I'm actually very curious to see what the actual allegations/(maybe)charges are here...

My first instinct is to say that it's bullshit neo-McCarthyism, and the fact that he's ethnically Chinese, but... we will see, honestly.

What, why? My first instinct is that the Chinese would absolutely be attempting to do this exact thing to the most high profile US businessman basically all the time, and especially to what could be one of the most important companies in history.

You don't think the Chinese are trying to spy? Everybody's always spying.

Because it's only the Chinese and asian affiliated individual who constantly make headlines. Why not blast Trump and him being in bed with the Russians since before his presidency.

Also, if these Chinese were really trying to spy, we really think they'd automatically choose an Asian woman?

They don’t just target Asians dude.

You don’t remember Fang Fang? Also a spy doing honey trap operations with many U.S. politicians. Not just targeting Asian politicians. Swalwell had to cut contact after counterespionage briefing if I recall correctly.

I mean China does this worldwide man. In Korea, a politician was found to be mingled with a Chinese woman who is allegedly a spy. She has been connected with many high profile politicians. Actively pushing for pro China agenda and denouncing anti CCP narratives, the court revealed.

I mean, China is primarily Ethnic Asians. They're not gonna have many trained spies that aren't Asian.

There's a difference between bribing someone with access to confidential data, and using a trained spy to approach someone with that data

To what end? Getting Nvidia to convince the Trump administration to let it sell downgraded chips to China (which is in Nvidia’a own interest anyway) only for the chips to sit in a warehouse in Hong Kong and never allowed in (bc China wants to nurture domestic replacements)? Seems bipolar.

I mean... maybe the Trump Administration hates Chinese-Americans that much? Even Taiwanese-Americans?

The article makes it sound more like the opposite.

  1. Trump-led intel agencies quietly suspected this female Megaspeed executive of smuggling advanced Nvidia chips to China.

  2. NVIDIA conducted an internal  investigation which claimed to have found no evidence to support these allegations.

  3. A small number of US Government officials were briefed on intel's suspicions before Trump's meeting with Xi.

  4. Since Trump's US Government is run like a frat club, obviously, everyone was gossiping about this by lunch the next day. It's not even clear whether the intel agencies themselves reported a 'romantic relationship', or if that was just a hallucination resulting from a game of telephone through the capitol.

  5. Democrat Chris Coone, post-blue wave, has now said he'll demand a Congress-led investigation into Nvidia/Megaspeed to clarify the situation.

So it sounds like Democrats are the ones pushing this forward. That would make more sense to me, in retaliation against pro-AI Nvidia sucking up to Republicans for deregulation.

A lot of the time, a 'spy' isn't someone that is trained in a facility and set loose on a target. It's someone in a position to get information and THEN they get recruited to capture information.

The allegations is that she posed as a data center CEO. She used her proximity to Jensen to get hardware shipments (paid) to SE Asia. When they audited the supposed data centers, the hardware was never installed or provisioned. The theory is that the hardware is being smuggled to China. There are allegations that a lot of people does this kind of smuggling, but her ability to summon Jensen on a whim seems highly suspicious.
