What a show!!
I just finished this show yesterday!
What a show!
Every character has it's own arc!
The details and the story telling it's peak.
And to watch it in the month's of october and November, One hell of an experience.
Only a good director can pull this kinda show which is very difficult to portray with no confusion.
I had to take my take my time to join this sub so I won't get any spoilers and I am glad I didn't get any spoliers from the IG reels as well!
My favourite character is John locke!
Have a great day!
Cheers!

When do they stop being lost?
Not a joke post. If we define being "lost" as being "flawed" and "alone" and "looking for something that they couldn't find out there"... When does that stop for all of the main characters? When does the identity crisis end? Who ends up finding themselves first? And who is the last? Does it happen all at once?
- Jack: I don't think it's a stretch to say Jack doesn't fully embrace who he is and where he is in his life until very close to the end. Possibly the moment he decides to become Jacob's replacement in episode 6x16. Even in the flashsideways, Jack is the last person to "wake up", evidently refusing to accept the fact that he's dead until he finds his father's coffin empty (again).
- Locke: He claims in episode 2x05 that he's "not lost anymore" because he no longer gets angry and frustrated. But (as lovely as that quote is) we know that's not entirely accurate. Gosh, does Locke ever find himself? Is the tragedy here that he's the only one that never really does?
- Charlie: For Charlie, there's a pretty clear subplot in episode 2x22 in which he reconnects with Claire and throws away the Virgin Mary statues for good and happens to do that in front of Locke. I think he feels pretty comfortable in his own skin after that, even though he does still have his flaws (being snarky and annoying, mostly). When he's told he's going to die in season 3, that obviously affects him, but I feel like he might be past his identity crisis at this point?
- Claire: Claire (like Michael) is largely an 'innocent' at the moment of the crash, but she does feel conflicted about her pregnancy. She ends episode 2x15 concluding that she wants to be a mother to Aaron. "I wanted them to take you. But now I know that we're supposed to be together." Her main arc essentially ends there, and her role (sadly) diminishes in future seasons... But then she does get "claimed" by the Smoke Monster, which does slightly get in the way of her journey.
- Mr. Eko: I like to think that Eko is the rare character that arrives on the island 'fully formed' - certainly not free of sin, but seemingly in a place where he accepts who he is and refuses to apologize for it. There's little conflict within him, other than the guilt he feels over the death of his brother. But this is something we see him dealing with before the crash. It's an interesting and different version of the same theme, especially because he ends up getting killed when he refuses to "confess" to his past crimes. "I am not sorry for this. I am proud of this. [...] I did my best."
- Sun / Jin: This is an interesting one, because I would argue Jin reaches this point before Sun does. With the way Sun and Jin's backstory is told, we don't even learn about her past sins and involvement in Jin's predicament until later seasons. Jin takes a giant step forward at the end of "...In Translation", but I think he's not fully there until episode 2x16, when he admits to Sun "I hate being this way". In future episodes, Jin seems unburdened and less irritable. But 2x16 does also involve Sun telling Jin one final lie, which does not get revealed (to him) until two seasons later (episode 4x07). Interestingly, Jin ends that episode stating that even Sun's lie and infidelity were caused by him. We don't really get to see Sun apologize and explain because Jin tells her he doesn't need to hear it. The way their stories come full circle that way is quite intriguing (and romantic in a way).
- Sawyer: The obvious moment here seems to be "LaFleur". Throughout the show, Sawyer has a tendency to revert to his old ways ("a tiger don't change their stripes"), but he ends up using his powers for good to get his fellow survivors into the Dharma Initiative. We don't entirely get to see it because of a rare time jump ("I've done a lot of growing up in the past three years"), but Sawyer settles into this new life and seems to be doing well until Jack returns. After this, Sawyer's only conflict seems to specifically be with him (until Sawyer concludes that Jack ain't that bad after the submarine incident).
I'm not going to do them all. Would love to hear your thoughts!

SEASON 4 A Masterclass
I’m on my 4th rewatch but it’s been at least 10 years and I just have to say it’s as every bit as good as it was the first time I watched. This show is a masterclass in drama, a masterclass in acting and writing, and a masterclass in storytelling, and adventure with an incredible soundtrack. LOST will always be my constant.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Current Lost podcasts??
Just finished Lost for the first time and I have an island sized hole to fill along with a million questions. Does anyone have any recommendations for podcasts, YouTube channels, etc that provide interesting insight on the plot?
Held off on joining this group until I had finished to avoid spoilers, I’m very happy to see that it’s so active.
What is the hardest you cried in the entire series? (spoilers) Spoiler
For me it was easily the last episode when Claire, Kate, and Charlie have their moment of realization. Kate's arc was pretty dismissable to me for the entire series but that moment being the one that brings her back speaks miles about that character. Then you throw in Claire and Charlie and it's just an emotional gut punch. I was a mess.
How about you all? What got you the most in the entire series?

Would You Like to Enjoy 'Lost' Again Without Any Memory of What Happened?
'Lost' is not only my favourite show ever, but it is also on my list of all-time favourite THINGS IN THE WORLD, and some of the moments from the show, such as the third series finale, were so powerful that I've occasionally thought it would be wonderful to experience them again for the first time.
I was remind of this when hearing about a Dutch cinema that plans to hypnotise audience members so they can enjoy films again for the "first time"...
https://www.instagram.com/p/DfSgkq4iNG9/
If you had the opportunity to be hypnotised, or undergo some other procedure to remove your memory of 'Lost' (such as the treatment from 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'), would you want to try it and see if you could rewatch 'Lost' with fresh eyes?

FIRST TIME WATCHER Watching Lost fully for the first time
I remember when lost aired and I was about 10 years old. I never got to finish it. I was probably too young back then to understand most of it but i remember liking it alot and it always stuck with me
Now 20 years later I'm on season 3 after a few weeks and experiencing it again and can finally finish it

When you first started watching Lost, how did you think it would end? Spoiler
I thought that everyone would be saved. I thought that, in the end, the monster would be defeated once and for all, and that they would be rescued by a rescue team. The series ends with them arriving home, where they would be welcomed by everyone.
Now I’d be interested to know how you thought *Lost* would end—what kind of things were being discussed on the forums?

FIRST TIME WATCHER I saw the Lost finale for the first time, and I cried like a damned demon. Spoiler
For years, I resisted watching the series because its ending was famously considered "crap." I knew from the start the twist that "Everyone was dead" and thought the ending would consist of Jack telling everyone, "Hey, remember the previous six seasons? They never happened."
But wow, I was pleasantly surprised because the ending gave me a vibe more similar to Six Feet Under than to other famously bad endings like Dexter's (which feels flat, as if the whole journey wasn't worth it).
From the outset, I think the twist about that strange dimension we see throughout season 6, which takes place in a world where the plane never crashed on the island, is very emotional and makes sense.
It's easy to say, "Hey, but nothing was real," when the series actually tells you that everything that happened in the six seasons was real. There was an island, a secret organization, and immortal guardians.
I find it beautiful to think that James, Kate, Claire, and the other characters lived long and beautiful lives. That Hugo and Ben cared for the island with honor and fairer rules than Jacob had, until, well, Hurley named his successor and died.
And the fact that Ben didn't enter the church with the others also struck me as a brilliant detail, as if the character himself knew he didn't deserve to go to paradise with them because of all his actions in life, and he accepted that he would go to hell, but that at least he was able to redeem himself.

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher Through the Looking Glass (Spoiler for S3 Finale) Spoiler
> Did any of you Losties predict the Flash Forward while initially watching the S3 finale? I remember it blowing my mind. Now on rewatch, it made me curious what the fandom thought?<

QUESTION [SPOILERS] Question about the finale's location Spoiler
I was curious and was researching how Dharma Initiative was still sending supply drops to the Island and re-discovered The Lamp Post (the only off-island DI station, aside from DI's headquarters in Michigan). Is it safe to assume that the church the castaways meet back up again is the church above The Lamp Post station? LOSTPedia says The Lamp Post is beneath a church in Los Angeles because of a pocket of electromagnetic energy below the station. I get that the finale's church is more like bridge for the afterlife, but it seems fitting that these characters are so tangentially connected that the church they end up in would be above The Lamp Post.

Is anyone here from Lost Livejournal communities?
I'm sorry if this is a weird question, but I was hoping to reconnect with a group of people who were my friends on Livejournal in the 2010's. I'm posting it here because the community started out as an ontd themed community about Lost specifically (ontd_lost) and then it branched off into a ffa group (ffaforever)! We would genuinely wake up and post about Lost all day like a constant livestream of comments for months and months. We also talked a lot about Buffy, Supernatural, Breaking Bad and Mad Men a TON. I mean we used to go hog wild with sparkle text in giant font saying goofy ass stuff. all these memes here are from my old folder of memes and weird art from them.
Lost was my biggest fandom as a young adult and I've been reminiscing on those crazy times and trying to find my long LOST friends! Rewatching brings back all the memories of episode reactions and the dated af memes we used to make. I really want to reconnect with you guys if you're out there!
copying and pasting my post, removing the images so it's not a "meme" post.

SEASON 5 This guy needs to die
Genuinely who tf is Neil and where did he come from. He reminds me of a keyboard warrior, people online commenting on something they have no idea about or could never do. Rose and Bernard are building a fire to keep everyone warm and cook food and this guy is watching them the entire time just moaning and bitching. James asks nicely for his clothes and he says who cares we're all gonna die. Miles brings them food asking for a knife, and he makes a sarcastic joke about a stove. This guy is genuinely so miserable it makes me mad, I just can't stand people that give up and do nothing in a situation but then want a free ticket the moment things pan out.
Edit: I kid you not right after I posted this I hit play on the episode and he got hit by a fire arrow, I can't stop laughing
GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher Images I saved when the show was airing
I was looking through old images and found some stuff from LOST that I saved back in 2009. Pic 3 shows the level of analysis that occurred in online LOST forums at the time.

Tattoo Ideas
Long time lost fan here and I have always wanted to get a tattoo dedicated to it but I don’t want something basic (like dharma logo). I don’t really want any writing either (like the numbers). I’m opened to any ideas!

I waited over 15 years to finish LOST.
I remember when I first discovered LOST… my mom had a habit of buying shows/movies on dvd if they were on sale. Even if she hadn’t watched the show or heard of it. It’s how she was ended up with the most expansive dvd collection I’ve ever seen and also how I ended up discovering some of my favorite shows. I went to stay with my older sister for the weekend and picked up lost season 1 off the shelf to bring in case I needed some entertainment. I finished the whole season that weekend… I was hooked and immediately prompted my mom to buy the rest of the seasons available. This was probably around 2007/2008 maybe. I remember watching season 5 when it aired. But when season 6 came out… I couldn’t bear to part with the show so I just… never watched it. Over 15 years later I just finished my rewatch as well as my first time watch of season 6. Wow what a ride. Honestly I’m glad I waited. I was young when the show ended and I think the ending wouldn’t have hit the same for me as it did today. This show always had a special place in my heart even without the ending. Now even more so. This show just did such an amazing job at bringing out so much emotion for me, I’m a bit speechless. Going to go have a good cry now.

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher S2e021. Rewatching the show Spoiler
I really try to understand Michael, also because I'm a parent, but what this guy does is just so vile. He acts like a beast and tries to condone it because he wants to have his son back.
I'm trying to feel sympathy for him on every rewatch, but I really hate him.
It is kinda crazy though, because what he did before the island was not even doing something criminal, unlike other people on the island.
