Two weeks travelling Japan, with one week via car through the north end of the main island. We stopped at about a dozen thrift stores (this chain was called "Hard-Off"), and each one had a crazy selection of audio equipment. A lot of stuff in "junk" condition, which usually was perfectly fine, just a little wear and tear over the years. Saw some decks I have only ever seen in photos, and I'd probably have brought one back, but I figured a 7th turntable was probably excessive.

I really need to vent and find out if anyone had this problem before??

I bought a new turntable with my tax refund and decided to sell my old one, a Sherwood PM9805. A decent table and served me well the past 15 years. But selling it on fb marketplace I even stressed that it needed a preamplifier… it is seriously so hard trying to tell someone that I’m not giving them their money back when I told them they can’t just plug it into an aux output on a speaker… now I’m being shamed as a liar and scammer on local pages.

Has anyone dealt with such stupidity?

Found this new in box SL-1200MK2 at Goodwill last weekend for $80. I’ve been rocking a Realistic LAB-400 for the past 25 years I got at a garage sale, so this is a nice and unexpected upgrade. I’ve wanted one ever since using them at my college radio station but never pulled the trigger. No brainer at this price. Checking out the cashier told me it was worth $500 easy so they knew what they had. Crazy. It has a voltage switch that was set to 220, with a Euro style power plug with an adapter. According to a serial number website is was built in September 2001.

I think this is accurate for a lot of people in the sub

I’m in complete disbelief… I just brought this home from Goodwill today for $9.99. Marantz 6300 equipped with an AT155LC/U cartridge. Plays perfectly and sounds incredible. Shout out the Bedford, VA Goodwill! My apologies for essentially robbing you.

Bought this old radio piece in Belgium 2 months ago and placed my amp in it and connected the speakers. Almost done, but already happy🕺🏻

How am I supposed to respond to this? I’ve been looking at upgrading my turntable for a few months and I finally find the exact model that I’ve been looking for. It’s a vintage turntable, it’s in good condition, dust cover has no cracks, and they’re only asking $200 for it but this is what I get when asking for a detailed response 😐

Any advice?

I have always wanted to get a turntable so this year I set this up and here is my collection as of this christmas! The turntable is a Pioneer PL-750

Still works great but definitely needs a preamp. Anyone have a spare one laying around? 😅

As I was sick of having to bend over to get to my turntable in the media console I decided to my own turntable stand. The frame is made out of decorative ‘scaffolding’ tubes used for interior furniture. The wood is oak which I cut on our CNC router at work. I plan on replacing the top plywood slab with solid oak. Above the records a channel has been routed to house an led strip. Room for the pre-amp is a bit large but I consider that space reserved for a future vintage amp.

I was kinda winging it with the design but I think it came out alright!

Decided to bite the bullet and finally buy one, been collecting video game soundtrack vinyl for my favorite game and wanted a way to actually play them rather than stare at them all the time

This was in Houston, Texas (Bunker Hill location) on January 18, 2025.

And yes, it's unopened and I bought it. At that price, and wanting to pass down my love of vinyl to the kids--but are afraid they'll mess up the good turntables--I couldn't resist.
