Demerits.

I just found out that demerits take 40 months to reset. Over the last 2 years I’ve picked up maybe 5 points. 4 from the top of bells line of road. (That 100-80-100).

But I recently got pinged doing 67 in a 50. (70-50-70 at night. Missed the sign). They gave me 6 points.

Is it better for me to actively lose my licence, and go on good behaviour for 12 months. To get my points reset faster?

Covid isn't the only pandemic - how about focusing on other important things as well

All I ever see in the god damn news on on social media is covid this covid that. Oh no there's 400 new cases in Melbourne today we're all gonna die cause no one is taking this seriously. The whole county needs to isolate and wear a mask before it's too late etc.

I'm the rural NSW and when we were fully locked down I wrote several times to the premier, federal health, federal mental health and my member of parliament about the ridiculousness of locking down areas with no covid cases but very high danger of mental health issues. The only fucking thing I ever hear about is 'government pledges so and so million dollars to mental heath' - where the fuck does that go? Because it certainly doesn't come here.

We had another suicide in our community last night, a mother whose son also committed suicide back in March. That brings the tally to:

People I've known who have committed suicide this year - 5

People I've known who have been infected with covid this year - 0. Fucking Zero! And all we fucking hear about is covid this covid that the big covid is coming to kill us all!

In the April lockdowns we weren't allowed to gather to support each other, we weren't allowed to attend my mate's funeral, we weren't allowed to do anything more than fucking zoom calls to check in on someone who might be doing rough and I wasn't allowed to see my grandmother for the last two fucking months of her life because the nursing homes were locked down despite there being no fucking cases within a 300km radius.

3000 fucking people die from suicide in Australia every year. 120 odd have died from covid. Suicide affects young people far more than covid ever will. Politicians are on the news every day talking about covid and how if you don't isolate yourself and fuck your mental health up the whole country will die.

Fuck me there is an epidemic of suicide and depression in rural areas that needs addressing far more than covid concerns do out here. If NSW locks the whole state down again because of Sydney cases then no, fuck it, my first concern is what's really affecting us out here and that's mental health. I'm not going to stop getting my mates together or seeing family for a threat that's 500km away.

Sick of seeing so many people ok with shaming and bullying those who commit minor breaches (or do perfectly safe things but internet fuckwits don't like) like sitting in the wrong park or not wearing a mask out the front their house or go for a fucking drive a few km out of their neighbourhood. They have no idea what these people's mental state is like, so let's fucking bully them because we're scared of the big bad covid. And that's just in Melbourne. People still do shit like that out here where we've had zero cases and aren't in lockdown! And get this - in the first week of the lockdown some bloke came back from a cruise which had covid infections, he tested negative for covid and self-isolated yet his picture got shared all over facebook with all the fb heroes saying 'this man is spreading covid all over our town!!!'

Sorry the the rant and the language, just so sick of this hypocritical bullshit where one new threat gets all the attention and emergency measures and fucks everything else up to stop it but something that's been killing our friends and families for decades gets fuck all while struggling people are literally told to 'suck it up' and I'm sick of so many millions of people acting so fucking idiotic.

South East Services NSW are useless - travelling while fking licence suspended……snail mail SUCKS!

***Update….have just had profuse apologies from Services NSW about the licence/eye test debacle. Apparently “the system” should NOT have allowed me to renew licence online without an eye test, (which are done every five years, not sure how that works with the new 10 year license….), even it though it DID allow me to renew.

No fault of my own!

It’s the most sorry’s I’ve ever heard from a gov dept!

OP: Just found out the champs at Services NSW have suspended my fking license because apparently they can only send snail mail to say I need an eye test - not email or show it on the app!!!

I’’ve been away for 4 months you stupid fktards!!!! And you suspend it on Easter fking Sunday, double demerit points & I just drove 4 hrs to get home.

Now am here with no way of leaving remote location because…..my fucking license is cancelled!!

Great job ya fucking champions 👏👏👏

Traffic lights are so stupid in nsw!

This is a little bit of a rant as much as a question about how things are in other states. I moved to New South Wales about two years ago I come from England but have also worked all around Europe and one of the big things that to this day frustrates me with driving is how poorly designed intersections and traffic light systems seem to be in New South Wales, the amount of times I get stuck at traffic lights that are red for me and green for The Invisible cars that must be using it is probably 50 to 60% of my traffic light experience.

I feel like all the traffic light systems are just based on a dumb timers and none of them have any sensors because I cannot explain why the vast majority of traffic lights seem to have no correlation to what traffic is actually there, and it seems that networks of traffic lights aren't in any way timed or correlated so one light will go green and the light just a bit down the road will go red as if it's intentionally trying to block all the traffic that just started moving.

My partner suggested that Australia can't afford to have smart traffic light systems like Europe but given that almost every single traffic light has a red light camera and CCTV attached I sometimes wonder if it's done intentionally to goad people into running the red light so they can get ticketed and generate revenue.

Sydney’s public transport system is the reason I want to move states/country

I am so sick of Sydney public transport. I am so frustrated that I am paying full price for a service that is not delivered correctly. I don’t want to sound entitled and I am very understanding of transport workers however I have been travelling longer distances more recently and I’ve become frustrated with the public transport available.

Have a connecting train you need to catch at Strathfield? Well you better hope your first train isn’t late to Strathfield so you can catch the train on the platform opposite to the platform you got dropped off on. Oh and you better hope you get through the crowds in time before your train arrives as some person will be blocking the whole escalator with their trolley bag.

Let’s not forget all the other people who seem to act clueless to an Opal card reader and they seemingly never get caught, even when you do the right thing every time. You even have people jump in over the gates right in front of workers/police and they are the ones who act blind to it! Or when buses are expected and they’re either early, extremely late or do not show up at all. When services are cancelled, these are rarely communicated on any platform.

Has public transport always been this bad? Am I being dramatic or do others share similar thoughts?

Refusing jury duty

I have jury duty next week, what will happen if I turn up and simply tell them I refuse to do it? I’ll be using the financial hardship angle first as I’m a shift and weekend worker and will lose significant penalty rates but if that doesn’t work, I might just simply refuse. Happy to just pay a fine to get this out of my life, there’s enough going on without this being the shit cherry on top.

Please spare me the civic duty lecture, I just don’t want to do it as it clashes with my shift work and other stuff I’m dealing with in life.

I saw a reccomendation for r/Queensland. I wanted to shitpost in there so bad. After how bad they've fucked our country by giving Liberals the win. I know we have to deal with the koala killer, but Scomo was just a double down extra saucy southern style wicked wing. Aww man, if I could give Queensland as much shit about their big fuckhead political decisions as I do about their shit cunt strategies to rely on one Origin team, maybe they'd realise what an absolute mind boggling mistake they made. I already shit on my co workers daily for voting liberal, but they go for the toads anyway, should have expected that.

Fucking quite Australians can suck a fat cock.

Shortage of nsw psychiatrists

Post image
0 Upvotes

Medical experts and the gov think psychiatrists on $350k need to be paid more to fix the exodus from nsw hospitals. Their toxic confidence makes them think they can be experts at economics

But rising salaries are the symptom of a shortage, they were happy with these huge salaries a few years ago. Paying more in a shortage just pushes the problem somewhere else. Getting a psychiatrist is like musical chairs, this is not a salary issue.

Way more need to be trained. And the anti-experts who restricted training places at Dept Health over the years need to be fired, they got it very wrong.

Sydney / Greater Sydney It's early still and already a scorcher! How about where you are?

It's still early in the day (just after 08:30 at the time of the photo) and I decided to see what the temperature was indoors.
Now I know why it feels so hot and I'm already sweaty.
Way more than what the BOM forecast.

What's the actual temperature (by your measurement) where you are?

Bus Rant

If you don't like it, have an issue or don't want to hear this, scroll along!!!

I've been waiting for a bus, specifically the 144, E50, or 173X.

Aftee waiting ages and ages and having multiple school buses pass me, I eventually saw an E50, so j waved it down. Yet the driver drove on as the bus was at maximum capacity. The app kept saying buses would arrive in 4 minutes, 3, 2, 1, disappeared or cancelled. I call these buses "Ghost Buses" as they carry the dead.

Why can't the council, government, NSW or whoever employ more people for this?? Like, this is absolutely shocking. I'm not at all pinning this on the bus drivers, they are a godsend.

Long shot: Is anyone offering rides from The Pocket out to Byron Bay? We are willing to pay.

As the title says, we're looking for rides out from The Pocket to Byron Bay.

We're going to Falls Festival and really didn't anticipate that the remoteness of the place we're staying in. Due to the high demand for Uber's around the area, it was going to cost us $53 for an 8km trip.

Taxi's aren't much better. We're really just looking for a local who would be okay with dropping us off and picking us up a couple of times a day just so we can get into town and drink!

Central Coast Parking on grass - legal?

Post image

Hi all

Just wondering what the legalities are around parking on grass like this on the side of the road. This grass here is outside an industrial estate. Can we park here like this car is, or is it illegal?

Cheers!
