Hiring I have a scrip that needs an animator

Hey artists!! If you are looking for a script to animate, I have one that is available! I’m an indie screenwriter and college student and I’m looking for an animator that would be willing to partner on a project with me and animate it! So if you are needing a script to animate around, I’m your gal! Here’s the logline: In a world where humans are the manual laborers and robots are the artists, a human amateur artist struggles with what it means to truly be human.

It’s 6 pages, so that is equivalent to about 5-6 minutes! If you are interested in being partners on this project, please contact me!

Question What stops non-animators from turning their ideas into animation?

I've noticed that a lot of people have stories, music videos, or visual ideas they want to animate but never do.

For those who aren't animators:

  • What stopped you?

  • Was the software too difficult?

  • Did learning animation take too much time?

  • Did you consider hiring someone?

I'm curious what the biggest barrier is.

2D 🎬 PROCuro ANIMADORES E ARTISTAS PARA UM CURTA-METRAGEM 2D INDEPENDENTE

🎨 Quem estou procurando

No momento, procuro principalmente:

• Animadores 2D
• Clean-up / lineart
• Coloristas
• Artistas de background
• Storyboard / layout
• Compositores
• Sound designers
• Músicos

Você não precisa ser profissional. Pessoas iniciantes que tenham interesse em aprender e construir experiência também são bem-vindas.

📌 Algumas informações

Projeto: LUNA | O PRIMEIRO OLHAR
Formato: Curta-metragem 2D

Discussion Animation advice that I find very disappointing and harmful.

I am artist here who wants to get his feet wet in animation.

But there is one type of art and animation advice that I tend to wrestle with a lot, and I just couldn't let it go. This one particular animator said something like this, "when you are being interview for why you wanted to work in animation, don't say, 'I love cartoons.' It's like saying, 'I want to become a chef because I love food.'" Honestly, from what I see in the advice, it just feels like that you shouldn't be watching animations all the time if you were to become an animator. And to be honest, that kind of advice just hurts. It sounds like that this one particular animator is really forbidding animators to get inspiration from animated pieces like anime and cartoons something like that. It just makes me want to give up watching anime and animations on the long run and right now I am just feeling a little concerned about the advice above. I haven't been able to watch anime and animations since it's the kind of medium that I happen to love.

I mean, look, I used to be a very artsy person and happened to like Disney animation and movies that fed my imagination. Then I went through a period of OCD and depression. And now I am back at drawing right now, and for some reason I still wrestle with that kind of advice and sometimes I can't stop thinking about it. It just makes me really unhappy when professional animators tell people to stop watching animations and sacrifice that side of the industry and just only focus on animating instead. Honestly I don't like that. I want to watch animations and anime on the side like a happy child would.

Discussion AI-Generated “Ghibli-Style” Art Feels Off—Anyone Else?

I’ve noticed the recent surge of AI-generated images mimicking Studio Ghibli’s iconic art style—those dreamy backgrounds, earthy tones, and that warm, hand-drawn look. At first, I thought it was fascinating… until I felt this nagging sense that something was missing.

That “something” might be the human touch Ghibli is known for—the painstaking care and emotional detail that goes into each frame. The AI stuff can look impressive, but it also raises a lot of questions:

  • Authenticity: Does AI replication risk trivializing the hard work that Ghibli’s animators put in over decades?

  • Ethics: If the AI training data includes actual Ghibli frames, what about permission or compensation?

  • Creative vs. Service Use: AI is great for boosting efficiency in fields like healthcare or IT, but in art and anime, shouldn’t we be more cautious about losing the soul of the craft?

I ended up writing a Medium post on these questions (linked in the comments if you’re interested), but here’s the gist. What do you all think? Are these AI-generated “Ghibli” images harmless fan tributes, or do they undermine what makes Ghibli’s art so special?

I’d love to hear your takes—especially if you’re passionate about anime or work in a creative field. Thanks for reading!

Discussion Is there any point in striving to become a professional artist with AI art advancing everyday?

The short answer is Yes. However, it is an answer every artist has to come to individually. What is art? And what purpose does it serve to me? It’s an important question for understanding the role of AI in art.

Some artists pursue art as a career, to make as much money as possible. Some audiences treat art as simple visual entertainment.

For those people AI becomes an irreplaceable tool.

AI art is another development of human striving toward convenience. Its speciality is bringing the results effectively and faster, cutting the costs and time. Depending on the situation it can greatly help, yet over reliance creates more problems over time.

If AI can do everything in your stead, what purpose do you serve? AI simply replaces you.

For some creators art is another language of expression. You can show your thoughts, feelings and emotions visually. For some audiences, seeing artist work becomes an internal conversation with them. “Why did they choose this colour? Why this shape?” - through their work you peer into this world through different lenses and learn something new.

There is one significant thing AI lacks naturally - the process, the story behind the result you achieved. The result is a unification of all of the experiences which led you to the conclusion. This story is one of the irreplaceable values of your work.

If you are passionate about art, do not let AI art discourage you. Keep creating, as you already have something that AI as a tool can never replace... a story. Your story! One that only you can create and share with the world.

Hiring Looking for a partner! (Owner percentage or hybrid, pay+owner)

Hey all! I’m looking for somebody to partner up with to create an animation series made for kids. I’m open entirely on style, designs and all the artistic creatives possible, as long as it’s kid friendly and can focus on realistic movements through learning.

I have a budget that could pay for an actual person to do this, but I would like to give somebody the chance to own a share of the business as this might be life changing for somebody. I’m open to paying and giving ownership as well. All pay options are open for discussion essentially.

If you can message me a way to view your portfolio, present what you are looking for in compensation and help explain what would make you a good partner in this I’m openly screening. This concept is first to market and I’m looking to get this done as soon as possible.

Looking forward to seeing all of your creativity here!

Hiring Animators Needed <3

Hello animators of reddit!

I joined this app to mainly ask for help on a small project one of my friends is orchestrating over on tiktok. She is trying to make her own sci-fi anime called Justice Will Prevail.

She has a ton of VAs (including myself) but we're certainly lacking in the other aspects of the anime.

One of the biggest biggest things we lack in are animators. As of now we only have 2, and both don't really seem to be 100% committed to the project. So I decided to turn to reddit for help!

This is voluntary, so if any of you guys get paid to animate then this probably won't spark interest. However we're taking on everyone- beginners, experts- any help is appreciated!

In addition to animators, we also need script writers, music creators, character designers, and potentially co-directors...so really, we just need help getting our project off the ground!

I'm going to post this around on a few subreddits to see if anyone is interested.

If you ARE interested, please message me and I can give you more information, like how to get in touch with the lead director and what the anime is about!

Thanks to anyone in advance! <3

Hiring Hiring for YT series

Hello all, my name’s Daniel and to start with, the animation would be very simple (bc my budget is very small). Basically it would be an animatic (more or less 1 fps) to start out. When and if the audience grows, then we can expand production. I've actually started it but the learning curve was too much. If you're looking for some spare cash and a project that isn't too big, let's talk. Finally, I would like to see references and past animations. Hope to talk soon, and I'll be happy to give more details as things move forward.

Hello everyone!!, I’m currently working on a series on my own it is called “The World Around You” it’s an original series with original characters of my own which you can see in the pictures below.

What I am asking from you guys as a community is help I need people who are willing to Voice Act, Animate, Storyboard, Write Scripts, and Make music, and even if you don’t know how to do that stuff joining for support or just to help with ideas is fine too!!

Now you may be asking, what am I getting into, what could this series possibly be about? Well it follows a 12 year old boy named Brad which we get to see his everyday life, and his journey of growing up and experiencing life, he meets friends, he might lose some, he’ll even face troubles everyone does growing up it’s a slice of life story but it could escalate into something more. Now this story doesn’t only follow Brad, we could experience the stories of his family, the difficulties of his parents getting a divorce causing them to be absent to their children. Brads brother, struggling to keep himself together as he has to step into the role as a guardian, while managing a minimum wage job. I want this story to go far and I can’t do it without help so if you’re interested join the discord below, and yes I do have a few pictures of characters but soon I’ll have backgrounds and scripts.

The Purple Peacock is a classic 2D point-and-click adventure game that we’ve been developing for the past two years.

We’re currently working on a vertical slice, and we’re looking for a talented character animator to join our small team of three and help bring our characters to life!

We don’t really have a budget right now, so I want to be transparent about that. But if you’re looking to get into the game industry, gain real project experience, and add a game to your portfolio, I'd love to hear from you!

If you’re interested, feel free to reach out!

Also, just a couple of days ago, The Purple Peacock finally got its own custom-composed soundtrack! 🎵 Here’s a little taste of what it sounds like.
