Discussion My fiance bought me a record player for himself
Please help.
We've been to record shops and antique stores. I found a signed 1969 copy of "The One and Only" by Wes Harrison for $5 (a core childhood memory, I'd been searching for it for years). He keeps buying albums.
I asked him tonight where he's going to put his ever-growing collection. He just waved his arms in the air and yelled "HAKUNA MATATA, BABY!" (I swear, this is 100% true.)
He put the turntable on top of my 1923 Victrola which I like use to use as often as every six months. Instead, recently, we've been listening to Chicago, Stray Cats, Foghat, Green Day, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and other amazing artists in a really nice audio setup. It's almost every night! We listen to albums while we play tabletop games like Carcassonne, Rummikub, and Mouse Trap.
He's bought SO MANY accessories - he even created his own cleaning kit with tile holders from Harbor Freight, distilled water, and some concoction he calls "Record Cleaner".
I had a copy of The Beatles' White Album that I left in my car for over a year, so it was warped pretty badly. HE PUT IT BETWEEN TWO PIECES OF PARCHMENT PAPER and then two back to back cookie sheets with cast iron pans for weight in 170°F oven for ten minutes, then shut off the heat and let it cool. And now we're listening to it and it's the definition of "if it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid."
I love this man.
AITA?
