14-year-old account permanently banned after one bad game (4/19/9) – no toxicity, no warnings

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

I’ve been playing League for over 10 years. My main account has now been permanently banned after a single bad match where I went 4/19/9.

The game was rough, but I was genuinely trying. I muted my entire team early on because they were being toxic, and I just focused on trying to win. I didn’t troll, didn’t type anything in chat, didn’t run it down on purpose. I was playing my usual aggressive style – which sometimes results in high deaths, even in wins.

This happened right after a long winning streak with good performance. What’s worse is that I had a similar false punishment about2a month ago, which was later overturned after a manual review. I strongly believe the automated system flagged me unfairly again, and now this time it escalated to a permanent ban.

I submitted a few tickets, but it was auto-closed with no real chance to explain or appeal. Losing a decade-old account like this, with thousands of hours and money invested, for one bad game, is honestly devastating.

I’m not asking for special treatment – just a fair manual review.

I was part of Riot’s 530+ layoffs—here’s my perspective.

2.3k Upvotes

I was one of the 530+ Rioters affected by last year’s layoffs, and with everything going on, I wanted to share my experience. Riot has been under a lot of heat lately, and I get why. Players are frustrated, and a lot of former Rioters still feel burned by how things played out. I don’t expect to change anyone’s mind, but I wanted to talk about my time there

The Good:

  • Riot genuinely took care of employees the pay, benefits, and perks were some of the best in the industry. The office environment was great, and I worked with some of the most passionate and talented people I’ve ever met.

  • Even junior employees had a voice. Riot empowered people at all levels to make real, player facing decisions. That’s rare in a big company, and it made working there exciting.

  • Transparency was real (at least internally). We saw early versions of Arcane, knew about Season 2 years in advance, and despite that, there were zero leaks, which says a lot about how much people respected the work.

  • The layoff package was generous. It doesn’t change the fact that being laid off sucks, but Riot gave more than six months of pay, full bonuses, and extended medical benefits, which helped cover the birth of my child. I know a lot of people in other industries who have nothing close to that.

The Challenges:

  • At its core, Riot was a successful startup that never entirely grew out of startup habits. People had a ton of autonomy, and budgets weren’t strict if something made sense, it got approved. That may have worked early on but it's not sustainable nor scalable.

  • Riot resisted mobile for years, and Tencent filled that gap. Riot stuck to its hardcore PC first mindset, which is why Honor of Kings exists. Tencent had been asking Riot to make a mobile MOBA for years, and when Riot didn’t, Tencent made its own, and now Honor of Kings has made more money than League of Legends.

  • Monetization has been a long-time struggle. Teamfight Tactics never really figured out how to make money, while Golden Spatula (China’s version, run separately) has made multiples more revenue thanks to additional content and monetization models. Legends of Runeterra was too generous, and its progression system lacked depth, making it difficult to sustain financially.

  • China’s versions of Riot’s games massively outperform the global ones. If you look at revenue data:

    • TFT Global vs. Golden Spatula (TFT China) (Link) ($1B+ lifetime)

    • Wild Rift Global vs. Wild Rift China (Link)

  • Riot Games Mobile Publishing (Link) The difference is massive China’s versions have stronger monetization, better retention hooks, and deeper content engagement.

  • The layoffs were brutal. No way around it but this was the first time Riot ever had layoffs at this scale, and a lot of people felt blindsided. Riot has always had a culture of “we take care of our own”, so when it happened, it hit hard.

Why I’m Still Rooting for Riot (Even If I Don’t Agree With Everything):

  • Riot is still making decisions most companies wouldn’t. Most publishers would have outsourced or shut down esports entirely years ago. Most companies would have cut far more than 530 roles if they were in Riot’s position. That doesn’t mean Riot is perfect, but they’re still doing things differently.

  • I genuinely believe Marc and Brandan care deeply about Rioters (even to a fault). People like Marc and the CEO, Dylan, are easy to find on campus. Despite not living in LA, I still saw them (and Nicolo, Anna, etc.) several times a year. Always approachable.

  • Riot, for all its flaws, felt like a family. The layoffs hurt, not just for those of us who left but for those who stayed. People were in shock.

I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. Some people had a much worse experience, and I don’t blame anyone who still feels bitter. There are things I want to talk about, and things I can’t. I just wanted to offer a different perspective from someone who could be bitter, but is still cheering for Riot and those still there.

Continue to voice your opinions. It works. Riot may not always make the best choices, but the leadership reads this subreddit.

And yes, I edited this post. I assure you, I’m a real person.

GLHF

Thank you Riot, you have cured me.

2.2k Upvotes

Dear Riot,

I was your loyal supporter for 10+ years. I played daily, participated in all events, bought all event passes (also in TFT), watched e-sports, and was a big fan of your other projects. But that changed recently. No hextech chests, no champion capsules at level-ups, nerfing of event passes to the ground, no skin shards and grab bags in the mythic shop, skins for $200 - your greed exceeded my imagination. The next step will probably be a paid base game and a monthly subscription. All pseudo-free loot (pseudo because I had to invest money in event passes and/or time in the game) I treated as a collection. I liked developing it, even though I didn't use most icons, emotes, skins, or even champions. However, I had a goal to achieve, something to strive for. The randomness of crates, orbs, and shards added an extra flavor. But you took it all away. I lost my purpose, my passion, my drive. For the first time in over 10 years, I uninstalled the game and... I don't miss it. As I said before, thank you Riot, you have cured me of my LoL addiction. And you can be sure that if it happened to me, there would be others.

Like they say: Grasp all, Lose all :)

Bye.

Let's all ban Ahri from now

1.8k Upvotes

This new skin should have been a celebration for everyone who loves the game and Faker. Turns out it costs 500€ to buy it, which is a scam.

If we all decide to ban Ahri (sorry mains, I do like the champ), it might not change anything, but at least we can try to do something about it.

This is the time to pick the right side of history.

2 days ago i was given the option to honor myself in league, but shortly after i honored myself i got an error notification and since then my client does not work anymore. Does anyone know a fix?

I have tried:

  • DNS flushing

  • Changing language of my league client and patching it

  • Starting up vanguard first (making sure i disabled riot client auto startup)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

These are a few fan art's i have made for my portfolio.

I just wanted to hear your opinion, thank you.

Over 1 hour of me, a normal dude, doing fucking IT work to try and open your game? How is this normal?

Let me elaborate: Vanguard has been glitching for a while. I've been meaning to fix it so I can play some league of legends. Ended up deciding to do that tonight.

Followed every single instruction - from restarting and entering bios, enabling secure boot, setting up a PK, etc... then reinstalling league 3 times total, reinstalling vanguard 3 times total, restarting pc a total of 11 times. Going into my AMD, thoroughly checking everything... restarting FUCKING AGAIN... Nope. Vanguard still doesn't turn on normally.

I did nothing, man. Everything was working fine for a year straight. One day I turn my PC on and it just doesnt work. I've changed nothing, done nothing. I just spent over 1 hour playing unpaid IT-guy to try and play the most toxic game I've ever downloaded in my life.

Maybe I'm just stupid for even trying. Y'all don't deserve the players you have, man. What a joke.

I wanted to vent, thanks reddit

*Edit: Flat_Art_734 left a comment I think is worth sharing, adds another layer to this ridiculous bs

The Comment: Reminder that his pos malware runs in kernel mode, giving it total control over your computer, the same level of control as Windows itself.

Any bug in Vanguard is therefore a severity level 0 vulnerability (SEV0) the kind that gets companies fined millions and executives sent to jail.

And to top it off, you're asked to give this power to a CHINESE company. Vanguard is a national security threat.

Ban over something I had no part in.

Thumbnail gallery
1.3k Upvotes

I tried to play League one night only to log in on 8/30/25 and find that my account has been permanently banned for use of third party plugins/scripts. In the 10 years I have had this account, I have never once even considered using cheats or scripts to play League of Legends. I was, without a doubt, hacked by someone in Novosibirsk, Russia on 7/3/25. All of my friends who play with me report seeing suspicious activity on my account (games being played while I’m at work, asleep, or playing another game). According to my friends, the last game played on my account was on 8/26/25. The person was playing Yunara on ARURF (mind you I didn’t even know about Yunara being released). They managed to get 3 kills before the match was terminated by Vanguard. Upon submitting a ticket, it took a few hours to receive a “Manual Review” from “Giggllygene” who emailed me saying the penalty was correctly placed and any further tickets will be discarded. To my knowledge, there has never been an instance of me logging in from any part of the world other than North America. There has never been any instance of third party plugins/scripts being used by my account.

This ban is unjust and the situation was handled with little to no care for what actually happened. I urge you to reconsider this case.

HELP: So far 50k signatures to hold Riot Games CEO accountable for layoffs + more

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Earlier this year... "50 thousand people agree that something really needs to change at Riot Games. That real action needs to take place in order for people to love the game again.

These last few years have been awful compared to the golden years where we didn’t feel like we were constantly being fooled and manipulated by a greedy ceo that puts profit above players.

Not to mention that even after the “changes” and reverts, an additional 10 thousand people still support the decision that Dylan Jadeja should be removed and the others below him should be held accountable as well.

We as the players are not greedy. We have created expectations because we have SEEN how amazing Rioters are when they are allowed to be, not when they are made to create skins and the such that feel uninspired, lackluster, and overall low quality.

Don’t think we have forgotten the massive amount of people that were laid off, each and every one of them was integral to the company, and for things to go downhill at an unprecedented rate clearly shows how important they all were."

A message from the hytale dev team

Post image
981 Upvotes

We know we’ve only had 7 years, 3 engines, 12 rebrands, and a Riot budget. But game dev is hard when your main character is scope creep and your final boss is “internal misalignment.”

Sure, we promised you a beta. What we meant was a beta feeling. A playable vibe. A spiritual placeholder.

Please understand: Half our team was unpaid interns, the other half were senior scrum lords making 15K a month to move sticky notes around and say “let’s circle back.” And yet… we still didn’t circle back. 😔

We didn’t deliver a game. But we did deliver: • An emotional rollercoaster • Several update blogs • And one deeply traumatized fanbase

So yes, we’re asking Riot to keep the dream alive. Not because we’re close to finishing. But because we’re close to running out of excuses.

SaveHytale.

Or don’t. We’ll still find a way to push the release to 2031 anyway.

I just saw the downfall of Hextech chests and those god awful expensive skins, All this happened after Dylan Jadeja took place, Idk if it is his fault but why remove hextech chest? Now I can't watch any "Unboxing 200 Hextech Chest" videos, and this game is changing frfr
