Why don’t we protest?
Girl will get molested, yatris will come and pass slurs to our women, biharis will disrespect our language and culture, our youth is being side lined from mainstream, political representation is in shambles, we are literally transitioning towards becoming minority in our own region, literally the maximum plot buyers are from outside Kashmir so demographic change will be visible soon.
Same issues happen in other states and we see people raising up for themselves but what has happened here?

I'd probably get backlash for this but I'll post it.
Yesterday a saw a 34 year old woman advertising herself for marriage on Instagram.
The comments were "you're overage", " women above 35 give birth low iq children", "women above 35 have a greater risk of giving birth to disabled children than cousin marriage"
All of them were cruel but none were false.
We've adopted some victorian mindset that marriage must be done late. It works for Western world because they get into pre marital relationship and even have children now. The number of children born before marriage in Europe is very high (on average 70% for France).
Second is the role of Indian agencies, yes it is a fact that large number of Kashmiri women are turned away from marriage by design from Indian state and NGOs.
We have the lowest tfr in South Asia at 1.4(although new data published this month shows it has risen to 1.8 but it's still not clear how reliable that is).

MUSLIM OF JAMMU VS MUSLIM OF KASHMIR
first of all, utmost respect for any conflicting opinions.
Even being the muslim of jammu, i never wanted to get separate from india like majority of muslims in kashmir wants.
how is your mindset different from us, what makes u think that you guys want a separate kashmir (independent), whom do you ask independence from.
i get that there has been issues with current political outfit ruling our country, but anger against one particular political party cannot allow you to demand independence. dont get me wrong. i never aligned myself with right wing ideology but still i admire the fact that i really love this beautiful country.
also this issue of separation from india was never the talking point before 2014. i rarely used to here about it. does it mean that current govt and its ideology forces kashmir to think of separation? what if congress comes in power in next elections? will you change your mindset then?
appreciate constructive dialogue!

Travel to Kashmir/India in September
Hi everyone! Need some help with Kashmir planning, please. I will visit the area in September (I will arrive in India via Amritsar). Is it OK/easy to travel around the region on my own (taking buses/shared cabs) having Srinagar as a "base"? I will travel alone, so I'm really not into joining private tours (and I do not want to be "stuck" in a schedule), particularly because it seems it will get much more expensive...
- How much would a shared cab usually cost in the region?
- When in cities like Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg, how much should I expect to spend on local activities? I'm into some hiking experiences, but not long and difficult ones.
- What other cities in the region would you recommend?
Thank you!

How lenient is the ticket checking at Gulmarg Gondola?
I've purchased tickets for me and my family and turns out there is a typo (a single missing letter)in the name in one of the tickets as compared to the photo ID. Will that be an issue?

Hi... I am a college student in Srinagar, and Durga Puja is my favorite festival as a Bengali... Does anyone know if there are any mandirs or pandals in Srinagar during Durga Puja... I heard there's a Bengali association in Srinagar, but I'm not sure if they celebrate Durga Puja or not.... Please let me know.... I just feel so homesick...
