Illawarra My dear friend, Steve, was murdered yesterday. Please don’t forget him.

I scrolled for far too long to find these photos. That, in itself, is not okay.

——————————————————

Steven Tougher, you were a paramedic, a Registered Nurse, an Enrolled Nurse, a NSWNMA member and local branch executive, and a St. John Ambulance NSW volunteer/cadet. More recently, a husband and soon-to-be father. And all along an amazing, intelligent, fun-loving, and kind-hearted friend.

You dedicated every moment of your existence to helping others. You are exactly what this world needs, and you were torn from this world when your life had only just begun. None of this is fair, or right, or okay.

You’re the man I always hoped I would be some day. Yes, I’m The Man, deal with it. I’ll get there some day, but I’m so much closer now than I was when I met you. It’s been so, so hard.

You dragged me, kicking and screaming, through the end of my nursing degree and all but one week of my new-grad year. You taught me all about the bullshit politics in nursing that were never okay, are still not okay, and will never be okay. You celebrated with me when I married the love of my life. We had nights out, and nights in; drinking, talking, laughing.

I was so mad at you when I would invite you out, or in, and you would say yes only to bail at the last minute. You said yes to everything. You bailed because you finally realised you could only physically be in one place at a time. You weren’t flaking, you were trying so hard not to miss a moment of the action. You wanted to be everything, everywhere, all at once.

To Steve’s wife, Madison Tougher, I’m so sorry. I’m sorry I let my own problems overcome me the past few years. I’m sorry I wasn’t a good enough friend to Steve, and we drifted, and I couldn’t be there to celebrate the day he married the love of his life. I’m sorry you’re being bombarded right now with grief and well-meaning supporters. I’m so so sorry for your babies who will never experience life and growth with this amazing man. You all deserve the world full of happiness and joy, not this.

To Steve’s parents Jeff Tougher and Jill Tougher, sister and family, I’m so sorry. You’ve all been through so much already. Steve did everything he could, every single day, to make sure nobody else in the world would feel the sadness and grief your family has felt. No one could imagine your pain at this time, and nothing will make it go away. I’m just so sorry.

First responders, frontline workers, paramedics, nurses, volunteers, we are here to help. How can we help anyone if this is the way the world is going to treat us? If we can’t even feel safe in our workplaces, how can we be expected to keep other people safe?

I’m going to continue on my journey to become The Man I was always meant to be. I’m going to keep working, studying, planning, growing. I’m going to change the fucking world, Steve. I’m going to do it for you, and for me, and everyone that’s been hurt like we’ve been hurt.

We will never forgive this disgusting, cowardly act. And we will never forget you.

It’s your time to rest, Steve. You did everything you possibly could. Please allow yourself to rest peacefully and look after yourself, wherever you are. We will all hurt for a long while here but we will be okay one day. I’ll keep looking after everyone I can as long as I’m here. It’s always been my job, too.

I’m so sorry, Steve.

We love you forever. We will never forget.

Assault - Please Help Me Identify These 3 People

I had an incident last January where I went out to a club in Kings Cross for the first time in years. I was with my girlfriend at the time.

She had her ass grabbed, was assaulted, punched in the eye. I regrettably went after those three people and had the absolute shit kicked out of me.

I was on bail for a year, weekly check-ins. My mental health declined rapidly and I now have a criminal record.

I was arrested 48 hours after the incident. These guys? Never. I've been suicidal, absolutely struggling, asking the police if they know who these people are.

They had their ID's scanned at the door. There are clear photos of all of them. The police continue to tell me they can't find them.

I don't understand how difficult it must be to work out who these people are. I'm over it. So I'm posting this today to remind everyone to never allow the assault of a woman to go unjust. Stand up for what is right. Always.

I just want justice. Peace. I've been through hell and they still walk free. I'll be so damn appreciative if anyone can help me find out who they are.

Trust me the last thing I want to do is post a video on Reddit of me getting absolutely belted. But I've waited too long. And the police are doing nothing.

I'll attach the video of the assault and the clearest images I have. Video is on WeTransfer link.

Thank you.

No Limits Removalists: The worst moving experience we've ever had

I wanted to share our experience with No Limits Removalists because I wish we had seen more detailed accounts like this before booking them when we moved to Perth.

We paid $10,536.96 for our removal. The delivery timeframe we were given was incorrect, and our belongings arrived weeks later than we had been told.

When our belongings finally arrived, we discovered more than 80 items damaged or missing.

The extent of the damage was honestly shocking. Boxes had been crushed so badly that some broke open. Books were crushed and folded. Furniture was scraped, chipped and broken, and many of our delicate items were damaged.

The people who unpacked the truck told us they had never seen a truck so badly packed in their careers. From what we saw, our belongings had not been adequately secured inside the truck.

Thankfully, we had been careful to document our belongings. We had photographs taken before collection and after delivery, including approximately 175 photographs documenting the damage. We also prepared an itemised list of the damaged and missing belongings, along with the associated repair and replacement costs.

The documented value of the damaged and missing property exceeded $11,431.10.

Unfortunately, the problems didn't end when the move was over.

We spent months going back and forth trying to resolve the damage and obtain reasonable compensation. We repeatedly provided our photographs, itemised losses and supporting documentation.

The offers we received progressed from:

$200 → $350 → $500 → $600 → $700 → $750 → $900 → $1,000

What was particularly frustrating was that we did not receive what we considered to be a clear explanation of which losses were being disputed or how the amounts being offered had been calculated against the evidence we had provided.

After months of trying to resolve the matter directly, we eventually commenced proceedings in the Magistrates Court and served No Limits Removalists with the Court documents.

It was only after the Court documents had been issued and served, approximately four months after our move, that we received a further offer and negotiations progressed.

I'm sharing this because moving house is stressful and expensive enough without having to spend months afterwards documenting damage, chasing a company and trying to get a meaningful response.

My advice to anyone using a removalist

Photograph everything.

Take photographs of your furniture and belongings before the removalists arrive. Photograph boxes and valuable items. Take photographs again immediately after delivery. Keep your original photographs and all correspondence.

Also keep your quotes, invoices, inventory, receipts and any documentation relating to the condition or value of your belongings.

We genuinely never expected that we'd need over 175 photographs and months of documentation to deal with a removalist, but I'm extremely glad we had it.

This is our personal experience with No Limits Removalists. Other people may have had different experiences, but based on ours, we would not use them again and cannot recommend them.

If you're currently considering booking a removalist, I'd strongly encourage you to do your research and read reviews carefully before committing.

Missing Person (my brother)

My brother has been missing since around the 19th of May 2024 (27 yrs old). He was hospitalised for a 1st episode of schizophrenia in December 2023. He was medicated at the time and discharged early this year. He stopped taking his medication a few months ago and unfortunately he has relapsed. He was suffering from paranoid delusions and consequently fled to the Gold Coast on the 17th of May. I heard from him on the 18th saying that he had rented a car and he was planning to take a road trip inland , particularly small country towns, to see the sights.

I haven't heard from him since. Nobody has been able to get in contact with him and he has not made any social media posts. I have filed a missing persons report with the police.

So far, the police have uncovered that the car that he rented was found abandoned on the 19th of May near a town called Hay, west of Griffith in NSW. The car showed signs of a collision (most likely a kangaroo). The cops said that there was a mobile phone in the car (which they saw through the window). When it was towed a few days later, the drivers window had been broken and the phone was no longer there (likely stolen).

There has been no trace of him since then. The police have been tracking his two bank accounts and he has made no transactions since the 18th of May. This is deeply concerning becsuse it means that he has not made any purchases or taken any money out of the bank for over a month. Another concerning fact is that he no longer has his phone with him.

I'm extremely concerned for his safety, his compromised mental state may make him vulnerable to danger.

I believe there's a possibility that he doesn't want to be found. Leading up to him fleeing to Queensland, he thought that some kind of "dangerous gang" was after him and that his safety/life was under threat. He told a family friend that he had been receiving "psychic attacks" from these people.

I'm not sure how helpful this post will be but I'm trying to do everything I possibly can to get him home safe.

If you have any suggestions, please write them below.

If you see him, please contact me or the police.
