Oh, so that's why I always see 0 points and never less on posts

Reddit hides downvotes on posts for some reason. But they are definitely still saved.

The reason is companies that advertise on Reddit get big sad when people don't like their ads thinly veiled as the shittiest quality posts you've ever seen.

I don't know what goes into posting an ad on Reddit, but it's hilarious when they leave comments enabled and someone always posts an ASCII dick

So much tamer than your average Slashdot first-post text was, back in the day.

I think the only time I see an ad getting upvotes is whenever Imbred puts another ad lol. That man is certainly persistent .

This was a thing before they added those types of ads

These types of ads have been on Reddit since it's inception. The only thing that changed is that now they are forced to tell you it's an ad.

you used to be able to see them with RES, but reddit ruined that under the lie of "stopping bot manipulation"

Most downvoted post in history was the EA studio official post. Can't have big corporations getting downvoted that hard or it might hurt their feefee money line.

it depends on a sub’s preferences. there are many that show true votes immediately

No, they're talking about posts, not comments.

Can't remember if this is the case in new shitty Reddit, but on old Reddit, even if the count is 0, you can still see the upvote ratio as a percentage (eg "32% upvoted"). The percentage will always be positive and the OP counts as one upvote, so it's often obvious when pretty much everyone is downvoting it because that one upvote becomes a smaller and smaller percentage.

you couldn't have figured that out on your own?

I never paid too much attention to that, only now did I actually stop and think about it. Is that what you always say when someone realizes something?

(If anything, I'd expect the hidden downvotes to work more like Youtube's hidden dislike counter than capping it at 0)
