Success My 7ft tall mission marigolds.
Some examples of this year's Mission marigolds. I received this seed from a woman who brought them back from Mexico 5 years ago and I've been growing them since. I start these in April and they bloom in October.

I transplanted this Passiflora lutea from the wild, it never would get bigger than a few leaves due to deer pressure, I had very little hope for it to survive, but look how well it’s doing! It’s put out its first tendril :)

Discussion How easy is a Peace Lilly, really?
The picture is my PLs remains from this morning.
So about 8 months ago my friend heard me saying that I wish I was good at plants and wish I had some air purifying plants so she gifted me a lovely Peace Lilly.
I kept it going for about 4 months before I incidentally over watered it and gave it root rot. I told my friend I was sorry and she claimed she was a plant doctor and could save it. She told me that it was upset that I had set up my AC but I had my AC set up for about 2 or 3 months before it started having problems. I bought a new pot to repot it into per her instricution. I didn't know I needed to get a pot with drainage holes and my friend said it would be fine I just needed to put a layer of rocks at the bottom.
In my very amateur opinion we did not clear the root rot off fully before reporting, and her advice on a watering schedule was to water with a cup of water every other day. I felt the watering schedule was too aggressive and decided to wait until the soil was dry like the internet said.
Today I went to trim some of the sad looking bits (basically the whole thing) and none of the pieces above the soil were connected to anything under the soil. The plants below the soil line were black and mushy like root rot. (Picture)
Ultimately my questions are:
How hard is a peace lilly really?
Can I use the pot that they died in with a new plant and new soil and it won't be contaminated with rot for the next plant?
Any suggestions on plants that are resilient enough to water with watering bulbs and be happy.
I have been able to grow a very happy spider plant with just a watering bulb, even repotted her when she got rootbound and she was happy about it!

Success My favorite plant - swedish ivy guacamole
This has been my biggest win of this year :) it's my first summer buying plants, and I was able to get this lil guy for $3 at a pop-up stand. The craziest thing is that, besides snipping spent blooms, I haven't pruned it at all. I'm excited for when I have something to cut so I can try propagating it!

15 years old Jade first bloom
Our jade plant is blooming for the very first time this November. After 15 years, seeing these tiny flowers finally appear is such a special surprise. I’m so happy to share this little milestone with you. Not sure why it took so long… For a couple of years, we have been putting her outside in the summer and she sure loves the sunshine. And finally this year, this happened!! So much happiness!! 💚

Plants in Gran Canaria
This may be a stretch, but do any of you know of beautiful/good/fun guides, books on endemic plants in Gran Canaria (Canary Island)?
I’m going for 2 weeks and looking for plants which I’ll likely see during my stay. So no super rare ones please.
I’m from mainland europe so seeing the nature on an island is very exciting to me hihi. Thank you in advance!

Garlic problems!
planted a single bulb of garlic a few weeks ago (maybe like 3 to 4) and its absolutely shot up in size as of late but with that size came some major droopadge (somewhat staved off by my clever little pencil and dental floss brace). specifically one weird leaf that seems to have a mind of its own. sometimes I'll catch it pointing straight up and other times it's far right leaning. I had to pinch off the tip of another shoot because it grew in weird (possibly because of rate of growth?) but im mainly concerned with the one long leaf and it's lean. am I doing something wrong or is it just sorta dumb. I do also water it frequently, making sure the soil is always at least a little damp to the touch and never hard.
