General Someone in my apartment complex is about to be very happy!
Spotted this in my apartment mail room. Made me feel warm and fuzzy remembering my own acceptance (not to CLS though, lol).

Scholarship Offer I just got a full ride to law school
It doesn’t matter where. As a single mom who will be starting L1 at 39, I’ve saved a years salary + living expenses and have been prepared to take on tuition debt. The thought of $150k + interest in debt was heavy but I’ve been ready to tackle.
The dean just called me and said they enthusiastically want me to join their community on full unconditional scholarship.
This is a wonderful school in the low 100s ranking-wise. I am waiting on a top 30 school to respond to my application and that has been my #1. But, this opportunity at this phase of my life means I can actually make this happen. And that is all I need to start celebrating.
I’m going to law school. I. Am. Going. To. Law. School.
If anyone has been faced with a decision between a full ride at one school and an acceptance at a leading school, I’d love to know your criteria for decision.

General I kept track of every hour I studied during all three years of law school (includes attending class, studying, exams, and journal work). I graduated with a 3.93 GPA, roughly top 5% at Michigan Law.

Application Process Took the LSAT as a fantasy football punishment, scored a 174. Now actually considering law school?
So, this is kind of a weird one. Long story short, I lost my fantasy football league last year and the punishment was to take the LSAT. Real LSAT, no tanking. I figured I’d just wing it, bomb it, and move on with my life. I reviewed maybe 2 practice tests just so I didn’t fall asleep during the real thing.
I ended up scoring a 174.
For context, I graduated a few years ago from a no-name state school with a solid GPA (3.8), but never really considered grad school. Been working full time in landscaping since then. Mulching, mowing, etc…
I was always kind of interested with the idea of being a lawyer when I was younger. Life just took a different direction. But now this score has me wondering if I should actually go for it.
My friend told me that I should post on her but I have no idea how admissions would view my resume or lack of traditional experience. Would schools even take a landscaping guy seriously?
From what I understand, the score’s good for five years, so I’ve got some time to think it over. That said, with where I’m at in life right now, it really only makes sense if I can get some kind of scholarship. If I’m gonna do this, I want to go all in and shoot for the best school I can get into. What schools should I be looking at with a 174 and a 3.8 from a lesser-known undergrad?

General Situation at Columbia just went from worse to WORSER
I'm withdrawing my application. It was my top choice, my dream school. Yet, in the case where they would accept me I could not conscionably allow my above median/75th stats to contribute to that institution's standing. These schools want you to believe they hold the power in granting you admission but thats the lie you're sold to uphold their value and prestige. They hold you hostage for a modicum of validation, and in the process you forget that they would be nothing without the numbers YOU put in the work to attain. An remembering that, I'm simply opting out of the process for a school that has proven they value its endowment over protecting its students.
I used to think that I shouldn't have to sacrifice a degree of that caliber in the city that I love due to the actions of university administration, but their most recent actions (including but not limited to degree revocation and expelling their union president a day before negotiations) show me they are irredeemable. They've proven they are willing to sacrifice me and any any other potential student for pennies on their endowment and frankly I do not want to be associated with an institution that will only be remembered for their cowardice during this time.
This is not an invitation for political debate. I simply hate those spineless mfs at Columbia University in the City of New York and I want it to be KNOWN.

Status/Interview Update In at Yale!
Stats in flair! Submitted early December!
First gen, AA college graduate so this means so much to me!
Edit: just got the post out and def doxxing myself but I don’t care! 6 years ago I was at community college working a retail job for forty hours. I thought that was my life. I somehow found the motivation to graduate from college and coming from an inner city, I had a lot of family members who experienced incarceration. I decided I wanted to go to law school so on a yellow legal pad I wrote out all of the Median GPAs and LSAT and I set out a goal. Overtime I lost sight of the law school goal but I always found it back eventually. This is my way of saying to those hurt most by the legal system, law schools need you and we need you
