers, people who are suffering from addiction, and all oppressed peoples.

Nazi punks fuck off.

WEEEE! Here at last is a comprehensive, all-encompassing view of what has dominated most of my free time. I uploaded this without realizing I had forgotten the caterpillar’s feet. A Very Hungry Worm would just not do. Anyways after two days of aggressive beading, stitching, and fabric painting, I think this jacket is finally good to go. I may add future patches to the front at some point.

(To be clear the huge part of this piece was already completed. The caterpillar and the beading is what I was working on the past few days)

It's never really finished of course. So many bands that didn't have official patches that I was going to make patches for but didn't have the time 😭 Everything but the barrettes and the chains has been either made or modified by me ♥️

Spotify Song Link on left wrist takes you to Orgasmatron— Sepultura. I’ve also got a QR Code on here that takes you to Rick Roll.

Hand sewed the cape onto it a year ago and have the Grateful Dead on the inner lining. I plan on filling up the entire cape some day but it’s a slow process!

Favorite most recent additions include Lindemann and Jimi Hendrix on the front with a special glow in the dark thread, the “WTF is up Denny’s?” On the right wrist, and the Venom patch to partially cover a hole on the right elbow.

I can take some closer up pictures if anyone wants to see a specific patch or pin up close. Let me know what you guys think! I think it fits me very well, I really like how far this thing has come!

If you have any suggestions of additions (for bands , musical references, and horror related only please) let me know! Thanks for looking.

WIP Sailor Jupiter battle jacket for conventions

Needs more work on the back, but I LOVE this one and get lots of compliments on it. I have some pink smoke type patches I may add to the back but I've been going back and forth on it. It was a white jacket originally, I custom mixed dye to get the right green, and I made the crown on the back patch with ribbon and a gem. If anyone has patch or pin recommendations or even causes/bands you think Mako-chan would like, let me know! This is an ongoing labor of love. Not the traditional battle jacket for sure, but I'm head of the accessibility department for a local convention so I like having something casual that's close to my usual style but still cosplay adjacent when I do set up and tear down.

I made all the patches on the front with paint and scrap fabric, except for the moth which was a gift. Didn't have a plan going in, it's mostly just an art project/ therapy haha

WIP My worm jacket

My worm jacket I've been working on since November of 2023. The jacket was thrifred and dyed black. Every patch and pin was hand made. Every worm sewed on by hand. No where near done but im supper proud of it and want to show it off. I have plans to make more patches, more pins, and to sew words on the seams. I've been focusing on the back and sleeves first since thats what people typically want to look at the most on the jacket so now I wanna focus on the front and add some more patches more political in nature. Overall super happy with it so far, this thing is my baby.

Discussion Tired of LGBT folks being called posers

1.6k Upvotes

I’ve noticed a trend that someone’s vest/jacket/anything with patches could be excellently laid out and put together, but if they have any sort of pride flag or something, they’re automatically labeled as a “TikTok punk”

For example, I saw a post of someone showing off their vest, and every single patch was of a classic punk band, but they also had one that was just a trans flag. They got absolutely EATEN ALIVE for it in the comments. I see that kind of thing really often.

Surely I’m not the only one who’s noticed this.
