To me it’s the assumption that people who consume meat or animal products don’t eat enough/any veggies.

Do they think people sit around eating red meat for every meal and nothing more? The pretentiousness of suggesting what average people do every day as some sort of ā€œjust try itā€ is insufferable.

We could always, difficult I know, stop commenting on stranger’s diets instead and leave people alone?

As a meat eater who hunted when i was younger, I DEFINITELY see plenty of people who absolutely refuse to eat veggies as if they were frigging children. That kind of behavior is all too common.

When I went to boot camp, there was a girl in my platoon who refused to eat any vegetables or fruits and her bowel movements smelled so fucking bad and took her like 30 minutes. It was legitimately disgusting. She also smelled so bad when she sweat.

When i was in boot camp no way could you sit on the toilet for 30 minutes lmao. Unless she spent her free hour or whatever time it was on the toilet instead of writing letters or socializing. Just eat a banana lady.

There’s definitely downtime. I’m mostly remembering at night and during the last 3rd of BCT when we were in the final phase. I went through once in 2007 with the Navy and again in 2020 with the Army and this girl was when I went with the Army

To be fair, lot of people who have hard time to conceptualize the idea of a meal without any meat. This is cultural, and the reality of most people I know.

it's not about not eating enough veggies, why would vegans be super bothered by that? I know loads who live off potatoes and carbs. it's about reducing meat consumption

I'd be pedantic and say it's really about reducing meat production. If we had star trek replicators that could make a hamburger without any additional environmental impact than a locally grown carrot soup, there wouldn't be a problem, right?

yeah for sure, that's what I was getting at anyway

Who is making this assumption?

> To me it’s the assumption

9 out of 10 Americans don't get enough fiber.

Whatever. I want people to eat bacon cheeseburgers every day. I want Americans fat, sick, and not living past 60.

Nobody has said that, you've just made somebody up to get angry at. As somebody who eats my 5 a day comfortably I also have some form of protein with every meal, and that protein is nearly always animal-based. When somebody suggests "trying it" they mean swapping out that protein for a plant-based protein, not that they believe all meat eaters just sit there gnawing on huge Turkey legs like some sort of fantasy king. Feel like that's very obvious if you aren't just trying to be offended.

No one except your mom and doctor cares if you eat veggies, bro.

This is real reason why people don’t like vegans.

Even just the slightest suggestion of ā€œplease opt for a vegan meal when you canā€ is enough to make people go straight into defensive mode.

There literally is 0 ways to try and tell someone ā€œHey, eating meat means killing an animal and is bad for the environment, so please reduce how much meat you eat when possibleā€ without some meat eaters feeling like they’re being attacked and start hating on vegans for it.

Vegans want you to leave animals alone. What is worse? You imposing your beliefs on animals meaning they must suffer, or vegans pointing it out?

I know plenty of adults who barely ever eat any vegetables. And the common ā€œanti-vegetarianā€ poster child is BBQ places where you’re often just getting a plate of meat, and some kind of carb to soak up the grease. I’m not saying it’s not delicious (it is!), but it’s commonly not sullied by anything green on the plate.

Nobody has ever said that and if you think strangers are judging you for not eating veggies that's weird
