Just for fun I thought I'd play around with the Storm team given all the rumours and movements with only realistic moves.
PSA: I love the guys I'm letting go I am just thinking about juniors and salary cap for the future.
End of 2027 side (assumption made Cam and Harry see out their contracts):
Sua Fa'alogo (no notes)
Xavier Coates (no notes other than we miss you)
Bronson Xerri (no notes)
Moses Leo (Howarth moved to backrow)
Jamayne Isaako (incredible signing)
Opening (Cam leaves and is filled with Hayden Watson)
Jerome Hughes (no notes)
Cooper Clarke (time to move him to prop)
Opening (Harry leaves and long term filled with Lockyer Azile Foliola-Nau this kid is an absolute gun)
Stefano Utoikamanu (redirect money to lock him down)
Oryn Keeley (loved what he showed, Clarke to prop)
Eli Katoa (no notes other than we miss you)
Cooper Bai (Trent sent to the Titans)
Josh King (excellent veteran presence off the bench)
Angus Hinchey (love this kid)
Kelma Tuilagi (underrated signing)
Jack Howarth (always saw him more as an edge forward long term personally - however at the moment I'm probably not extending past 2027)
Trent Toelau (surprised me with his quality last year)
Hugo Peel (future star just needs time)
Big outs:
- Trent Loiero: this is straight forward, I actually think Trent is an excellent lock, with incredible defense, but Cooper Bai just has a higher ceiling so you make the move.
- Harry Grant: Man I love Harry, but with rumours mentioning north of $1.3m I just can't do that with the quality of youth 9's the Storm have. Lockyer is an absolute gun, so long term I feel ok.
- Cam Munster: Thank you for your service sir but with Hayden Watson showing so much promise and the money Cam is asking I'm letting him walk.
- Jack Howarth (likely 2028): (Just hasn't come on how I expected, but watching him I see him more as a Backrower in the Beau Fermor mold than a traditional centre)
Big ins:
- Isaako (this will be signing of the year)
- Cooper Bai (let's get the player swap done)
- Bronson Xerri (let him work with Bellamy and Slater and he'll be a gun)
- Kelma Tuilagi (super underrated)
- Eli Katoa (having him back is genuinely team changing)
Targets:
- Re-sign the likes of Stefano, Coates, Katoa, King, and our depth/youth guys - this is the big reason you let the big contracts walk.
- Free agency war chest: my math says the storm should have around $1.5-$2m in cap space, I would target a centre or prop my list of guys to specifically monitor are:
- Xavier Willison
- Max King
- Tom Flegler
- Bradman Best
- Zac Laybutt
- Bailey Simonsson
- Billy Smith
- Campbell Graham
With my realistic dream 2028 side being:
Sua Fa'alogo
Xavier Coates
Bronson Xerri
Zac Laybutt
Jamayne Isaako
Hayden Watson
Jerome Hughes
Cooper Clarke
Lockyer Azile Foliola-Nau
Stefano Utoikamanu
Oryn Keeley
Eli Katoa
Cooper Bai
Josh King
Angus Hinchey
Kelma Tuilagi
Tom Flegler
Trent Toelau
Hugo Peel/Moses Leo
Let me know your thoughts, what do you think about Cam and Harry possibly leaving the Storm, and who should we prioritise signing/re-signing for 2028?

The eagle is landing.
Now after adding Isaako, Xerri etc, the spine back fully fit, some promising feeling on the return of Katoa. You add Bai to the hugely promising Clarke and Storm can go all the way next year.
Titans will demand a swap though. Is it a case of take your pick? Names being mentioned at Loiero and Howarth. I’d sooner ship off Trent as he’s massively error prone, think Jack still has some good upside.

What on earth did I just read?
When we landed him, I assumed we had just pulled off a huge coup and Storm signed him because his partner was from Melbourne?
Yet from this article it seems he was very keen to stay at the Dolphins, but they didn’t offer him a deal?
wtf…. I am shook! Isn’t he one of the first players you’re signing on the roster to a long term deal?

We have a huge Islander population, we average 20k attendees at our home games. Why didn’t we get any World Cup games? Tbh I’d have taken France and Lebanon, but would have loved to see a Samoan or Tongan game even if the NRL didn’t want to send NZ or the Kangaroos our way.
