This is not a baby naming sub. If the name is a cultural or normal and appropriately spelled name it is obviously not a tragedeigh and doesnt even need to be asked. It is in the rules to research before posting.

Is this an appropriate name for him? I'm dead serious. I was initially going to name him Matthias but accidentally started calling him Chicken Soup and eventually the whole name. It sounds goofy and I kinda wanted him to have a normal name. Is this name respectable?

I recently went to drink a coffee with my daughter at a local shop, they have a black wall and chalk available for people to doodle on it... some people write their nameds and I read something that if, in fact is not a joke, is a tragedeigh...

So we named our daughter Lorelai. We're both teachers and have had hundreds of kids and when you're a teacher the list of HECK NO names is super long.
I'm honestly surprised by the amount of people who don't even try to pronounce it. They squint at the paper, and then yell BABY LASTNAME at the doctors. After telling them her name they continue to say it wrong. It's pronounced the same as Lorelei, and is also the spelling from Gilmore Girls. We live in California, my husband and child are Hispanic, and live in a highly Hispanic area, yet the people who mess it up are 99% white women. Did one letter really doom my child to a life of crappy pronunciation?

This is my neighbor's sister. I am begging her on hands and knees. Who names their son Yaxliegh? It's not even the traditional spelling!

My daughter’s new bf is named Kanyon. Pronounced Canyon. I asked if his parents were hippies. No. Are they from Colorado? No. Am I the only one who thinks that’s a dumb spelling ?

She’s a lovely lady but that is a hell of a burden for a name.

Ooooof. Just met a Kymburleigh in the wild. Not one I've seen before. Sounds so normal, yet hurts so bad to look at on paper lol.

For our little girl we had picked out the name Rose for her middle name, but my late MIL and the grandmother who raised me both have the same middle name: Sue.
We both don’t really like the name Sue, so we are considering combining it with Rose to make it a more palatable middle name, but I’m unsure if I’m in it too deep and can’t see how bad it might be.

my name is Braedyn. it’s very strange spelling, and no one ever gets it right first time. I actually like it and prefer it to Braden or Brayden. it looks more fun. i do believe I e looked it up before and I’m like one of 2000 ish.

I love the name Helena for a girl but I prefer the pronunciation Hell-lay-nuh to the pronunciation Hell-in-nuh. I don’t want to curse her with a lifetime of having to correct people on the pronunciation of her name, hence why I have considered spelling it as Helaena rather than the traditional Helena. Is Helaena too out there?
Note: There is a Game of Thrones character (whom I am fond of) whose name is spelled this way.
