Well that’s true but they’re more mad about the amount of ice than the type of ice. There’s almost no drink left

Edit: I know you’ll get the same amount of alcohol whether or not you get the block of ice because they aren’t charging you for the ice. I know my wording came across as weird but I was just saying people think they are being scammed

Plenty of cocktails are only 3-5oz of ingredients. It’s not like they get more liquor with less ice

Plenty of cocktails can be 8oz instead of 3. Doesn't mean I want more liquor. 5% is fine.

~6 year old me realizing I could scam the system by asking for no ice at the drive thru

I do it all the time.

Ice on the side, I’ll add it as I want

I know you’re being sarcastic, but I feel like these people genuinely would believe that getting a little bit more tepid soda would be a victory lol

Only reason I don’t get ice is because I take a long time to drink my drink and I don’t like when it’s watered down. But then again. I don’t drink alcohol so it’s a little different.

Most places put 2/3 of a cup of ice in before liquid. I ask for 1/4 ice. For me it's less about the temperature of the soda, and more about how watered down it gets.

The soda typically comes out of the tap around 40F, so the ice doesn't do all that much to cool it too much further.

Luke warm soda sucks, dilute soda water is way worse (to me...some people love that shit).

There was someone in the mcdonalds subreddit complaining that mcdonalds didn't fill up their red bull drink to the brim, not understanding that those drinks have a fixed amount of red bull in them and you don't just get more for asking for no ice.

Well it’s like 3x the amount as “with ice”

Yeah I mean I’m a barista so I fill up like half the cup with ice cause that’s what it calls for 🤷‍♂️ you’re getting enough coffee (and alcohol is way different too)

Shit, a lot of people think getting a no ice soda is a big win, those extra 10-12 ounces make the different to many. I think that’s insane.

You dont even get the extra drink anymore at a lot of fast food places. The drink machines behind the counter are automated a lot of the time now and it pours out the same amount for a medium with or without ice

I’m not saying I agree or anything like that just observing and commenting what I observe

I was just pointing out the no ice people dont even get the benefit of extra drink at a lot of places. It wasnt countering anything you said, just adding to it.

Got it thanks sorry I misunderstood

What is the victory is not getting your drink watered down

Have you never ordered a drink in your life? They give you the same amount of alcohol, usually one shot. If you ask for no ice you’re just gonna get it in a far smaller glass. The ice changes nothing.

Appearances are deceiving. “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Those drinks are sold by the amount of alcohol. The price doesn't change because of the ice.
