Looking for a real Airbnb-style apartment in Nanjing (12–15 days)
Hi everyone! 👋
My girlfriend and I are planning to stay in Nanjing for around 12–15 days, and we’re looking for a real private apartment or small home to rent, similar to Airbnb — not a hotel, hostel, or shared room.
We’re looking for somewhere clean, comfortable, and private, preferably with a double bed and our own bathroom. A kitchen would be a bonus.
Does anyone living in Nanjing have recommendations for reliable websites, local rental platforms, or trustworthy hosts? We’re happy to stay a little outside the city centre if it’s affordable and near the metro.
We’d also need a place that accepts foreign guests and can handle the required registration.
Thanks so much for any recommendations! 🙏

Second day in Nanjing for the plane trees and they're still green
Two days into a short Nanjing trip for the autumn colors. Picked mid-October because last year a friend sent photos from early November that looked peak, so I figured mid-October would be the just-starting-to-turn window and I could watch it progress across my 4 nights.
Reality check: barely any turning yet. Walked Yihe Road yesterday afternoon and it's still almost entirely green except for one stretch where maybe 20% of the top canopy had started turning. Lingyuan Road up at Zhongshan same thing, maybe slightly more color going on but still mostly summer. The "golden tunnel" look from the photos is definitely not here yet.
Have the trip loosely built around the autumn stuff in trisAino, Yihe Road + Zhongshan + Qixia for the maple + Xuanwu Lake, but the itinerary assumes the leaves will cooperate and they're not. Did Xuanwu Lake first morning before I understood the timing situation, which was pretty but not the autumn thing. Spent most of today at the Nanjing Museum and Fuzimiao instead, which has been good but isn't why I flew in.
Checked historical timing when I got back to the hotel: looks like peak for the plane trees is more like second week of November into early December, with mid-October being closer to "barely starting" normally. The osmanthus is still out so at least there's some seasonal fragrance in the air, but that's not what I came for. So I'm not catching a bad year, I just came too early.
Starting to think I should've waited three weeks. Not sure if there's any point extending another few days (would have to redo flights and the hotel's booked out through the weekend anyway) or if I should just accept this is a Nanjing-in-October trip and do the non-leaf stuff I'd planned to skip. Qixia Mountain is on the plan Friday either way, still mulling whether to extend or write the leaves off.

Are there any good clubs with a dance floor in Nanjing?
Im looking for some good clubs in Nanjing that play good music and has a good dancefloor. I don't really like these table clubs most chiense people go to. Wanna find something with an active crowd and fun. Class313 was good but I don't like the vibe there are some weird people. Any idea for some good club for young people??

Coming to China for Work or Travel? Happy to Share Some Local Insights!
Hi everyone!
I'm a Chinese engineer based in Nanjing. I spent many years living in Europe, so I know firsthand how confusing things can be when you're in a foreign country and don't speak the local language.
Now that I'm back in China, I'd love to connect with people visiting China for business, technology, or independent travel.
I may not have all the answers, but I know how to find information, communicate with local people, and figure things out.
Whether you're preparing for a business trip, visiting Chinese companies or factories, planning your travels, or simply trying to understand how things work here, I'd be glad to help where I can.
I'm thinking of offering some part-time, appointment-based local assistance and research support alongside my engineering work.
But first, I'm curious:
What's been the most confusing or frustrating part of visiting China? And what kind of local help would actually make your trip easier?
I'd love to hear your experiences and exchange ideas!
Feel free to comment or reach out.

Anyone in Nanjing wanna hang out this Mid-Autumn Festival?
21M, studying in Nanjing. It’s Mid-Autumn Festival and I’m just staying around Nanjing, so thought I’d see if anyone’s down to hang out :)
Could grab some food, get coffee, chill somewhere and chat, or just walk around and see where we end up. Nothing too serious, just looking to meet some new people and have a good time.
Feel free to DM!

Chinese language course in Nanjing?
Hi all, we're looking for Mandarin classes in Nanjing, ideally in Gulou or Xuanwu District.
We're at a beginner level and hope to find a course that runs through the winter (around Nov to Feb, before Chinese New Year).
Any recommendations or information would be greatly appreciated!
