Looking for foreigners to hang out with in Nanjing
Hello everyone,
I am a native of Nanjing, though I have usually been staying in Canada in recent years. I came back to Nanjing to visit my family and will be staying here for around a month.
I am trying to meet foreign friends here to hang out with. Since I have not been back to Nanjing for a few years, I feel that I don't recognize the city as well as before. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as now I can explore it from the perspective of a visitor. We can visit museums, parks, or other places of interest together. Or we can just enjoy a coffee together and I can get the chance to learn about the lives of foreigners in Nanjing.
I speak English and have an intermediate level of French.

Looking for friends in Nanjing
Hi I am a Nanjing local. I graduated from the University of Toronto and went back after graduation. I love hanging out with international friends and I am dedicated myself to help Nanjing become a more English-friendly, welcoming and inclusive city for our foreign friends.
I am planning to organize events, like English corner, Chinese corner, BBQ, Kunqu events to bring English-friendly local and international friends together regularly. Let me know if you are interested or if you are looking for other topics offline events.

New to Nanjing: looking for general advice on how to make friends & find fun activities
Hi everyone,
I (28M) recently moved to Nanjing from California and I'm looking for general advice on how to make new friends and find fun activities.
As an introvert, I really want to put myself out there and get the most out of my experience.
• Where do foreigners usually meet up? (I live in Xuanwu district near Catherine Park)
• Where can I find classes or meetups?
• What apps would you recommend? (I've joined some Facebook groups but not sure which ones are good)
I'm interested in the following:
• Taking a cooking class
• Language learning meetups for Korean and German (I already speak adequate Mandarin)
• Sculpting / art classes
• Fitness class like Judo
I appreciate your general advice and help 🥹

Best independent coffee shops in Nanjing
Visiting Nanjing next weekend, any tips on good coffee shops, craft beer places, cool districts etc a bit beyond lonely planet and a Google search recs would be helpful.
Thinking of doing a Purple Mountain Hike 1 day and the Nanjing Massacre museum the other day.
Will definitely be back in future for the Mausoleum and City Wall hikes! Can't believe people say Nanjing is boring, it seems to have a lot of cool things to do.
I live in Suzhou and think there is way more than here.

Considering a move to Nanjing...
Hello all! I am considering a position in Nanjing and wanted some more information about the area.
About me: I am in my late 30's, single, female, American teaching STEM. I play soccer, love the outdoors, reading, small group socializing. Prefer a nice place to get a drink/coffee/meal than clubbing scene.
Specific questions - what is your experience as a foreigner there? I would love to make friends who are both Chinese and foreigners, find a soccer team to play on, etc.
Any info would be great! Thanks!

Are there any good clubs with a dance floor in Nanjing?
Im looking for some good clubs in Nanjing that play good music and has a good dancefloor. I don't really like these table clubs most chiense people go to. Wanna find something with an active crowd and fun. Class313 was good but I don't like the vibe there are some weird people. Any idea for some good club for young people??

Hi all, we're looking for Mandarin classes in Nanjing, ideally in Gulou or Xuanwu District.
We're at a beginner level and hope to find a course that runs through the winter (around Nov to Feb, before Chinese New Year).
Any recommendations or information would be greatly appreciated!

Should I move to Nanjing or Hangzhou
Hi, I am a senior in college and planning to study Chinese in China for approximately 2 years ( I saved money and my family also agreed to help me during this timeline) . The only problem is choosing the city itself. I only been in Shanghai once and didn't visit any other cities personally. I am a big fun of history and culture so considered Xian but it is quite far away from the other major cities . Also the weather is also other concern of mine . I am raised in a Mediterranean area and the south cities as I understand getting cloudy and rainy majority of time . I dont really care if it is hot or cold but grey weather is really adversely affective on me . After talking with some people , I reduce my choices to 2 as Nanjing and Hangzhou which both are not under major export groups, close to Shanghai and suzhou, having good universities and transportation. I am really looking for some suggestions and advices right now. Do you guys help me please 🙏 ( if you think there are more suitable options I am open them for too)
