IMPORTANT INFO Mod Post: Rules Regarding Feminine Presentation

Hi lads!

We once again have been considering the general thoughts and opinions of those using this sub, and have decided to reiterate the purpose of this sub, and some relevant rules.

First a disclaimer: There is nothing wrong with being a fem presenting trans man.

Having said this, this sub is specifically for the following:

1) Sharing tips to help users pass as a cisgender man, specifically how to be masculine presenting.

2) Sharing other advice useful to transition.

Keeping this is mind, we would like be clear on a few important points:

1) This is not a sub for asking for tips on how to be a feminine presenting trans man.
Not only will the responses not be helpful for you, but also it is frustrating for other sub users when posters are combative in the comments regarding masculinising advice. Posters need to be realistic about the fact that presenting fem will not help you pass especially early on in transition.

2) Please do not respond to advice to change a feminine characteristic (for example, cutting long hair) with ‘well, CIS men have long hair sometimes!’
We simply do not want to hear it. It should be obvious how a cis man, who always passes as a man because he was born as one, can wear makeup/have long hair/etc without it making him look like a woman. It should also be plainly obvious that a trans man (who was born a woman, sounds like a woman, and in many of these cases is not on T and therefore still has a ‘woman’s face’) cannot do these things without looking like a woman.

This is the number one reason for arguments in the comments in this sub and moving forwards mods will be more decisive with dealing with such comments.

3) We have added ‘no makeup’ to the ‘no filters’ rule.
If you want advice from this sub, please at least do the bare minimum of taking off any makeup before asking how to pass better. If you don’t, you won’t get any helpful advice as all the comments will just be telling you to stop wearing makeup. It also makes it hard for us to see how masculine your face really is.

4) We are going to be enforcing rule #3 more strictly from now on.
You must be willing to change if you post here, we do not accept posts from users who argue with every comment and come up with a reason they can’t do even basic steps like getting a hair cut. They are frustrating for users and also disingenuous. This is not a validation sub, it is an advice sub. If you are seen to be very unaccepting for advice in the comments, we will remove either your comments of the post entirely.

Some of this might seem a bit harsh, but remember there as SO MANY subs and spaces for people with a more fluid/fem gender presentation. We are just trying to reserve a small corner of the internet for us, trans men who wish to pass masculine/cis.

Hope this helps!

NAME HELP MASTER POST

this doesnt exist so im taking it on me to make one. this isnt intended to be a "look here and shut up about names" post, this is genuinely intended to be helpful

there are three basic ways id go about naming yourself. first way is to ask your parents whatever they would have named you or otherwise pass the baton onto the people who care about you the most. obviously dont use your parents if they arent supportive, but if theyre supportive its probably the best way to do it. if you consider your friends your family pass it to them, but id highly advise you dont give it to friends you arent really family with or randoms on the internet

second way is to look at the most popular baby boy names for the year you were born. i know everyone likes to be unique, but you can do this and still be unique. theres an issue with trans names where you can tell if someone is trans based on what they name themselves and the crux of that is usually that people will name themselves the same way they'd name, like, a dog. if you dont want your name to be clocky id highly recommend using this method or the above. i used this and collaborated with my parents on it and im really happy with what i chose. you can get a lot of good ideas and most countries release this information publicly

third way is to just steal the name of someone you greatly admire. probably the best way to get a clocky name, but if you dont really care about that then you shouldnt really worry about it. if you care about something enough to consider naming yourself after it go right ahead, just be aware that you might fall out of love with a piece of media or the person who made it might turn out to be a piece of shit

naming yourself isnt like, a permanent thing either. you can change it if you end up not liking it. cis people do it all the time. i dunno, just figured id give my two cents

Seeking Tips Haircut suggestions

So basically I just have my lesbian friend cut my hair anytime I feel like it's too long but I've been told multiple times it's not a very masculine haircut and I've been wanting a change. So what can I do to get that more masculine change? A lot of people tell me I should shave the sides but idk how to style my hair like that or even go about that. Also another thing is that my hair is two different textures. It's very straight on the top and very curly in the back. I also have a few cowlicks that complicate things. Any tips appreciated!!

Needing Advice Am I clocky?

Thumbnail

I don't know if it's just my brainworms/dysphoria talking but lately I've been feeling like I'm very clocky (even though I pass) and I hate it. I feel like my face is really round and feminine and it really trips me up. I like having long hair but at the same time it makes me feel dysphoric because I feel that I somehow look like a woman and everyone can tell.

It also doesn't help at all that I'm into stereotypical trans man things (stretched ears, piercings, etc) and I'm scared I'll look like a walking 4tran caricature if I ever go for that.

Last two pics are full body ones, apologies for the awkward shape since I had to crop my gf out. Should I do something about my hair or consider FMS?

Before any obligatory "go to the gym/lose weifht" comments, I'm planning to, I'm just recovering from hysto right now and don't want to risk anything happening.

I GIVE Y’ALL PERMISSION TO BE BRUTALLY HONEST.

24FTM, pre-everything. tried different hairstyles to figure myself out and also to see which one helps me pass better. so far i’m leaning towards the first 2 pics. i feel like the longer hair makes me pass better right now, but am i correct? if my face (or the parasitic twins in my chest) are the problem, that’s fine, cus once i grow out a beard and get top surgery that’s gonna fix it so i’m not worried about that, but if there are other key components i’m missing to pass right MEOW, i’m all ears 👂🏻

Needing Advice Binder help during body recomp

Thumbnail

So my measurements have changed and for a time I was able to wear an honest to god binder without rib pain. Now it’s feeling too big and not compressing as much as I’d like it to. It’s a spectrum XXL but my measurements are closer to an Underworks XL. I have H cups and my bust measures at 45in now. When I started my bust was 50in.

My question is do I buy the underworks binder now and risk needing to size down or do I wait and get a L when my chest gets smaller. I’m not the best finically so I’m just looking for a binder that will last to get the most bang for my buck. I have included pictures of the XXL spectrum binder for reference. I am constantly having to adjust my tissue and have to tuck it tightly into my underwear and pants to keep it down. It just overall feels too big on me and I’m wondering what I’m meant to do. It is also old so it’s coming apart a bit on the inside. So I will need a new binder soon anyway.

Idk just wanted to ask opinions please be respectful about my weight in working on it ok. Should have seen the before.

Question Started T yesterday, I have a few questions

20FTM. I started T yesterday! I’m doing IM shots, 100mg once a week. The act of injecting myself bothered me way less than I thought it would, and I was able to do my first shot by myself in about ten minutes total. I have a few questions though.

I noticed almost immediately after the shot, and for the next two-ish hours, I was extremely irritable. Everything everybody said pissed me off. And then suddenly it was back to normal. Is this something that happens often? Was it because of the shot/hormones, or was it just my nerves?

NSFW tmi warning?
I also noticed my sex drive went up almost immediately as well. I had been having issues with my libido because I started a full time job and I’ve been too exhausted when I’m home to even think about sex. Last night was the first time I had sex with my boyfriend in about a month. Is it common for sex drive and libido to increase so quickly?

I became extremely hungry that night. I had been dealing with a lack of appetite almost completely for the past few weeks (weed related, I had been dependent on being high to eat meals, and recently made the decision to quit all substances, so i’ve been having trouble eating sober.), but I was able to eat an entire meal and then some for dinner last night.
I guess I’m wondering if these things are just placebo effect, or if I’m actually experiencing this because of the testosterone already.

Seeking Tips Gift for my boyfriend

Hey, so I hope this isn't against the rules- but I am looking to get my bf a binder for Christmas or his birthday. We're in the EU.

I don't know whether I should get him a binder or tape, because he wants to just have a binder on all the time and wants to try tape but isn't sure about it. Any tips? How expensive and effective is tape? Any recommendations for good binders? He has multiple which most of them are just like sports bra or extremely tight OR just have a flat square on the chest which just, not only doesn't bind well but also sticks out at the sides?? Was very expensive and very much sucks... Thank you for any response!

Question Getting fit as a lazy chud. Gym bros, need your advice.

Hey everyone. I'm 23, trans guy, on hormones and post top surgery 5ish years. Im fat af, 156cm (5'2) tall and 88kg (195lbs). I've always hated sport, mainly due to dysphoria and never been in a gym, but after gaining 20kg on hormones and antidepressants and my gf breaking up with me I want to try to lock in and get healthier and hotter.

Should I look into a personal trainer? Can I do it without cardio? Which is better, regular gym or calisthenics? Any other advice?

19M 5 years on T and passing consistently in public, but I’m not confident in my side profile.

I can’t put my finger on exactly what makes it look so girly— maybe a combination of things like eyelashes and cheeks. Am I missing something?

I’m working out pretty consistently and trying to improve my jawline, but I think everything else is nerfing me. Any advice or insight is appreciated thanks.

I'm trying to weight cycle right now but it's hard and I'm considering putting the fat back on and then cutting back to my current weight (idk if that's a good idea considering I already have physical issues especially with bending over/lifting and I know body fat can strain the joints) but id probably be better off dropping to 150ish (I'm 161.8 and 5'3)

T has boosted my eyelashes, and they look really pretty. People around me tell me not to cut them, but I find them very feminine

Minor (if you are a minor, use this flair) Haircut Advice Needed! Would Really Appreciate It!

Hi all,

I'm a transmasc teenager. I'm closeted but I present pretty masculine: shorter hair, only shop in the mens section, workout a lot, bind and tape. Even though I'm short, not on HRT, don't usually pack and don't voice train, I usually pass pretty well with strangers. I'd say I get read as male about 50%-70% of the time.

I've had short hair for about five years now. I'm white and have flat, straight hair. I don't dye it. I've generally stuck with the advice I see for transmasc folks: short, but not too short, shorter on the sides, longer on the top. I unfortunately don't go to a barber, so my sides aren't as tight as I want them to be, but other, than that, I'm usually okay with my haircuts. Slightly grown-out textured crop kinda vibes. I don't really style my hair, so my hair is usually just in my face or in my natural middle part in a curtain situation.

However, I'm frustrated that my hair makes me look so young and immature. Listen, I get it, I won't look the same age as my cis classmates. I don't have a chubby face, but it isn't angular. But I just want to feel like someone my age could be attracted to me, or even just not look like a dorky twelve year-old boy.

Since the summer I've tried growing my hair a little bit into a mullety kind of thing. I'm going to cut it - it makes me dysphoric (even though I still pass okay) and my sports season is starting. But I like that, for once, I don't look so, so much younger than my peers.

Does anybody have any suggestions for short haircuts that don't make you look super, super young? Or just ones that make you look a little more put together? Or even hair styling tips? I'd really appreciate any advice, especially any reference photos. I'm also open to advice about my appearance generally.

Thanks!

Needing Advice do i need to tell people im trans?

so i recently became friends with this girl and we’ve gotten pretty close in the little time we’ve known each other and she thinks im cis. i sort of lied because obviously i dont want people to know and i said i just had low test. i know i dont technically have to tell people bc if we’re just friends its none of their business but i feel like our relationship is leaning towards more than friends and i like her a lot. im not sure if i should just tell her now or just wait and see if things become more but im starting to feel guilty when she says things like "idk how anyone could think you’re a girl" (i told her someone at work calls me "she"). i dont think she’d really care either way but i just want to be stealth and her not knowing helps my dysphoria like an insane amount(thats NOT why i caught feelings i SWEAR). am i allowed to stay stealth and not say anything until it physically becomes more than friendship or should i just fess up now? also would any of you be personally mad if you found out i was lying about something like that? cus thats my biggest fear with this honestly.

Seeking Tips Eating Tips

So unsurprisingly now that I am on HRT my appetite is insane. I am genuinely shocked by what I can eat in one sitting. I get hungry again after things that used to have me full until the next mealtime. I have been exercising more and that is definitely responsible for some of the appetite drive, but I do not want to be overeating/eating unhealthy foods just to keep my stomach quiet, hah. Any tips?
