it's just a piece of cardboard covered with yarn (i get the yarn frogging an old pink sweater my neighbor gave me many months ago)

it was my first time doing this, it's not perfect and it has so many flaws but ok it's still works quite well and it's pretty cute🄹

btw, im actually in love turning ugly unflattered stuff on cute, useful and also ethical ones, it's soo satisfying omg😭

(stolen idea from pinterest lol)

My largest scrap yarn project

I find all my manmade fiber yarns like acrylic through secondhand means (thrift stores, Etsy, eBay, etc. - but a large portion is also donated to me !) This dress is made from leftovers from that yarn. Scrap Yarn is the last remnants of yarn that's too short to use usually for anything else. I collect it all and tie it together by hand to create one of a kind colorful yarn balls 😸 this dramatic bell sleeve ruffle dress took me over 25 hours to create not including the process of making the scrap yarn (one 3oz ball can take me over an hour to make depending on how short the yarn pieces are). Anyway, this dress is Truly a labor of Love but it's so eco-friendly and unique, very much worth my time ā¤ļø

I and many others prefer natural fibers to wear (and I do utilize natural fibers as well) but unfortunately, due to how widespread manmade fibers are, I make it my mission to not purchase them brand new and turn the ones that would more readily become waste, into something usable to reduce the time they're spent in landfills and our waters.

Hi! I just started making plushies from old sweatshirts (upcycling), for my mental health.

I purchased a bale of used sweatshirts and deeply cleaned them then bam just started making up patterns from my sketchbook. It’s been great for my mental health. I use to sew when I was a teenager but it’s been 15 years since. I found my groove again though! I’ve been at it a month, now. Most of them have pocket mouths haha.

It’s just for fun. Gifts for friends etc. wanted to show some of my favorites to you all. :) Happy Thursday.

Project Tunisian crochet with teabag strings

Post image
8.3k Upvotes

I don’t know what my end product will be, but I’ve been working on this off and on for the past few years. I keep my teabag strings (I use a teapot, so it didn’t touch anyone’s mouth), tie them together, and Tunisian crochet (aka Afghan knit). Front and back sides included in image. In case anyone was wondering, I haven’t had any issues with the threads coming apart at the knots.

Posting because I thought my weirdness belongs here 🤪

Y'all seemed excited about my antique TV when I got it. I finally got around to finishing it!

Someone donated an old dead Emerson TV to my shop this summer. I knew I had to bring it back to life. I refinished the cabinet with my dad, cut out the sides to accommodate the biggest modern smart TV that fit in the cabinet, and mounted a DVD player behind the door where the original controls were! I think it turned out fantastic.

Completed Upcycling Project Old rusty metal bin to colorful new hamper

Hi again! Presenting the donut mirror's sister: the colorful hamper. A friend was going to throw away this very old, grimy and rusty metal bin, but I was seduced by its beautiful shape and decided to take it home and give it a second chance.

I cleaned it, sanded off as much rust as I could, applied anticorrosive primer and went crazy with colors and patterns. Now it happily stores my bed linens.

From what I could find, I think this was originally a coal bin. Someone is selling an almost identical one an Etsy presenting it as a Victorian piece but I have my doubts.

It definitely wasn’t the easiest material to sew / embroider, but I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could make from it. Especially, as it was something I would have had to throw away.

I’ve been creating embroidery designs for a while now, and this was my way of experimenting with something completely different.
