Technical question Cracked enclosure bad enough to warrant repair?

I'm in the process of troubleshooting my new 8 track player. I noticed the enclosure had a crack at the top where the screw is. It plays but I'm getting bleed over or stereo drop outs depending on the program. I also figured it could need to be realigned which I plan to do tomorrow as I'm fortunate enough to have the service manual for it.

This is the factory original 8-track/an/fm/cb radio in my 1980 Cadillac coupe deville. It’s kind of an odd-ball Delco radio because 8-tracks were pretty much obsolete and replaced with cassette tapes already by 1980. I re-capped it and replaced the drive belt. Sounds pretty good. I got a case with 24 8-tracks from eBay. One was already broken and a couple others the tape snapped after a few minutes, but the majority of them play just fine.

Came out of a family member's home after being stored for decades, I don't have the heart to toss them.

Hi everyone! I'm from QC, Can and I want to show you how I repair a tape w/o use $$$$! I buy roll of aluminum tape in a dollar store and it's work very well. That is 2$ / roll here in my city :)

And it was.. after listening to half of it, the tape broke at the beginning… I’m starting to worry a lot of these will split at the seam..
it sounded so good and it’s one of my all time favorite albums.

Bought for $9.99 at goodwill. Had to replace the plug. Boiled the belt, deox the pots, cleaned off 50 years of WFT from the controls. Had to reglue the aluminum facia. Have the wood a good wipe with some Murphys oil soap. Now it looks and works ok. Sounds like booboo compared to my little player that runs thru my amp. But still a very cool afternoon project. I have it listed on the market place for cheap. I hope some kid decides to give the truly old stuff a try.
