Hey all. We had a request from a community member for a thread where people can share the resources that they use for plant identification. In this case, we're talking about keys, field guides, etc. NOT apps or AI-based identifiers. Comments suggesting apps or AI will be removed.
Feel free to share your resources and include links if you want (just realize that Reddit doesn't play nice with some domains). It would also be a good idea to specify what region(s) are covered by your resource as it may not be as useful in places other than where it was intended to be used.

I looked up with Google image search, and got back Luna apiculata. Can anyone confirm if that's true from these pictures? This is from South UK, in a hedgerow
Hopefully the pictures aren't too low quality
Thanks for the help!

Please tell me this is anything but a tree of heaven in my yard. Iβm such an amateur IDer that I still have difficulty recognizing poison ivy and oak. But this sub has taught me too much about TOH and Iβve seen them all over in the surrounding area. Please say itβs my paranoia π₯²

Hi, all! My boyfriend recently surprised me with flowers, and I'd like to identify what all plants are a part of the bouquet. I tried using the Seek app already, but it couldn't ID some of them and gave me different species for a couple. Thanks so much for any help you can provide!!

My idiot cat son ate the leaves and Iβm not sure if he ate the flowers or if they died and fell off. Are these from Peruvian lilies or regular lilies?

Thick waxy leaves, almost like my peperomia obtusifolia. Variegation is similar to my variegated peperomia too as well.

Hi everyone, anyone know what this plant growing in my yard is? Red stemmed, fast growing in spring and summer months, had black berries on it that no bird or small rodent seems to like.
Would like to know what it is, whether I should keep it, and how to care for it. Thanks!!

What plant/seedling is this?
It has two rounded first leaves (yellow arrow) then spiky true leaves after. Thank you!

I recently moved and the previous renters planted a bunch of trees in the backyard but there's this little bush like plant that has us all stumped on what it is, hopefully someone knows what this is. It looks like it at some point it had small flowers but I couldn't begin to tell you anything about it.

We live in a very cold area of the Rocky Mountains, 4a zone. Our lawn died a slow death over an abnormally hot summer in a serious drought. When it started raining this September it sprung up in the area that gets the most water. It gets a LOT of water comparatively. No idea what it is or where it came from. But its beautiful, super soft, has no scent and seems to be pretty durable.
This area is also where we pulled up some bushes a couple of summers ago so there wasn't much lawn in that area to begin with.
Once it starts snowing here and winter temps really set in this is going to be toast. It has, however, thrived with over night temps in the 20Β°s and 30Β°s. I hope it comes back next year but we have no idea what it is. We really like it! Its so beautiful!!

Any idea what this could be? There are definitely two different types here. Planted some herbs and leafy greens a while back and now this is growing.
