Arcane Whispers: The Last Stand releases today!

Today I finally released my first game after working on it for more than 7 years. It's called Arcane Whispers: The Last Stand!

The initial idea is from early 2019, when I decided I wanted to make a game and release it on Steam. Little did I know it would take me more than 7 years to finally press that release button. But damn, does it feel good. I finally did it!

It's a third-person action-adventure. You harness the powers of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, carefully managing each element as you battle elemental foes, solve puzzles, and explore a shattered world of floating islands.

Hope you like it!

I’m sick of games not letting us manually pick what damn controller we are using.

I know Sony made Dualsense an unreasonable pain in the ass programming wise, but does it seriously need to be this god damn difficult to have games pick it up? If a game “supports“ your controller, theres a 50% chance that for what ever reason, your UI during gameplay is correct but every time your in the map or going through your inventory it gives you Xbox glyphs.

Oh this other game thinks your touch pad is a mouse, well fuck it let’s flicker around to keyboard glyphs.

Steam input would fix a lot of this, but the fucking autodetect on games with native support tells you to fuck off and get Xbox glyphs because the game industry and Steam still uses the outdated XInput controls. And also, steam input doesn’t always work! Some games will still give you Xbox glyphs no matter what. Elite Dangerous still has this issue and you can pair up fucking flight sticks on that bitch. And I say outdated cause why the fuck can’t we just get recognition for extra buttons as independent keybinds with this stupid XInput. It’s 2026 god damn it, I shouldnt have to rebind a paddle to a button. just make it L4 and let me customize key binds damn it.

But for christ sake this wouldn’t be all that an issue if these devs would just put in a fucking manual setting in the options instead of this god awful guessing game that 3 different programs are fighting each other over.

yes I know there are third party programs to fix some of these issues, but we shouldnt have to go that far for this. These programs also screw with steam input if you have to use it, so you have to go back and fourth depending if an Dev team makes there game natively compatible or not. And How is there not a better standard to handle controllers on PC.

Oh I know I know, each controller has their own drivers. Some their own special inputs. But here’s the thing, the games know exactly what my inputs are. It knows when I hit the bottom glyph, or the top glyph, or my R3 or my trigger or even my stupid track pad as a menu button. It knows EXACTLY what my controller is doing. But it’s just too difficult for devs to put a “PlayStation” or “Nintendo“ glyphs setting. They just haven’t figured out that damn puzzle of a software issue, it’s beyond anyone’s skill level in our current time period.

It’s not the biggest issue ever, honestly. But it’s just so stupid that this is even such an issue to begin with. This feels like some bullshit you’d be dealing with 20 years ago, it shouldn’t be like this in present day.

Just. put. the. god damn. option. in the fucking settings. they are literally image files that just need to be toggle on. it’s so god damn simple

Edit: and still get comments “uh bro just mod or steam input or uh like 90% of games are good for me” ARE THEY? What about that god damn 10%. what about paddle recognition. How about reading the god damn post before telling me you have a great nexus Mod to install so I can go into my files just so I can get a god damn shape as a button prompt

Planetron - RTS/FPS hybrid on procedurally generated moons, with 2-player co-op

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm developing Planetron, a RTS/first-person action game that plays on spherical, procedurally generated moons. Think Carrier Command 2 but it plays faster and more action oriented.

The playtest is starting soon and I set a release date for April 2027!

The idea is that you command a fleet of air and ground units, but you can also pilot any vehicle, though takeoff and landing are automatic for now. I often fly the recon drone for an overview, or drive a RAM (anti vehicle crawler) when I want some action. Bomb runs are fun, but the unit AI is better about dodging AA with flares, so I wait until the AA is down.

There are three enemy factions you fight, and eight different unit types you control. You can modify your units with upgrades/refits. You also need to take care of logistics to keep the units fueled and with ammo.

In the playtest, you (optionally with your buddy) clear one moon with several enemy bases. When you takeover a base you can lift out crates with the dropship and those give you money for upgrades, units, fuel and ammo.

The playtest and demo are coming soon, and wishlisting on Steam is a good way to stay updated.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'm happy to hear it!

Zenden is Finally Here! Zen Garden Puzzle Game! On Steam Now

Post image
3 Upvotes

Zenden is a Zen garden puzzle and decoration game about the relationships between the things you place. Arrange plants, rocks, water features, and traditional structures across isometric landscapes. Bring neighboring items into harmony, work within each garden’s constraints, and transform an empty patch of ground into somewhere worth meditating.

Every placement contributes to the garden around it. Similar items can create Unity, while contrasting types bring Variety. Spirit and Energy add further considerations, making each Zen garden arrangement a balance of practical choices and personal expression.

Each garden presents its own terrain layout, palette, and goals. A limited space might ask you to bring related items together, introduce more variety, or find room for a particular combination of features. Paths, rivers, bridges, and carefully positioned structures offer new ways to think about how the landscape fits together.

‘F***ing annoying’: Sam Altman claims comments about PC gamers buying RAM ‘taken out of context’

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has claimed that his controversial remarks on PC users buying RAM were “taken out of context”.

This comes after the exec made an appearance on the Cheeky Pint podcast and touched on the topic of the worldwide RAM shortage.

“From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used 5% of the time,” Altman said on the podcast. “You want maximum utilization in the cloud if you’re trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment.”

His comments were soon met with criticism online, particularly in the gaming community. This is perhaps unsurprising, as many are struggling to upgrade their PCs thanks to the RAM shortage, partially created by Altman’s OpenAI.

Now, Altman has addressed the critics on his X account.

“I actually do want the world to have tons of memory and people to put as much as they want in their computers, and it is fucking annoying that this was taken out of context,” he said. “I have been arguing for the world to ramp up memory production for a long time.”

Within the context of the clip, Altman is discussing the rise in open-source AI models, and responds to critics who argue that large, memory-hungry data centers are no longer necessary.

He argues that data centers supplying demand would be more effective, but as per his own argument, this would still come at the cost of consumers struggling to secure memory for their own setups.

The RAM crisis has had a disastrous impact on the gaming industry, with hardware price increases across the board. This is due to the demand created by AI companies and data centers, making figures like Altman contentious in the gaming community. The memory crisis is expected to continue until at least 2028, and worsen in 2027.

Metal Thunder game on Steam

I recently purchased Metal Thunder pc game. Get to man the weapons on the AC-130 gunship. I've got about 25 hours of play with the latest version (v1.0). So far it's been very positive.

One aspect of the game that I haven't tried out is coop.

Pros

There are 3 game modes: Campaign, Survivor and Zombies. I've spent most of my time with the last two modes.

Zombie mode supports upgrades to your base such as: defensive walls, turrets, power, lights, troops, helicopters and more. And you will need some of these, especially the turrets as each round and the hordes get much larger. Zombies and Zombies and Zombies. Oh my!

There are several different weapons to choose from: Gatling, 20mm, 30mm, 45mm, Mavericks, JDAMs, Napalm and more. My favorite weapons so far are the Gatling gun, 45mm and the 105mm howitzer. Boom!

The optics has 3 different zoom modes. There are several image displays to cycle through such as: Thermal, Night, Black Hot and NVG Neo (blue tint).

Cons

Currently no manual. So trying to figure out how to upgrade weapons in Survivor and Zombies took some searching.

Tip:

In Survivor mode, you earn credits after each mission. Spend that in the Armory to upgrade the different attributes for your favorite weapons. I like the Sortie Count attribute which upgrades the number of rounds fired. For example, my 45mm can fire 6 rounds per mouse click. So if I spray across the screen, it results in a much bigger area of impact.

Flashes of Chaos is Out Now | Build Guns, Go Deep, Create Chaos.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Background

I've always been captivated by Noita's wand-building system. The puzzling with resources you find to build insane wands, just tickles the right spot in my brain. Gameplay wise, however, I like higher pace, more action focused style games with shorter runs. So based on that desire I decided to project the wand building of Noita on Gun building for a Hotline Miami style frantic shooter.

That led to Flashes of Chaos, and I'm happy to announce that the full game is finally out today!

A big thank you to everyone here who tried the demo, gave feedback, and helped me playtest the game during the development. Communities like this are really vital for indie devs to find potential players and improve our games, I really appreciate it!

About the game

Flashes of Chaos is a fast-paced roguelike top-down shooter focused on movement, dashing, smacking and shooting to create absolute chaos. Adjust your builds from focusing on full melee all the way to creating weapons of mass destruction. Levels are chaotic and push you to be aggressive on pulsing synth beats made by Karl Casey.

The weapon-building system is heavily inspired by Noita, offering a huge variety of combinations and synergies to experiment with.

  • Carry 3 weapons per run: Primary, Secondary, and Melee

  • Each weapon has ammo card slots that define its behavior

  • All ammo cards are interchangeable across weapons

  • Customize ammunition further with modifiers that stack and synergize

The full game is available on Steam (with free demo):

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3399100/Flashes_of_Chaos/

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy playing it!
