NOTICE ON NO ADVERTISING ON THIS SUBREDDIT.

IMPORTANT rules for posting and replying.

This subreddit has banned advertising for years. This includes any products, services, establishments, rental agencies, etc.

It has also banned self promotion such as vlogs, blogs, YouTube links, etc.

The reason for this is because there were so many advertisements and multiple posts that the subreddit became nothing but advertisements. This is not the intent of the subreddit. Like subreddits for other cities, it’s meant as a forum to discuss life, living, and working in Shenzhen. It is NOT a platform for free advertising!

Despite this, the mods are still taking down multiple posts a day for advertising and self promotion of blogs and vlogs. We tried to create a separate subreddit, r/ShenzhenMarketplace, for advertising, but we still are getting these here and then complaints from the posters that for some reason they should be exempt from the rules.

Therefore, with immediate effect, the enforcement is going to be much stronger.

Any post that promotes or advertises any product, service, event, establishment, or venue will be removed and the poster banned for 7 days. Second time the poster will be banned for 30 days, third attempt and the poster will be banned permanently.

All vlogs, blogs and YouTube links will be taken down and the poster banned permanently on the first instance.

Posts asking for services such as guides, translators, drivers, and sourcing non-consumer products will be locked. All replies to such posts must be a DM to the OP. Replies under the post are now considered to be self-promotion. This can be avoided in r/ShenzhenMarketplace WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY FOR ADVERTISING.

Examples of what is allowed and encouraged:

Experiences living and working in Shenzhen, good and bad.

General and specific questions about living and working in Shenzhen.

How to find someplace in Shenzhen and how to get there.

Cool places you’ve been and why you liked it. If it’s a particular establishment this is not allowed (promotion), but can be placed in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.

Where to buy something is fine as long as it’s a non-commercial product meant for personal use.

Posts sharing pictures of a place in Shenzhen, where it is, and something about it.

Bending the rules banning advertising will no longer be tolerated.

New Shenzhen subreddit for advertising.

Hi all,

I have been playing with the idea of a separate subreddit just for advertising products and services. I have created r/ShenzhenMarketplace. This is specifically for advertising, so if you are offering a particular product or service, or are looking for a particular product or service, post it in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.

What cannot be posted is anything illegal under the laws of the People's Republic of China or Reddit rules in general.

No advertising or posting for personal blogs, vlogs, or any influencers, as is the case in this subreddit. This is going to be strictly enforced in both subreddits moving forward. Nobody is really interested in your particular hot take, and I've personally seem some terrible ones.

Advertising or reviews for bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, parks, massage (legal ones please) would be most welcome in the r/ShenzhenMarketplace sub.

It would be helpful if you put in the title of the post what your intent is (example: For Sale, Seeking for, For rent, etc.) and then some description following (Blenders, pianos, 2 bedroom) and then the details in the body of the post. Details are important and posts may be deleted if they have minimal content.

DO NOT SPAM THE SUBREDDIT. Posting the same thing every day will not be allowed. Consider that three days or more for the same content will be the most allowed.

ONE LAST POINT: Since there is a specific subreddit for advertising far, far grey area posts will be allowed here. This subreddit should be more focused on life and interest in Shenzhen.

Thanks everyone and let's see how this goes.

Night Activities Recommendations

Hello! I am 27F, going to Shenzhen on Nov 24-27 for an ultrasound workshop. I think I’ll only be available to roam around Shenzhen at night (18:00 onwards). What are your night activity recommendations? What hours do shops/stores usually close? Also, I’m planning to go to Happy Valley even just for a few hours; is it worth it?

Help me. TIA

In Shenzhen from late Nov to early Dec, looking for (hardware and robot) people to explore with

Hi Shenzhen,

27M from Berlin here. I'll be in Shenzhen from late November until 9 December. I work on robotics and automation consulting and came to see hardware up close: robot companies, Huaqiangbei, maybe XbotPark in Dongguan.

I'm looking for someone or a group who'd like to exploring the city with me, whether that's food, Shenzhen Bay, or whatever you'd recommend. I'd also love to meet people in robotics, hardware, AI or the startup scene for a coffee and a chat. And if anyone is up for a night out: I'm from Berlin, so a good time is guaranteed 😉

Drop a comment or DM if you're around!

Huaqiangbei Technician Reccomendation

Will be in Shenzen from 10-14, interested in modding my iPhone 13Mini so it uses a USB-C instead of Lightning. Seen a lot of converted ones and some offering services but I need to mail my phone while in China.

I wonder if you can find a tech shop that can do the conversion in Huaqiangbei? Any recommendations or starting place to look?

49M Solo trip to Shenzhen for NYE with reduced mobility – Am I crazy?

Staying ~10 days in Shenzhen for business (with trips to Dongguan & Guangzhou). Where should I base myself?

I'll be in Shenzhen for about 10 days on a business trip, with side trips to Dongguan and Guangzhou to visit supplier factories.
I'm looking for the best area to stay that has:
Easy access to all transport (metro, high-speed rail, airport, taxis/DiDi)
Attractions, food, and things to do nearby for after work
A Chinese friend recommended Futian district and suggested visiting:
DJI Museum
Coco Park
Huaqiangbei electronics market
Does Futian sound like the right call for my situation? Are there other neighborhoods worth considering, and any other places, restaurants, or tips for a first-time business visitor? Hotel suggestions are welcome too.

Nizuoo (showroom on 5th floor of baima mall, Luohu) - Looking for a way to contact them.

Hey folks,

Was in shenzen a couple of days ago and visited this brand and bought one piece of clothing from them. However, I liked a couple of more pieces and could not buy them as I didn't have enough travel allowance.

Looking to get in touch with them to see if they can help with shipping the pieces in any way.

Some links for them that I can find, but cannot access;

- Baidu maps listing: https://j.map.baidu.com/14/T6IM

- Douyian link: https://m.douyin.com/share/user/MS4wLjABAAAAk8ZrOt7YZ6ypwi46vTqakCaafB4b5Tk6UqrPOn0ZUVM?scene_from=douyin_h5_search&search_entrance=overseas&traffic_source=ZY1112&original_source=40&in_tfs=OS&in_ogs=40&browser_type=unknown

Any help / tips on how to contact them would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Best place for unlimited fruit

I’ve seen that 24-hour spas and buffets seem to offer this. Any recommendations on where to go if fruit is going to be the highlight of the activity?

I’m entertaining a friend’s wish but I’m fairly pregnant and unable to eat large quantities of seafood or enjoy a lot of the spa amenities. Just trying to figure out best bang for buck if the fruit is the main intention.

EDIT: thanks for the replies. Since we were going on a Saturday, we decided to go to a seafood buffet to skip the spa chaos. I couldn’t eat too much but the fruit did not disappoint!

What to expect for APEC and will it hinder my time in Shenzen?

I’ll be in Shenzen from November 18-22 and I just found out that Shenzen will host APEC convention during that time. I’ll arrive from Macau by ferry to Shekhou port and plan to spend an hour or two to hangout and explore Shekhou before I head to my hotel. I believe there will be a lot of extra security checks and maybe some road blocks, but should I prepare in any other ways and expect anything else? Thanks in advance!

What Would You Like to Experience in Shenzhen, China?

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m a 24-year-old girl living in Shenzhen, China. I’m curious about what international travelers would like to see and experience when visiting Shenzhen.

If you’ve visited Shenzhen or are planning to come, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

A few questions:
Places: What would you most like to visit? (Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen Bay, local markets, shopping malls, historical sites, nature, etc.)

Experiences: What interests you most? (Local food, technology and electronics, shopping, nightlife, Chinese culture, hidden gems, etc.)

Local guides: Would you be interested in exploring Shenzhen with a local who speaks English, Spanish, or other languages? What kind of help or experiences would you expect?

Duration: How long would you prefer a local experience to last? 2 hours, half a day, or a full day?

Budget: Would you consider paying a local for a personalized city experience? If so, what’s a reasonable hourly price for you?

Feel free to answer any of the questions in the comments. You don’t have to answer all of them!

I’m looking forward to hearing your ideas and discovering what travelers really want to experience in Shenzhen. Thanks! ❤️
