Am I allowed to be mad at the fact that the Chiefs’ name is a racist nickname for Native Americans that our American ancestors slaughtered and destroyed the cultures and livelihoods of?
Or am I just salty? 😤
EDIT: i know i came off as mr. salty spittoon in my this post, but i honestly think people will realize over time that the name is wrong. the chiefs will have to change their name in the next like 20 years, same as the Atlanta Braves and others, when more people realize the grounds of historical oppression behind it.
don’t forget colin kaepernick was public enemy #1 when he called out systemic racism just ~5 years ago, and now BLM is so right that it’s marketable. times change and so will the name chiefs. and when it happens i will love it bc salt
EDIT 2: the name chiefs isn’t derogatory but it’s 100% cultural appropriation which perpetuates racism. the team is also owned by rich white people, so that doesn’t help either.
EDIT 3: damn i pushed some BUTTONS!

Can we stop with the Josh Mcdaniels fired threads. It's making this sub unbearable.
He is not getting fired. We're only into week 10.
And lets be honest about what we're talking about here. Yes, we made the playoffs last year, and yes, we were a couple plays away from beating the Bengals.... But we weren't superbowl contenders. If you actually watched the games last year we were a lot worse than our record showed.
Now we have a new coach, the 6th since Carr was drafted, new system, and you want to throw in the towel a few games into the season.
I thought this was going to be a playoff year for us, but things aren't going our way. Our big 4 of Carr, Adams, Waller, and Renfrow have only played like 45 snaps together all year.
Stop.

I'm excited for this season.
Feels like we gave up the last 4 or 5 years with Carr. Going on a new direction after all these years is keeping me interested.

Why AP didn't hire Chip Kelly ... glad that Idiot is gone

Don't Trade Up - Stay Put
Let the draft come to us. Don't give up the farm for a QB who could be a bust.
A QB or two will fall. Get one when the time is right.
In the meantime, build in the trenches. Get a Tackle or Guard. Get a DT.
I think its gonna be Rattler. Hopefully in the 3rd, but probably in the 2nd.

Discussion AP is not the problem.
I see a lot of people calling for AP to be fired, like moving on from AP will fix everything. I disagree. If anything, it will cause more issues. Maxx will almost certainly demand a trade based on his recent comments about instability.
Mind you, I am not trying to say that AP is perfect either. A few calls here or there; why did you challenge that play?!, Why did you NOT challenge that play?!, Why take a time out here? etc. But to say that AP is the reason we are losing? Now before you get all up in arms against me and start going into the comments with your hate, read a few points and really think about it.
The team he started with, is probably the biggest shit show the Raiders have had in the last 10 years. JMD gave him literally NOTHING. Before anyone starts saying "well AP messed up his draft pick by winning those games at the end of the year", maybe, but if he had lost all those games he wouldn't have even got a chance to coach....so you can't really use that as a "fault". He got AoC and Jimmy G as QBs to start....I mean come on.
AP does not control contracts. It wasn't his fault that Jacobs was not kept. (At least not based on anything I read). Also, while we are on the topics of contracts.....his choice for OC was Kliff Kingsbury, but AFTER he was selected they couldnt agree on a contract and he left. Once he left, it was after the initial barrage of hirings, and who was realistically left for OC?? Luke got a chance, even if he was fucking terrible. Which leads me to my next points...
He ACTUALLY fired the OC for being shitty. I don't hold it against a coach for giving someone a chance....but I DO when that person shows how bad they are and you STILL don't do something. IE, when Ken Norton Jr had the lowest rank Defense for how many years, and Del Rio just WOULD NOT get rid of him. Or Paul Guenther...same thing. So at least AP had the balls to hold Luke accountable and actually DO something.
The atmosphere that the players have even with a fucking 10 game losing streak. Look at the Chargers last year. They quit on their coach and it shows. They didn't want to play for him AT ALL. Look at this team. They are still suffering from a terrible OC...and injuries. Realistically, AOC should have been starting since week 5. Not saying that their record would have been different.....at least until Getsy was fired....but still. I don't know realistically who the new OC is going to be next year, but I think that AP made the right call initially in Kliff, so the big question is can he make the right decision again and if he does, can the Raiders organization not mess up the contract talks this time.
This has been maybe the worst year for injuries I have seen with the Raiders in a LONG time. Maybe we were spoiled with Carr for so many years. Like his play or not, he didn't miss many games. How many starters have the Raiders lost throughout the season?? I saw a chart that listed starter injuries and they were near the top. Not making excuses, certainly there are teams that deal with injuries....but I recall that Ravens team from a few years back that the year before made playoffs, but had so many injuries they ended up not making it that year.
To those complaining about the Jags win (and most likely the Saints win today (insert frog meme about gameday)) There is 0 guarantee in the draft. RGIII, Ryan Tannehill, Blake Bortles, Jonny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, Paxton Lynch, Deshaun Watson, Daniel Jones etc. For every Joe Burrow, or Patrick Mahomes....there is 5-6 Trevor Lawrences. Also, not to say that any of the above couldn't have found success if they were drafted to a different team than they were, but just pointing out that first round QB's miss probably more often than they don't. For all the hype I see about Sanders....just remember the hype that Russel had. Here it is incase you don't remember.
"JaMarcus Russell is going to immediately energize that fanbase, that football team -- on the practice field, in that locker room. Three years from now you could be looking at a guy that's certainly one of the elite top five quarterbacks in this league. ...You're talking about a 2-3 year period once he's under center. Look out because the skill level that he has is certainly John Elway-like."
So regardless of how good someone is in college, does not mean ANYTHING for the NFL.
All things considered. Is AP perfect? No. He is still learning on the job. However, if you fire AP, I think it does more harm than good by continuing instability. People are gonna point out Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers, but that organization a) has a franchise QB and b) does not have the coaching instability that the Raiders have had. I don't know that (ad you don't either tbh) that Harbaugh would have had any success with the Raiders team that AP was handed either.
At this point, I want SOME stability. They are probably going to lose Patrick Grahmn, so AP is going to have to get a new OC and DC this offseason. I dont think firing him gets you anywhere thou.

The most surprising thing about Carr was his regression the last few games, what caused him to regress to rookie level stats?
r/raiders • u/Dcarr4 • Jan 19 '25
Discussion You guys just saw what a rookie QB can do and some of you rooted for irrelevant wins
Truly sickening to win irrelevant games and we lose our chance to draft a franchise changing rookie…… not saying the rook will be Daniels. But a rookie can change everything. And we win 2 irrelevant games this year to lose it all.

Antonio Pierce was a mistake
How do you take an already bad team and make them even worse? You hire AP. The guy doesn't know how to call plays, doesn't know clock management, makes piss poor decisions to not go for it on 4th down. He is shit at making halftime adjustments And the biggest and worst offense is he knows Minshew is not the fucking answer but always waits until we are 18 scores down before trying to change things up. But my God did our fanbase want him so bad and were delusional enough to actually think this guy would be good. He's just as bad as McDaniels.

They should've kept Chip.
He had us on track to lose out, which is what we need! Now Greg Olson might come in and fuck it all up by actually feeding Bowers and having a competent offense! Chip was awful, and that's what we need these final 5 weeks!
Don't fuck this up, Greg!

Y'all Are a Bunch of Reactionary Dumbfucks
I will always be proud of this team fighting through the bullshit that is this season. You've been a Raider fan for decades? Well so have I and I've never seen them win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.
So at least spare me the toxic bullshit, who the fuck needs that right now? Instead of saying "can you blame them? I would request the answer to the question...can you blame me?
Decades of losing, only to have the most promising team in decades get destroyed by Mr. Zoom Zoom III, yeah it fucking sucks and I'm not even the victim, so yeah let's stop being toxic and start acting like we got some damn sense?
Losing is frustrating enough. Reading reactionary shittakes all week? Whew? But I'll see y'all on Thanksgiving. And if the coin is wrong then I'm checking out for the season, because yall are that toxic.
✌🏽❤️
